Booked using the voucher and was looking forward to the crab pot but unfortunately it was all gone by our 8pm booking :( I had a goat cheese starter which was delicious. My husband had the morrocon veg and lentil soup which was just OK. He had the burger for his main which he claimed was one of the best burgers he had had in a while. I had ordered the fillet steak and on arrival was served a sirloin, staff offered to switch but I didnt mind as we were under pressure with babysitter at home etc. It was a little on the chewy side but did have a nice flavour. The side of fries could have had another few minutes in fryer well thats just how I like them - a little crispy. And the vegetable side of spinach with garlic was not a favourite of mine. All in all the whole experience was OK. There were a few minor details like no salt and pepper on the table, but the service was excellent and every attention given to ensure any other condiments were attained. I think we made some wrong choices and that the food deserves a chance! The setting is comfortable granted you are surrounding the bar but you have your privacy at the same time. The decor is modern and fresh, and even in someways a little American. We liked it!

Hartley's Restaurant
1 Harbour Road, South Co. Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

Dined here last Sunday night - ordered from the set menu. I had starter and main my other half had main and dessert and it was the perfect amount for sharing. The starter of wings was more than enough for two. They were crispy and spicy and just delicious. I ordered the beer battered cod, two pieces, the batter was dry and crispy. The other main ordered was the ribeye steak - succulent and juicy and cooked to perfection. Dessert was a fudge cake sunday and although stuffed I did taste and it was gorgeous. Would highly recomend food, serivce and set menu value. On the downside, drinks were very expensive. One glass of wine E7!!!! :(

Salamanca
1 St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Had an evening meal here with a friend. Both of us like tapas etc and thought we would give this one a try!! Well very very happy. The food was second to none. We had spicy potatoes with chorizo sausage. Mini cod and chips, cod was done in little fingers with a tiny basket of chips and we also shared a pate and brown bread. It was all perfect!! A nice bottle of wine to boot at a reasonable enough price. Will definitely return (soon)

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Met a friend for dinner here prior to taking my son to the Batman show- Place was packed downstairs, so was acomodated upstairs. Waitress could not have been any nicer. We had nacho's, which were declicious. The chicken balls, sauce was a little sweet for my taste. Potato skins were nicely loaded and wings were a little dissappointing to me - always like wings to be crispy not soft. A lot of food for a fairly average price. Would return again chosing a different variety of food.

Bates Restaurant
Main Street, Rathdrum, Rathdrum, Wicklow

Again a wonderful experience at Bates, this time for Sunday lunch. All food cooked perfectly to order. Starters were, scrumptious, 3 of us got the fish cakes with delicious butter sauce, one member of our party got the soup which was lovely also. I had the pork belly, which was beautifully presented in circular parcels and all other members of our party had steak, which went down a treat also. I see there is an early bird dinner menu advertised 2 courses for E15.50 - ABSOLUTE BARGAIN!! Cant wait to book and venture to Rathdrum again!!

Casapepe
Wicklow House, Market Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

Found this visit a little dissappointing. The place was jammers at 8pm on a sat night and there were only 3 people serving tables. Requesting water or a beer would take a long time. We were in a large group and one guys came very early prior to the rest of us, but he then got a Brie on the house during his meal to make up for that. So fair play. My meal was then later than everyone else and they gave a complimentary bottle of wine to the table for this. So although there were a couple of hiccups they were keen to set all straight with us. I really felt that if the number of staff serving was increased these problems could be lessened. Overall a good experience and would go back, perhaps not with such a big group!
