good food. however when we tried to get a table on 5 December was told only regulars and we needed a reservation. I live in Sandymount and go there at least 3 times a month and never has a reservation been needed but this night for some reason and never advertised on door we were told no. Also the guy at the door very rude. Will not be back.

food - portions for the size of a mouse, value for money - terrible, staff very slow, we had to ask 4 times for a jug of water. noisy chairs on tiled floors. Rip off and have told this to a number of family members and all thought the same.

Brownes Brasserie
7 Sandymount Green, Dublin 4, Sandymount, Dublin

over priced. We went for tapas, menu said sliders -- arrived with one tiny burger and loads of lettuce. The cheese board consisted of 2 small prices of cheese and again loads of lettuce. Our other two tapas. the prawns --- good, rosotto balls, horrible. The place was empty no atmosphere, the music wasn't bad tough. for 3 tapas, 1 cheese board --- no drinks 38 euro very expense and portions tiny. Could not recommend.

An Bhialann
120 Ranelagh, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

Excellent --- food incredible, the steaks to the prawns melt in your mouth. Josephine the manager really good, gave us a wonderful table, arranged a cake for one of the party whose birthday it was. The atmosphere, everything 100%, nothing could be faulted --- we will be back.

All I can say is excellent to everything, food, service, setting.

PJ O Hare's Oyster Bar & Restaurant
Tholsel St, Carlingford, Louth., Carlingford, Louth

eat regularly here but last time not great. food was served in a very rushed manner, chips looked like the bottom of the fryer, hard. portions very small. we had a table near the bar and we had to keep moving everytime a barman/staff member went by the table. also people just drinking at bar knocking our plates. all in all not a good night at all --- food and staff

Le Bon Crubeen
81-82 Talbot Street, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

We had a voucher and as we were told at the beginning about "a special" drink that was on we thought it was going to be part of the meal...we know wine would not be. However our voucher was for 90 euro and our meal only came to 78....they could have allowed the SPECIAL to be part of that. The table was crammed, no break offered with starters and to come to think of it we were not even offered the wine list. They seemed too busy to cope last night. All I can say is that I am glad I was on a voucher and had not paid the full amount. Definitely not worth it.

PJ O Hare's Oyster Bar & Restaurant
Tholsel St, Carlingford, Louth., Carlingford, Louth

Food absolutely excellent. However for the price portions were very small. In our party we had three men and all three meals would have fed one. In fact they had to order lots of side dishes to make up for the small main course. Saying that though they served as much wonderful brown bread we wanted. Only other small issue was for the prices of the food, it was extremely crowded and when we were eating people were standing over us drinking, maybe they should keep the food part slightly separate from the bar. Also whenever the front door of the bar opened the open fire blew in a cloud of smoke and was a little uncomfortable. But all in all it is a wonderfull but touristly place.

Rigby's Deli and Dining Room
126 Leeson Street, City Centre South, Dublin

We had booked to go this this restaurant for a table at 7. When we arrived it was freezing inside (it was pouring rain outside), the door was half open. We we shown to our table and immediately i was told we need the table back by 9, this I was not told at the time of booking & in fact had called twice re our booking. The table was small, the chairs felt like garden chairs, very uncomfortable and again very cold. My huband looked at me and said lets go, this is not great and we hadn't even seen the menu. As we got to leave we were then told it is ok you can have the table, please stay, but it was a cold and uninviting restaurant.

Farm Restaurant (Leeson St)
133 Upper Leeson St, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

Went to Farm restaurant on Leeson Street and all I can say from the minute we walked thru the door till we left --- excellent. The staff really friendly and helpful at each course. The atmosphere was lovely and warm. The restaurant was full but you never felt squeezed in. It was my husbands birthday and the staff brought out his dessert and sang to him. Everything was really good. The food was incredibly, from my veg cakes to my husband's fish pie and the starters - I had the hummous and my other half the soup, the presentation was great. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful evening to be remembered.

