The Firefly Steakhouse restaurant
4 George's Quay, Limerick, Limerick City, Limerick
Reviewed 26th August 2013 ( visited 24th August 2013 )This restaurant only opened 6 weeks ago I was informed by the manager and is a sister restaurant of the lovely Red Onion Restaurant in Limerick. I went here on a Saturday night with a voucher for 2 steak mains, 2 sides and a half bottle of wine which cost me €29. We made a booking and arrived on Saturday night. I was surprised at how small the restaurant was but our table was ready and we had a look at the menus. We ordered mussels and the breaded scampi to start. They were both very tasty and we were impressed. We also got the house Chile Savignon Blanc as the wine which was included which the voucher which was delicious. We then ordered another full bottle as it so good. As it was steak house and we had bought the voucher for steaks so we said we would both get the rib eye steak with a choice of sauce and potatoes as our side. There was plenty of choice on the menu otherwise however. Our steaks arrived and we decided to order a side of roast veg to share as there was only one side included with the steaks (even thought the menu says that veg and choice of potatoes are included with every main, this doesn't include steaks apparently). I was very happy with my steak but the other wasn't the best cut and not as tasty. I ordered creamy mushroom sauce to go with it but it looked and tasted the same as the peppercorn that was also ordered so I didn't have too much of that. We then decided to go for dessert. They change weekly so I got the roasted marshmallow and chocolate upside down cheesecake which was by far the most exquisite dessert I have ever had.. We also got the apple pie and ice cream. We ended up paying another 56e on top of what was spent on the voucher which I thought was a bit expensive for what we got but overall it was a lovely meal. The service was great and the staff are very friendly.
Olio and Farina
Little Catherine Street, Limerick, Limerick City, Limerick
I came here with a voucher delighted to have found a new restaurant in Limerick. When I was booking the table for a Friday night (on a Tuesday) I was told that they didn't have anything except 6pm as they do live Jazz on Fridays from 7.30pm. We took the 6pm anyway. We took our table and ordered. I ordered what I thought were bread sticks and some sides, but was actually a chicken and chopped olive salad with one piece of bread underneath. I didn't finish as I don't like olives. To me it didn't match what I read on the menu. We also ordered this beautiful hot fresh floury bread with tomatoes in it. As a main, I got the special (chicken with creamy pesto tagliatelle). It was lovely, and we also ordered the lasagne. The portion of the lasagne was a bit small and the garlic bread was quite then (as if pressed in a George Forman) but it was nice. For dessert we only got one, the cheesecake but it wasn't great. Overall, it was good value for money with the voucher but I wouldn't be rushing back. I think it's more of a lunch place than an evening meal out. Also, we left at about 7.15 and there were plenty of empty tables, so I didn't see the rush to get out for the table to be taken. To end on a good note, the staff were very friendly and obliging.

La Cucina, Castletroy
5 University Court, Castletroy, Castletroy, Limerick
Ate here with 2 others on a Friday evening. While it was quite busy we got a table after maybe 10 minutes waiting (you can't book). We had the bosciola, a spicy Bolognese dish and the carbonara. All delicious, no complaints. The staff are so friendly and it cost just over 30e for everything which is very good. As below, I would love if they extended so that it could fit more people, it's such a thriving business and is very popular. They also have a take away menu. The set up is quite informal, all high table and stools and a long bar with stools along the window. Desserts look amazing and everything is so freshly cooked. Can't recommend more highly.

It was my first time here last night, and I was a little disappointed. They do a very good value menu, 10e for 2 courses up to 5pm, and 25e for a 4 course after 5pm or the a la carte menu. As we were there after 5pm we went with the a la carte menu. The place itself is very well decorated and looks very appealing, I like the lighting up by the bars. The staff are very friendly and informative. We ordered bruschetta and chicken wings to start. The bruschetta was a little soggy and the chicken wings were battered (I thought they would have come with just the skin and in a spicy sauce) and came with a yogurt sauce and salad. For mains, we ordered the bosciola and the cod. There was chicken and bacon in the bosciola and while the bosciola itself was very tasty, the sauce was lovely and I love the peas in it, the chicken was rubbery so I didn't eat it. The cod was well cooked and tasty. We ordered the side order of stir fried veg which went well with it. Overall not very impressed, 42e for everything (we didn't have drinks, just water) which wasn't bad but I don't know if I would go back.
