On a previous visit I rated Bardons a top 5 mark. However sadly my last visit was an utter disaster. It was a busy Saturday night before Xmas when i took a friend out for a nice dinner in what used be my favourite place to eat in Kildare, Bardons. We were waiting one hour and half for a table and we noted locals getting tables before us. The lady who finally gave us a table was rude and we felt we really were an inconvenience. The food arrived after another 35 minutes wait and was just bland and dished up in a hurry. So we wont be back needless to say

Wonderfull efficient and friendly service . Great food cooked to perfection each and every time we visit.

Harte's Bar & Grill
Market Square, Kildare Town, Kildare Town, Kildare

Wonderful Restaurant that certainly lives up to its great reputation. Had a meal Sunday evening with a friend and the place was a hive of activity. Great food cooked to perfection. Great attention to detail and very reasonably priced. In particular the waiters were just top notch. Very professional, attentive, friendly and nothing was a problem to them. Cant wait to return !

Bistro 53
Main St, Maynooth, Maynooth, Kildare

Thoroughly enjoyed a work function with 6 colleagues here. Absolutely superb restaurant. Amazing service and extremely attentive waiters. Wonderful food. Great chef too ! Could fault nothing whatsoever. Will be back real soon.

Cafe Continental
U5 Courtyard Shopping Centre, Newbridge, Newbridge, Kildare

Decent enough Cafe , nicely decorated. Ive visited this establishment a few times over past number of years. I ordered scrambled egg and toast for Breakfast. The bread was wafer thin and the big let-down was he scrambled egg. It was a tiny portion and it looked like and tasted like rubber. I wont be returning

Bar Italia
26 Blooms Lane , Lower Ormond Quay, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Very impressed with our recent visit. Shared starter was amazing. Main courses (for all 3 friends) was out of this world. Steak was perfect. Pork and fish dishes were to die for. Staff very attentive and friendlly. Overall we could not fault anything except the main door which was left opened and blew in a cold breeze. Price was also good and we all agreed that we certainly would be back real soon. Well done to all at Bar Italia

Wallace's Torino
9 Grattan Crescent, Dublin 8 , Inchicore, Dublin

An OK Italian restaurant. Noting special. Visited with my friend during the week. Ths starter was good but the main course was a big letdown. I ordered chicken volenta and I got a small breast of chicken in the middle of the plate with 4 small pieces of potatoe chips organised around the plate in what can be only descibed as an awful presentation. Left the restaurant starving. Its hit and miss with this restaurant. Sometimes good and sometime bad

Metro Cafe
43 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

Nice restaurant/café and always busy which is a good sign. Staff always very friendly and normally service is fast and efficient. I do wish though that the staff would return your change when you settle a bill with the table attendants.

Fallon and Byrne
11-17 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We lunched last Saturday at Fallon & Byrne. There were three of us. We were met by an unfriendly abrupt gentleman at reception. After what seemed like doing us a big favour he showed us to a table. He then informed us we had to be out by 1.30pm. The food however was good and not at all overpriced. Atmosphere was bad, when we arrved there were no other customers there.

L'Gueuleton
No 1 Fade Street, Off Georges's Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Restaurant was extremely busy , it was a Saturday night! Great service from staff that really worked extremely hard! There was a great buzz in the restaurant. Food was top notch. All of the dishes were superb. ....and great vakue into the bargain. A little tricky to get a booking though!

Avenue Cafe & Restaurant
Main Street, Maynooth, Kildare

Nice restaurant will excellent waiters. The restaurant was quite busy which is a good sign these times. Meals are nicely priced without being too expensive. Food ok however all the main courses (there were 4 of us) Duck in particular just lacked something and tasted bland. Food was very filling. Atmosphere was very good.

Dada Restaurant
45 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Nice restaurant with nice decor and ambience. Service was poor and it was hard to get attention of the waiters. Admittedly the restaurant was busy on a Friday evening for the early evening menu. We both ordered the vegetable Tagine and were disappointed that despite the price and the wait there was very little in the vegetable tagine. The tagine cost €14.50 and for €13.95 around the corner you can get a very satisfying 3 course meal.

Il Fuoco Café
6 Chatham Court, Chatham Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Wonderful food, fast service and at such a cheap price. Great value and am happy to give restaurants like these my support as other restaurants closeby charge twice as much for their main courses. The three course dinner I had cost €13.95. Well done and I ll be back!

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This was my third visit to Saba as the previous visits were outstanding. However this visit I was very disappointed with the food. The service and staff were exceptional. Lovely busty ambience and the staff always are nice and helpful and always smiling. There were 4 of us and when we booked some time ago we had a choice of a 7 30 or a 9 30pm sitting ( I hate this arrangement as now you have to plan your evening to suit the restaurant rather than suiting you and your friends on your night out) The starters were all disappointing ..I have some salmon paste on some lettuce leaves ...nothing like what the menu stated. Also the main course Wok was disappointing. A small portion of vegetables with smaller portions of meat. All served with bland white rice. My friends all had similar experience so regretfully we wont be back to Saba

profile_review

Dakota
South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

Always like Dakota for a break after shopping for a nice meal. However I was disappointed by my last visit. It was a busy enough Saturday around 3pm when we visited. We had to struggle to get the attention of the staff to place our order. Most of the staff were around the till area. Disappointed on this visit with service and food but will be back again.

