Visited here last week with my girlfriend and another couple. Hadn't heard about the four course meal for €25. The four of us had starters which were all divine, (Seafood patties x1, potato skins x1, Cajun mackerel fillets x1 and a soup...... all excellent. Four mains including T-bone steaks x2, Sea Bass x1 and Chicken escalope all presented well and four exquisite desserts, four coffees and two bottles of wine.... One hundred and thirty euros ,€65 per couple!!!! Unbelievable value!!! Atmosphere was a buzz, we had a table that overlooked the whole restaurant, which was full as far as i could see. Service was just the way we like it. Swift and not in your face! We were having a drink at the table when the manager asked us had we seen the smoking area. We asked could we move and within two minutes there was a table brought up for us and we sat in warmth for the rest of the evening. Couldn't say enough good things... Booked in for sat night again!! Other pubs should take stock!!!

The Ballymore Inn
Main Street, Ballymore Eustace, Kildare

Where do i start? Firstly I heard this pub won best country pub for food so I went on their home page and found directions which said at the end "If you cant find us ring us and we'll give you directions over the phone" An hour in the car twenty phone calls later they never answered. Arrived in to a cold and echoed room.and heard the bar phone ringing,,, they didn't answer that either! Chicken wings for starters €11.95.... What?? My medallions were beautiful, but at €29.95 they ought to be! My girlfriends lamb casserole.. uneventful but OK! Glass of Rioja = €6.95, but when the bill arrived it had jumped to €7.25. Homemade choc and hazel nut cake (8 bloody 50) was dry and badly presented. The whole package was Absolutely Average!!!! All the way through our meal three girls dominated the lounge with their phone conversations bouncing from wall to wall. This establishment need to wake up and smell the coffee!!! Prices are ridiculous. Best country pub??? Hmmmm!!!!! Wont fall for that one again!! Makes you wonder who the hell these people are that are rating these places. BUYER BEWARE!!

Caffrey's of Batterstown
Batterstown, Dunboyne, Meath

Have visited caffreys on several occasions with my family. A wonderful greeting and excellent service by the staff at all times. We are all food lovers and its such an enjoyable dining experience every time. The surroundings were obviously well thought out and extremely expensive. Mood is very warm and comfortable. Seats are the same. I found the management to be extremely helpful on one occasion even when they were obviously up to their eyeballs. . which i have to admit impressed me a lot. Food is to die for would eat there every day if i could. DEFINETE WINNER!!
