this place is an experience! It harks back to the way restaurants used to be, real silver service professional waiters and seriously good food. It is expensive, but the seafood is always outstanding, a real treat. If I could afford to go more often I certainly would.

We've been here many times for lunch, but we had our first evening meal here last Friday. The evening menu is very well thought out, with something for everyone. We were both very happy with our mains, everything was very fresh and well cooked. As usual the home made deserts were to die for and the atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be back for the evening menu.

Romanza Restaurant
Distillery House,, Dyer Street, Drogheda, Louth

My new favourite restaurant in Drogheda! From arrival to departure we felt like valued customers, mostly thanks to a very proactive and engaging host, who made excellent wine suggestions to suit our food and palates. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Overall the food was very good. We shared a starter of brie and beetroot salad, which was disappointing. The portion of Brie was far too big and it completely overpowered the lovely roasted beetroot and lovely dressing hiding underneath. For mains I had prawn linguini, which looked quite dull when it arrived, but tasted wonderful. It was perfectly seasoned and the prawns were plentiful and fresh. My husband had the special of surf n turf. He found his steak a little tough, but the lobster was amazing and we both loved the stack of home made fries on the side. To finish I had creme brulee, which I couldn't fault, and my husband had their take on tiramisu. We will most certainly be back! (it should be noted that a neighbouring table did not have such luck, there was much confusion with their order and one poor woman in particular had the incorrect dish delivered to her on 3 separate occasions by 3 different waitresses!)

Azur
8 Georges Quay, Limerick City, Limerick

I had the special set menu of starter, main and glass of house white for 19euro. Obviously being a cheap set menu the options were fairly limited but I was happy with my bruschetta with olive tapenade followed by wild mushroom tagliatelle. I also had a rhubarb crumble after which I wasnt impressed with, it wasnt very well balanced, but everything else was good. I would go here again, but would probably pay extra to order off the a la carte as neighbouring tables' fish all looked good.

Eastern Seaboard
1 Bryanstown Centre, Dublin Road, Drogheda, Louth

Very reasonably priced, but the food and service definitely need a little fine tuning. My white wine was far too warm, my crab cake starter wasn't hot and my husbands tuna steak was seriously overcooked. My own fish main was also a bit overcooked. However, all of the food tasted very good and was very well presented. The waitress wasn't overly friendly and couldn't have seemed less interested, but there were no unnecessary delays.

Milano (Baggot Street)
1 - 2 Haddington Road, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

The building and decor are nice, the staff are friendly and the food is pretty good. We had 3 courses within an hour, so its a good place to go if you can take a decent lunch break.

The Malt House
Old Malt Mall, High Street, Galway City, Galway

I was disappointed. The last time I visited this restaurant (about a year ago) I had a memorable meal and was looking forward to eating there again. The menu was far more limited and it just didn't live up to the memory of my previous visit.

The food was good, we all enjoyed our food. The service was bad though, slow and unfriendly.

Vina Mara Restaurant
19 Middle Street, Galway City, Galway

We had a good meal here last night. It is a little on the pricey side, but my meal was worth it. We both really enjoyed our starters, I had an inventive salad and DH had crab claws which were fantastic. My main was good (sea bass), cooked perfectly, however I didnt particularly like the accompanying sweet potato cubes. DH was a little disappointed with his duck main when compared to the standard of my sea bass, but still enjoyed it. Desert was good. The red wine list is extensive, and we both enjoyed our house reds and whites.

Excellent value for money, good quality food and good service. A really good spot, so can be hard to get a parking space!

Eddie Rockets
Skycourt, Shopping Centre (beside Scotch Hall), South Quay, Drogheda, Louth

This place is as consistent as it gets, the food always tastes the same: pretty good. The staff are welcoming and friendly and our son always leaves with a smile on his face.

Boiled Onion CLOSED
32 Shop st, Drogheda, Drogheda, Louth

The Valentines menu was good value for money at 45 pp. Both of us were disappointed by the starter, its hard to get melon wrong but they did. My plate of garlic mushrooms was sloppy and the portion was way too big. My main of snapper was a little overcooked, but the accompanying sauce and champ were excellent. His sirloin steak was cooked perfectly and the red wine jus was very good. Deserts did not disappoint. Service was good, though they have a strange system of taking your order at the bar area with the other waiting customers before they will seat you at your table, which we felt was a little odd. This restaurant does seem a little confused about its identity, the menu is not very coherent. The starters are quite pub-ish, while the mains and deserts are a little more classic. Oddly their house specialty is fajitas, which didn't really sit with the rest of their menu, name, decor etc.

Monasterboice Inn (Donegans)
Drogheda, Co Louth, Drogheda, Louth

this place is a bit of an institution, it is always packed at the weekend and rightly so. The food is consistently good sunday lunch type fare and it is family friendly, though you wont be allowed to linger over your coffee as someone will be waiting for your table! They usually take your order at the bar to speed things up once you get a table.

Mi Casa
Drogheda, Drogheda, Louth

the location in a shopping centre doesn't lend itself well to a nice inviting atmosphere. The food is fine and reasonably priced. The service was awful though, we had to ask on numerous occasion for parts of our order, even though it was not overly busy.