Jaipur Restaurant (Dalkey)
21 Castle Street, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin

For the first time I ate here would have been about 6 weeks ago and I have been there at least 4 times since. The food is excellent, the service equally. This has to be the best Indian Restaurant I have ever eaten in.

Sika Restaurant
Powerscourt Hotel Restaurant & Spa, Powerscourt, Wicklow

Food OK, by no means great, do not know what all the big deal is made of this restaurant. Room is plain. Service was excellent, this I have to say, Price of food - ridiculus

Food was excellent, wonderfully presented and from starters to main courses for the two of us superb. Service excellent. Only thing was in this time of "recession" the prices were a little excessive considering the sizes of the portions.

Excellent food, will definitely be back again

Baan Thai (Ballsbridge)
16 Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Food excellent. Atmosphere not great, tables way too close together and everytime waiter came by to another table you had to move your arms in, move chair. Also no privacy as the tables are nearly on top of each other. But this is only minor the food is superb and will definitely be back. But they could remove a few tables!!!

Marios (Sandymount)
2 Sandymount Green, Dublin 4, Sandymount, Dublin

Go here a lot and never a bad meal. Service, atmosphere great. Only thing is never change the menu and their desserts are all out of a packet. Always busy and must go early, they don't get bookings but they will take your number and call as soon as table is free. Staff great and friendly. Never a bad meal.

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Go to Rolys quite a bit but last night was very disappointing. Service not great. Only two of us, females and took forever for staff to take our order, let alone try and get a jug of water. They were rushing around all the bigger tables. Starters good but portions small. The main course, beef pie very disappointing, all sauce and no beef, in fast I counted only 3 pieces of beef. Veg excellent. Desserts excellent. This has to be the first time I was disappointed - maybe just a bad night all around. May leave it for a while before going back again.

Mao Restaurant (Dun Laoghaire)
The Pavillion, South Co, Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

Eat here regularly and my whole family enjoy the variety of healthy food. Only gave 2 and half stars to atmosphere because sometimes find the tables are way too close if only two of you are eating out. Plus value of main courses is excellent but find desserts/after dinner drinks a little over-priced. But saying all that really love the place and will always go back.

Gleesons
44 Booterstown Avenue, Booterstown, Dublin

Eat here very regularly and have never been disappointed. The service/staff always so very helpful. Whenever I have relatives staying over and we want to eat out we always go to Gleesons. Saturday evenings is always lovely atmosphere, very busy but a great buzz

Brownes Deli and Cafe
18 Sandymount Green, Dublin 4, Sandymount, Dublin

Very over priced - even their coffee at least 20-30cent more expensive than any other place in Sandymount. But the main thing the staff - rude, inattentive, at counter and serving. Although one guy - excellent. But one staff member out of all. Used to go in a lot, but not anymore. Food OK but nothing to go on about. Portions very small. But I think if staff are good but this was not the case. Will not be going back again.

Ravi's Kitchen - duplicate
174 Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Food, service excellent. I only gave atmosphere a 3 because on the night we were there we were seated by the window and it was so cold and a very bad draught coming in. But only a small thing when everything else was wonderful. I am always a little wary of suishi but there was no need with Koishi. I will definitely be back again and soon. I passed on to my work colleagues the next day and all of them are going to try now

Three Qs
Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow

Only went once but may go back again, the service was terrible. I was a guest of a work colleague, but all of us at the table were disappointed. Food was just OK. For the price not at all happy

Avoca Handweavers
Kilmacanogue, Bray, Bray, Wicklow

The Fern house restaurant. Have eaten a few times throughout 2008 and booked a few weeks before Xmas to make sure we got a table. Three us us ate lunch and all three of our meals were great. Two of us has the Pate platter and it was excellent, the presentation, portion size - all of it. The atmosphere is beautiful, tables are very well spaced and no one is top of another. Will definitely be back again.