Copper & Spice Restaurant
Above The Mill Bar, Anncotty Village, Annacotty, Limerick
I come here the odd time and have to say I always leave happy. This visit I only had a main however. After ordering, the staff bring out poppadum's to the table with 3 dips, mint, mango chutney and a spicy veg mix. These are so tasty. I had the chicken Makhani for main with a "half and half" which is half rice (we chose pilau) and half naan bread which is always freshly cooked. It was a little slow coming out on this occasion. All their food is cooked fresh and you can notice the difference. They do great 'combo' menu offers which range in value, however expect to pay approx. 15e per main (including a side). The set up is lovely inside, and the staff are very friendly.

I had the early bird here with friends (which ends at 6pm). I would recommend booking in advance as they tend to be busy. €20 for 4 courses is unbelievable value and there is a great choice. I had the chicken sings to start, the sauce was lovely, they weren't drowned in it, which I prefer but they were a little fatty I thought. For main I got salmon which comes on a lovely celery and white sauce bed with a side salad. For dessert I had the fresh fruit meringue and a tea. Everyone was happy with their food and 2 of the girls took it home in a doggy bag as the portions were very generous. The only thing lacking was the service, it was a little slow but other than that no complaints. Everything was top notch and I will definitely return. I also had the take away pizza the week before (Hawaiian). They use real pineapple on the pizza which was amazing.
Cafe Boulevard - Baggot St
132 Lower Baggot Street, Ballsbridge, Dublin
Booked a table through Menupages and ate here with friends at lunch time mid-week. I booked as lunch time is quite busy so I wanted to make sure we got a nice table. I don't think the staff knew I had made a booking but there were a few free tables at 12.30 so we were fine. Within 20 minutes the place was full and there were people waiting. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the food. The food came out quite quick (knowing most people are on an hour break) and was very tasty. I had the Chicken fillet burger (wedges came with it- both were lovely) and the others had the cajun chicken wrap which they said was delicious. Most lunch dishes were under €10 which is great value for money. I had only been to the Cafe Boulevard on Exchequer Street, never Baggot Street. I would highly recommend both!
39 Castlewood Avenue, South Dublin , Rathmines, Dublin
I ate here with my boyfriend on Saturday night. I made the booking on the Thursday and was glad I did. **TIP** if anyone is eating here for the first time and is unfamilir with the set up I would most definitely request to be seated up at the bar. We were greeted at the door by my first name and shown to our seats. If you are looking for a fun filled, interactive night out - this is it. The chefs all chat to you as they cook, every one eating at the counter interacts and talks to eachother. I won't ruin the surprise of the chef's 'activities' but as the guy beside me said - "When in Rome". Our starter was the Californian rolls - I'm not a fan of raw fish but this was delicious. We ordered the chicken and salmon as mains. All mains come with fried rice and veg along with either Miso soup or salad. We went for the soup. I have to say the food was very tasty (perhaps a little salty) and it is the overall experience that made the night. There were also a few birthdays on and the waiters bring out the guitars and tambourines and have the whole restaurant singing along. Very good value on the house white wine (Chile Savignon) for €16. We also shared a dessert. Overall our meal was just over €60 for the two of us and it was worth every penny. While it's not cheap, it's by no means expensive and we had such a great night. Would recommend for groups/couples/families.

I was here for the lunch menu with 2 others. I have to say it's great value. 2 courses (one being tea/coffee) is €9.50 or 3 courses (one being tea/coffee) is €12.50. I got the chichen satay to start and chicken blackbean for main with tea to end. Great value for money - staff are always very friendly and attentive. If you are there for an hour lunch, you might be a bit pushed for time with the 3 courses, but if you have the time it's worth it.
