Citron offers fine dining at an affordable price! From first entry to leaving, the service was warm, if a little too relaxed, however this suited our evening. The portions may look dainty, however with the time taken to eat the courses, along with bread and amuse bouche, it would satisfy most appetites. The menu is well balanced, wine is appropriately priced and the service is what you would expect from a top establishment. High point - the Strawberry Soup(excellent). Low point(at a push) - the puree with the scallops - drop the parmesan! It just doesnt work.

The starters and Main courses here are good, decent portions and an expansive choice. My only quibble was the poppadums to start - not in keeping with traditional indian restaurants with a generous dip, instead with a small plate with a smear of sauce. Overall, Id visit again.

Kanum Thai Ltd
77 Mespil Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

There are few restaurants which offer main courses of this quality, let alone take-away restaurants. The ingredients are well cooked, using quality ingredients, fresh veg - yes veg such as green beans, squash and courgette - not the usual carrot and onion pairing that most 'authentic' thai establishments offer. Overall, Id be hard pushed to recommend a better takeaway in Dublin - if it exists, Id love to try it! High point - Panang Curry with a dual portion of fresh prawns & steamed rice. Low point - some of the starters are dainty and seem overpriced vs the mains.

The Counter Dundrum
Pembroke District, (adjacent to the Mill Pond at Town Square), Dundrum, Dublin

Ive been here a number of times. The burgers are great, and the quality of the ingredients matches the price. The only let down is the poor service. The staff are pleasant, but really arent as attentive as they should be. Im a patient diner, however I was even found searching for the staff to ask for the bill and to even ask them to take our money! I wouldnt be going here if I had a post dinner appointment.

Buenos Aires Grill
Unit 2 Castle Way, Golden Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Good Points: Excellent Steak. Perfectly cooked. Poor Points: Poor started - Salad lacked dressing and imagination Poor dessert - Lava cake lacked the lava! Worst Points: Argentinian Dessert of the week was Eton Mess - frankly a joke. The service was extremely poor, infact there were no redeeming features of the service. Rude, unattentive, lacked knowledge of the menu - for a restaurant charging these prices you should afford decent staff to the paying customers. I certainly would go back for a main course only if a takeaway service was available as there is no way I would eat in again. A real pity

The Gingerman Waterford
6 Arundel la Waterford Co. Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford

I was in for lunch on na saturday, clearly a busy day. The food was good, Id the club sandwich and, even though pricey at almost €8, it is good. The staff were busy, and therefore the service was maybe not excellent, but was quite good given the workload. Overall, definitely worth a look.

The Strawberry Tree-Brooklodge
The Brooklodge Hotel, Macreddin Village, Aughrim, Wicklow

We visited here for my parents wedding anniversary, but it was overall a disappointing experience. At €65 for the set meal, we expected a great dining experience, but sadly did not get it. The food is greatly overpriced, adn is not up to the standard of other restaurants in the wicklow area. The wine is extremely overpriced - we bought a red for €39, which cost me €6 in france at christmas time! The service was slightly abrupt. Overall, it is organic, but the value does not shine through - you will get better value and quality elsewhere.

Mao Restaurant (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Very nice food, at a high price. The salads are tasty though!

Joels Restaurant
Newlands Cross, Naas Road, West Dublin, Clondalkin, Dublin

Excellent for a pre night out meal in town! The service is very sharp indeed, food cooked well. It is not fine dining, just very well done home cooking. Well priced, definite hit!

Captain America's Cookhouse And Bar
44 Grafton Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

You have to take this place for what it is - a gourmet fast food restaurant. It is not going to be fine dining, just tasty comfort food to be had with a cold beer. I think its far superior to its rivals in town!

Toscana (Dun Laoghaire)
5 Windsor Terrace, South Co. Dublin , Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

Visited for a work christmas party. The food was 3/5 - it couldnt be faulted, but for the price it was fine - not as nice as the sister toscana on dame st. Nice for food on the go, but not a celebration destination.

Wicklow Arms
Delgany, Delgany, Wicklow

The food here is good, but the service is very bad! Almost non existant, which is a pity as the meal was definitely reasonably priced and tasty! However, the wait for food would cause me not to come back.

The Old Candle
Main Street, Newcastle, Co Wicklow, Newcastle, Wicklow

I went here for a birthday meal, and it didnt disappoint. It is expensive, but the quality with that price is there. The menu was compact, but was reassuring as they advertise as using only fresh, local ingredients. Id definitely go back on a special occasion, but for an average of €45 per head plus drinks, I might just go for an early bird menu at €30.

The Burnaby Lounge Bar
Church Rd Greystones, Greystones, Wicklow

Overall, the pub is a disaster. There seems to be a divide within the staff - I was told that a bar person couldnt clear our table as it was the waiting staffs job! The food was overpriced and bland. There are far better pub lunches to be had in this area, Id never go back.

Three Qs

Ive been here umpteen times, and the food has always been good. A little more expensive than surrounding restaurants, but the food makes it worthwhile. A definite hit!

The Grove Bar

For a pub which is new to food, they have taken to it well. Nice, compact menu. Food tastes as good as it looks.

Toscana City Centre
3 Cork Hill, Dame Street (opposite Dublin Castle), Dublin City Centre, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin

Ate the early bird menu. Excellent value and choice. The food was of a good standard, with healthy portions and good service. We were seated in the corner behind a partition, which took away from the atmosphere, but overall well worth it!
