My family and I decided to have lunch on Saturday afternoon in the bar in the Arlington hotel. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. As most of my family don't eat meat, we had very little choice on the menu but in fairness that doesn't really bother us as we are used to it and can usually find something. My sister and I decided to order the prawns from the starters menu with side order of fries. My sister and mother just ordered fries with a side salad and coleslaw. What we received was a disgrace. When the prawns arrived, there were 4 prawns on a plate with a big bunch of mixed leaves in the centre. I wouldn't mind if they were decent fresh prawns but they were so small we had to practically search for them on the plate. I asked the waiter to see what he could do because we refused to pay € 8 for 4 prawns and a bunch of leaves. The waiter returned and said that the sous chef said that was all I was getting as it is a "starter". I asked to speak to the manager and after asking 3 times and waiting about 15 minutes, the manager finally came over. In fairness to him he seen my point and returned with a plate with a lot more (if not a lot smaller) prawns, and I use the term "prawns" lightly in this case. My sister and mother received a bowl of lettuce leaves and a separate bowl of coleslaw and were charged €8!!! €4 for a small bowl of coleslaw and €4 for a small bowl of leaves. Side salad, in my opinion, usually contains at least a few tomatoes, onion, dressing etc. I am really annoyed with the service and the food that was served up to us. I think it was a disgrace. Please go spend your hard earned money in one of the thousands of other establishments in Dublin City.
