My go to place in Dublin, love love love this place. Used to not have to book, which was great , but even now they will try really hard to fit you in. The food is great, but the staff are the stars.

Reading the comments in general not sure I was at the same place. Five plates between two worked, food and cooking was fab. Loved the lamb and the duck egg. Happy to go back soon

Montys of Kathmandu

Love the food here but have noticed the last couple of times that a meal for two with wine has got quite a bit more expensive. Maybe "Celtic tiger" is back!

Fish @ The 12th Lock
Castleknock Marina, The Royal Canal, Dublin 15, Castleknock, Dublin

Nice to see a new fish restaurant open. Small choice, but the fish dish I had was lovely. Would like then to offer some simple pan fried options, but I will go back. Wine choices were also good.

Bastion
Market St, Main Street, Kinsale, Cork

Tried Bastion after spotting it last visit to Kinsale in Sept. We booked the tasting menu which was 7 (really 9) courses of fantastic food. Staff are great and it was a lovely evening. I do think the seating could be re-gigged a bit as some tables were bigger than needed (for 2) and if they were reduced in size it would not be so tight in other areas. But I will go back in a heart beat. The locally sourced food was fab, prepared with a lot of love and skill. Wine was also affordable and a good list to chose from.

Set lunch here is so worth the money. Second visit and still smiling from my first! The staff are so good, food is a dream and as it was closing the next day for three months am now waiting to book again. Do not have the big bucks but this lunch deal is a real treat once in a blue moon.

Sage Restaurant
The Courtyard, 8 Main Street, Midleton, Cork

Enjoyed a lovely meal in Sage at the weekend. Food was fab, early evening menus was good value. Service was laid back and it did us good to sit back and relax. Only down side, and out of the restaurants control really, but a table of very loud talkers/screeches were hard to block out.

Electric
41 South Mall, Cork City, Cork

Dined in the new Fish bar upstairs at Electric. Really lovely food, inventive fish dishes and great staff. It was early so hard to say about atmosphere but there was a great relaxed feel to the place. Good wine and seafood platter was fab. One of our group had the lobster club sandwich, really good.

Dobbins Restaurant
15 Stephen Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Was on a deal so value was fantastic, but normally on the expensive Randell. First time there, food was fantasize , staff some of the best ever. It was lunch time and very busy yet they still wanted us to have the best table and experience. Worth going and I will go back. As it was a deal we had a special menu, but lots of choice , want to experience the full menu next time.

Rustic Stone
South George's Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Had lunch, we booked a table for 1pm but did not need to as we were the only ones there, so atmosphere a bit flat to say the least. By the time we finished it was much better, a lot more tables taken and a nice buzz. Food as always was fab, but the thing that puts this up there over fade street I feel is the staff. So friendly and they know their menu. Have been a few times now and will deffo go back again and again. Ps wine selection very good and good price range for by the glass.

Sha-Roe Bistro
Main Street, Clonegal, Carlow

Been here a few times, always lives up to expectation. Food never disappoints and always try to book a table when I know I'm going to be in the area. Almost don't want people to know about it as it will be even harder to get a table.

Zaragoza
South William St., Dublin , South William Street, Dublin

Was just opened, some bits of decor not finished, but staff were really good. Showed us around the venue. We had the lunch option, €15 per person for two tapas, one side and sparkling water. Very tasty and great value, will try again soon.
