Excellent for a quick lunch. I have never been disappointed by the fish and chips. Excellent chocolate mousse also. Service is friendly and efficient.

Rodeo Restaurant
The Halls, Quay Street, Galway City, Galway

Had a quick lunch here on Saturday with friends. The mushroom soup, chowder and goats cheese salad all hit the spot. Lovely flavours and generous portions. Nice touch to offer us a few newspapers while we were waiting for our food. Service was very good from a young staff. Enjoyed the bonus of the Jammie Wagon Wheels with coffee!

Tamarind (Salthill)
157 Upper Salthill, Salthill, Galway City, Galway

Had dinner here on Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy and we had to wait about 15 minutes for our table even though we had a booking - a stag party were on their way out, which is just as well as there was quite a roudy party of girls in another section. Service was attentive and the food arrived without delay. The main courses were the star attraction. My friends had the Prawn Scallops and Skewered Monkfish which were very good. I thoroughly enjoyed my red chicken curry with fried rice. Portions were large, so we shared one dessert of icecream between us, again it was very good, particularly the strawberry. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys thai food and it is in a handy location for the start to a night out.

Camilaun Restaurant
Ardilaun Hotel, Taylors Hill, Galway City, Galway

I ate here with 3 friends as part of a 2 night B&B/Dinner package over the weekend. We arrived to a busy dining room just after 8.30 and were seated in a corner by the window at the back of the room. We were then promptly forgotten about for over 20 minutes - we were not offered drinks or menus. We eventually caught the attention of a waiter and service was very good from then on. There was a reasonably wide selection to choose from. Starters and deserts were very good. 2 of us had the pork which was disappointing as it was very dry. We also had breakfast on 2 mornings, which was standard hotel fare - nothing to write home about.

Marios (Sandymount)

I had dinner here with 2 friends this evening. We started with a shared bruschetta which was very good. We followed with 3 different pizzas, all of which were very good. Lovely think crusts and served without delay. Dessert of banoffi was unexciting. Good value for money overall. Just one small complaint - the 'diet coke' was clearly not diet 'coke' and were completely flat.

Milano (Clarion Quay)
Unit 6, Excise Walk, Clarion Quay, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin

This has been a lunchtime regular for many years. Efficient service means you can be in and out within the hour. Also handy for meetings friends with baby-in-buggy in tow. Their pizza specials are consistently good and service is usually very friendly. Not the cosiest of venues.

Bon Appetit
9 James Terrace, Malahide, Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

Had a late Sunday lunch in the Brasserie with a friend. Room was busy but service was very attentive. The quality of food was as good as my last visit for an early bird dinner a few months ago. Comfortable room and did not feel rushed. Will be back again.

Good pub grub in relaxed surroundings. Great pints of the black stuff. Attentive staff.

Eddie Rockets (Santry)
The Omni Shopping Centre, North Dublin, Santry, Dublin

Brought my 5 year old godchild and his little brother here for a treat after seeing Santa before Christmas. The place was a little chaotic when we arrived and we were shown to a booth which was not entirely clean. Service was dreadful. Took about 15 minutes to get drinks and then the food started arriving piecemeal. Asked for knives and forks and were given 2 sets between 3 of us. Had to go the counter twice to ask for additional more. We tried to play the jukebox and when it didn't work, the waitress was less than helpful. Burgers are good, but waiting staff disappointing.

The Cellar Restaurant
The Merrion Hotel, Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Found lunch here recently enjoyable as usual. Friendly staff and delicious food served elegantly. Have to keep myself from ordering the fish and chips every time. Desserts to die for, particularly those special ones at Christmas.

Il Vignardo
Beresford Hotel, 21 Store Street, City Centre North, IFSC, Dublin

I ate here recently with friends before going to the Abbey. Perfect spot for a quick dinner. Pizza was excellent as usual, as were the pasta dishes enjoyed by my 3 friends. Excellent value menu.

Rolys Bistro

Had lunch here twice before Christmas. Lunch menu is really good value for money and the room upstairs is always very buzzy. Attentive service. Only negative is that it is very difficult to get a private table here.

Haven't been here for a while, but met a friend for lunch last week. Pizza as good as always and service was very smooth. Will keep on coming back.

L'Ecrivain Restaurant
109a Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Had an enjoyabley lunch with a friend here pre Christmas. Service was as good as always and the food was full of flavour as always. Only disappointment was that the room was very quiet until about half an hour before we left. Maybe we should have booked a 'late lunch' too

Millstone, A Dublin Restaurant
39 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Had an early dinner here before Christmass with friends. Place was busy early evening, but the crowd had departed by 9. Live guitar added to the atmosphere. Extensive menu, but we stuck to the pizzas. Large and very good. One of my friends had one with kangaroo meat which I though tasted a little suspect, but she enjoyed it anyway. Good value, but decor a little rough around the edges.

Restaurant Ten Fourteen
324 Clontarf Road, Clontarf, Dublin

Ate hear recently on a Tuesday night. Restaurant was buzzy. Georgeous salads to start followed by Halibut and Braised Venison from the specials menu. Really delicious. Only negative was that it took ages to get attention of waitress when we wanted to pay. I suppose it is nice not to be pushed out the door at the end of an enjoyable meal. Will be back again soon.
