I made my third visit to the Hamptons this weekend with a friend for dinner, enticed by the Early Bird deal - 3 courses for €25 and €10 (or €30 for 2) for a bottle. Straight up - this is one of the best meal deals in Limerick, and the 'early bird' last until 10.30PM! Prior to this deal I found the Hamptons to be overpriced and overrated, but have since changed my mind. For the starters I had the Homemade Duck Rolls which despite not having a whole lot of duck were very tasty, and the pickled cucumber was a lovely accompaniment. My friend had the Chicken Satay Skewers, and while he didn't remark on them there wasn't a scrap of meat left on the sticks. For mains the two of us opted for the Hampton's famous Bang Bang Chicken, a must eat if you ever visit. I had mash and steamed veg with mine but I had almost enough to eat in the chicken which was plentiful. I was a little disappointed - it didn't taste as good as I remembered from a previous visit but still quite tasty. Desserts are a bit of a disappointment, I had a berry jelly thing in a shot glass, my friend had Banoffi Pie, had it not been inclusive in the meal deal we wouldn't have bothered. The wine - a Savignon Blanc was also nicer than a typical house white. 3 course meal for 2 with a bottle of vino was €60 and worth it. The service was also top notch. But if the meal deal went I wouldn't rush to return.

Bella Italia
43A Thomas Street, Limerick City, Limerick

Bella Italia is still one of my favourites in Limerick. I was there recently for lunch and had a chicken salad, my companions all had pasta and proclaimed their dishes to be extremely tasty. My salad was gorgeous, plentiful and less than €10 - happy days. Service was a mite slow but it was lunchtime to be fair. Would always recommend it and will return soon.

Milano (Limerick)
Harveys Quay, Limerick City, Limerick

Milanos is a nice restuarant ,the staff are very friendly and prompt, the food is very tasty and the quality is consistant. However there are a few issues I have with the place. It's very parent friendly and often packed to the rafters so on a busy night be prepared for noise - quiet and intimate it ain't! I normally go for salads but they are quite expensive, €13/€14 for a salad is a bit much, but the special offers on pizzas midweek is very good value and they are lovely. I'd go to Milanos as a treat but a three course meal deal elsewhere would always beat it hands down.

Azur
8 Georges Quay, Limerick City, Limerick

I ate here about 2 months ago with a friend for the first time and I am trying to find an excuse to go back! We went early in the evening so were able to avail of an early bird. I had scallops to start which were extremely tasty while my companion had the seafood chowder. Our portions were extremely generous but not so much that we were too full for the second course. For mains I went for lamb which was exquisite while my friend stayed with fish and had seabass. Both dishes were faultless. For three courses, a coffee and 2 glasses of wine we paid about €70 - it was worth more and we would have paid it. There was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant - it's beautifully decorated and I have to hand it to our waitress, she was on her own and no one in the restaurant was left waiting for food. I've been recommending Azur to everyone since and I cannot wait to return.

Kudos (Limerick)
Clarion Hotel Limerick, Limerick City, Limerick

I recently dined here with a friend and I would have been better off ordering in a take-away. While Kudos is a lovely place it's just far too expensive for what is on offer. I ordered the Shanghai Duck Hoi Sin, which was €15, a nice dish but nothing special - I was disappointed. My companion ordered the Kampung Satay and Caesar Salad, which he deemed nice but like me, said it was nothing special. To be fair, the service was good and the setting was lovely. In my opinion Kudos need to lower prices and improve on their quality of food given how many restaurants are in Limerick City offering more for less. I wouldn't be in a mad rush to return.

Marco Polo not live
O'Connell Street, Limerick City, Limerick

I regularly dine in Luigi Malones in Limerick and have yet to be disappointed in the quality of food or service. In terms of choice their menu is probably the best in the city, I have not seen such a vast selection in other restaurants. I usually opt for the Yaki Soba which is delicious; other lovely dishes I enjoy are Luigi's Lasagne, the Malone's hamburger and the Chicken salad is good too. One thing that occasionally puts me off is when it gets quite busy, but there's little they can do about that. Nice restaurant and staff, good value for money and the cocktails Apres Work aren't bad either! One eatery I regularly recommend.

Copper & Spice (Limerick City)
2 Cornmarket Row, Limerick, Limerick City, Limerick

I decided to try the Sushi Night in Copper and Spice after seeing their ad in a local paper - big fan of sushi, hard to get it in Limerick! For €20 I received a decent portion of sushi including a little jug of sake and a starter. I ordered basmati rice as extra but I had plenty from between my starter and the sushi platter. It was absolutely delicious and I would order it again. My companion opted out of having sushi - she did not want anything spicy so she asked our waitress (who was very helpful) for a recommendation and she had a korma, which she was crazy about. The service was great, staff were quick, helpful, efficient and the atmosphere was lovely. I would definitely return.

Siam Corner
Henry Street, Limerick City, Limerick

I have been coming to this restaurant with friends and family since it first opened several months ago, and the very fact I go back for more is a testament to how good the food is at the Siam Corner! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the combination of relaxed atmosphere and friendly service makes you want to stay long after the meal is over. I usually opt for Starter Platter, a mix of everything from the starter menu - from Thai fish cakes, chicken satay skewers, prawn toast (which is unlike anything I had ever tasted before) and more. My favourite main course is Phad Thai Kung - Thai ribbon noodles with large prawns in a beautiful Thai sauce with ground peanut and a wedge of lemon on the side. The duck served with any kind of sauce is another favourite. As a Chinese food junkie I was eager to see how it measures up at a Thai restaurant and it's incomparable. The duck here is just exquisite. The food can be made to suit, so if you don't like your food too spicy you can request this. The food is reasonably priced, with the early bird menus available throughout the week the best bet if you wish to have a three course meal. I have brought many people to this restaurant (which is also a take-away that delivers) and I have yet to hear a bad word from them and I have always enjoyed a pleasant dining experience here. Even if you are unfamiliar with Thai food - give this place a go - there's something for everyone at the Siam Corner.