26 Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Went here for a group lunch. The staff were lovely, very polite. Service was perfect, food was exquisite. I got the Dublin bay prawn risotto, as most dishes were fish. The standard of food for the price you pay is excellent. Only one issue, I think they might have forgotten one of the orders as one man only came out as the others were finishing, but overall a fantastic experience.
Camile Thai Rathmines
133 Lower Rathmines Road, South Dublin, Rathmines, Dublin
Ate here recently with friends but have also gotten take aways since. I found the staff lovely and friendly and they are all about customer satisfaction. We were asked was everything ok, we were told that they were expanding their menu and would we like discount vouchers for return visit with the new menu. Only comment is that the restaurant setting doesn't match the high level of food they serve. It could do with a little revamp I think. Also, when I got my first delivery from them a week later they rang me the next day asking me how was the food and service and was tehre anything they could do to improve - they also put €10 on my account to use for my next order. I was quite impressed with their emphasis on customer service. On top of that the food (I got the red curry sharing dish) was top notch, very tasty and portion size was perfect. Will be back!
Seagrass of Portobello Bridge
30 South Richmond Street, Dublin 8, Portobello, Dublin
Went here for a meal with my boyfriend. i had been before, he had not. He could not get over the quality of the food. I had the breads and dips to start - he had the goats cheese. I had salmon for main and he had scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection, so tasty with beautiful presentation. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was our table was by the door and with smokers leaving and coming back in made it a little chilly but that's the only downfall. Will definitely be returning.
FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin
Gorgeous setting with nice music and great food, however staff have a serious attitude problem which ruined the atmosphere for the group. Would put me off going back as were reminded the second we took our seats that we were to be out by 8.30 on the dot as they had another booking... Not very welcoming is it?
2 Terenure Road East, Rathgar, Dublin
Ate here with family a few days ago for the second time. Love the choice, love the food, and the service was great. I had the thai curry, and other dishes were the cod, the beef fajita and the burger. Portions were perfect, big, but able to finish them, and the waiters were very helpful, although I did find they were a little too eager to clear the table when we'd put down our cutlery! Would definately return as the food is brilliant value for money.
137 Rathmines Road, Dublin 6 , South Dublin, Rathmines, Dublin
Came here with a group a few weeks ago for the first time. Didn't have a table and was worried as it was a Thursday night, but we were led to the square table at the back of the restaurant after a 5 minute wait. Service was brilliant, with the waitress joining us for a chat while she took the orders. We weren't used to some of the choices on the menu and inquired about the organic coke etc that was to offer. All the burgers were amazing, with plenty of fillings, almost too much to eat! Side orders were the coleslaw and potato chips, which were a nice change from the thin fingers of oil you see at McDonalds. The ketchup was original tomato sauce which actually tasted of tomatoes and the organic coke, tasted like Dr. Pepper. They had old fashioned lemonade which I enjoyed. The atmosphere and staff were lovely and the DJ had old style music on in the background. Quite a noisy, busy atmosphere which we could enjoy from our table, but I'm not so sure about the people sitting on the long benches in the front of the resturant. The queue for tables started just after we were seated so we were lucky, but will definitely return. They have a lovely take on a "burger and chip meal"
Furama Chinese Restaurant
Eirpage House, Donnybrook, Donnybrook, Dublin
Ate here with friends a few weeks ago. Food was amazing. We didn't order starters, but straight onto the main courses. 4 of the 5 arrived together but the last one was another few minutes later, so we started then. I had the sizzling chicken satay, and one of my friends had some King Prawn in a creamy sauce. Tried some. Both were amazing, and I will definitely return. Service was very prompt, a little too hasty for us to order but very helpful. The wine was lovely and they were only too happy to recommend their supplier if we were to order from them to take a bottle home. For someone who isn't the biggest Chinese fan, I was very impressed with both the layout and the food. Will be back soon