The Chilli Klub - Closed
27 South Main Street, Naas, Kildare

Nice to see good new restaurant open up and the Chilli Club is a nice new addition to Naas. The Menu is big and varied. Prices are Ok. The Staff are great, very friendly and helpful. At end of the evening the Chef came out of the kitchen and spoke with all the diners which was a lovely touch. I had sea-bass which tasted fantastic. My friend had the lamb korma and was delighted with it. Atmosphere was quiet as it was mid week and restaurant was new-ish but this will change as word spreads.

La Tasca
Abbey Street, (Behind Kavanaghs Pub), Naas, Kildare

Nice restaurant with warm atmosphere. We dined on a Friday night which is a busy night and we were accommodated quickly without any reservation. Nice tasty tapas but as with Tapas it takes many dishes to get that full feeling which can be expensive. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will be back.

The Norseman Bar & Restaurant
28 Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin

The only advantage in dining in this establishment is its location. I dined here over the weekend and was very disappointed. The service needs a lot to be desired. When we arrived we waited and waited and waited and tried to get bar mans attention. Finally we made the order and had two soft drinks. The coke ( 200ml bottles) were charged at €3 which is a rip-off, but if they can get away with it , fair play! Food was a big disappointment. While there one of the bar-men stood on a stool to switch of the TV ..and didnt even bother to wipe down the leather cover. We wont be back

Tenors Grill Room (Naas)
Fairgreen Street, Naas, Kildare

Visited Tenors Naas for Sunday lunch and again was very impressed. I ordered the Chicken and my friend ordered the Casserole dish. Both dishes were 'Top Class' . Service was very fast, friendly and efficient as always. Top compliments to all the staff at Tenors.

Zaytoon (Parliament Street)
14/15 Parliament Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I dropped in for a pre-gig meal during the week and it lived up to its usual excellent quick service. I especially love the fish kebab meal here, amazing flavour and taste.Prices seem to sneak up each time I revisit which is a pity as its renowned for great value no-nonsense quick meal. Staff can seem somewhat gruff at times but I think this is on account of their command of english.

The Steps Of Rome
1 Bird avenue, Clonskeagh, Clonskeagh, Dublin

Visited Steps of Rome last evening with three friends and we all agreed that this establishment has lost its edge. The food in general for us all was disappointing except for the excellent Pizza which the restaurant is famous for. The prices are high for whats on offer. There generally is a good atmosphere due to close proximity of tables - not ideal for a business meeting or a hot date. Staff at check-out till always seem to be having a bad day. A smile now and again can work wonders.

The Orchard Cafe
Orchard Home & Garden, Celbridge, Kildare

I disagree with last persons comments as the staff at The Orchard are always extremely friendly and helpful when we visit. Dishes are varied and although pricey the food is good. Surroundings are very nice and its a great convenient spot to meet. Weekend lunches are always popular and a very nice place to take the family.

Assaggio Restaurant @ The Westgrove Hotel
Westgrove Hotel, Abbeylands, Clane, Naas , Clane, Kildare

I regularly dine at the Westgrove Hotel in both Exchange restaurant and also at times for lunch in carvery section. In general food is always exceptional. The atmosphere is nice if at times service can be a little slow. The carvery is great value for the choice, quality and value. Its very well run ship by a young chef who is always brings a smile to customers faces by his upbeat sense of humour. I can highly recommend this establishment

Da Vincis Restaurant (Leixlip)
Main Street, Leixlip, Kildare

We frequently dine at Da Vinchi's and never have come away disappointed. Excellent value and always a good atmosphere. Also some excellent good deals available for early evening etc. Always busy which is a good sign these times. My recent visit again lived up to expectations with excellent starter and main course. We skipped desserts this time due to our budget constraint. Will be back soon again.

L'Officina by Dunne & Crescenzi (Kildare)
Kildare Chic Outlet Shopping Village, Kildare, Kildare Town, Kildare

Nice authentic food served in really nice surroundings. Prices are somewhat expensive considering the extra 10% service charge. Service was poor on my recent visit with a very long wait to be served followed by a long wait for the food to arrive at our table. But certainly will be back.

Fagan's Bar
Main Street, Clane, Clane, Kildare

Im absolutely horrified that in this day and age we have still in Co Kildare have to put up with useless service dished up with a bad attitude. I visited this establisment with a business colleague on Saturday afternoon last. There were no staff on duty in restaurant so I wandered down to end where there was a kitchen with a counter & few startled staff working there. It was 3pm and they told me they had nothing left but soup and could drum up a sandwich with what was left. I took the soup as did my colleague. When I tasted the soup I had to spit it out as it tasted like a salt mine. I told the the member of staff at the cash desk with a bad attitude about the soup and they just shrugged their shoulders and took the cash. Subsequently charged my colleague who informed them that he understood the soup was 'off'. Needless to say we wont be back and bad news travels fast

Millstone, A Dublin Restaurant
39 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I visited Millstone Restaurant last Saturday night and was really extremely impressed. The greeting was great and service was tremendous and the cooking was out of this world for taste, presentation. Genuine good cooking and great value. It's a long time since I was so impressed by a restarant in Ireland or in Europe. Even the live singer/ piano player was incredible, the ideal range of music at the right pitch. I ll bef be back asap.
