I have eaten several times in Dobbins and have always found it to be excellent. the food is consistently top class and the service above average. On Friday I brought a very good client of mine and her husband and they were very impressed. even the fact that we were seated in a booth (a little tight) and beside a large party of quite loud people didn't detract from our enjoyment. we will be back again.

The Cottage Restaurant (Leitrim)
Jamestown, Carrick On Shannon, Leitrim

As someone who has become accustomed to average food in expensive restaurants it was a real pleasure to eat in The Cottage last Sunday. My wife and I were on a few days break and were joined by her sister who recommended we try this restaurant. Our favourite eatery in Ireland is, by a long way, McNean House in Cavan. The Cottage goes very close to matching Neven's for both invention and quality of food. Our starters were superb, Beef Brisket in an Asian bun, Chicken in a delicious Lemongrass infused sauce and the star, melt in the mouth Scallops, sweet and perfectly cooked. Main courses of Lamb (divine), Duck (succulent and delicious) and John dory (just superb) continued to delight us. The staff were excellent, friendly and knowledgeable and the restaurant is set in a beautiful location. Overall a must try experience for anyone that appreciates great food at very reasonable prices. We will be back very soon.

Deep
12 West Pier, North Co. Dublin, Howth, Dublin

We celebrated the engagement of friends of ours here on Friday night. Excellent service, complimentary prosecco to all was a lovely touch. food was extremely good and atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried. tables are a little tight but didn't cause any major issue. We will definitely be back.

La Perla @ Lyrath Estate Hotel
Paulstown Road, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

Myself and my wife celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary with a weekend away in the Lyrath, Kilkenny, It was our first time there but not our last. we ate in both restaurants, Yindees, Asian Fusion, on the Friday night and the star of the show, La Perla on the Saturday. Service in both was impeccable and the food matched the service. Duty manager, Andy Brown exemplified the quality of the hotel by his attentiveness and courtesy. My only issue was that there weren't more people enjoying the superb food on offer in La Perla, only a handful of table occupied. I would recommend the hotel, the restaurants and the city of Kilkenny to anyone, great weekend.

Bon Appetit
9 James Terrace, Malahide, Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I had been a big fan of the original Bon Appetit and hadn't enjoyed the new version when I had tried it. This time I took the opportunity to try again with a menupages voucher. On arrival I presented the voucher as required and was immediately told that we would be choosing from a "different" menu. I don't understand this logic, the restaurant is obviously trying to encourage customers to return but by classifying them as somehow "lower customers" on arrival they are immediately creating a poor impression. Having said that, the food was extremely good, much better than on my last visit and myself and family enjoyed the evening. Service is still a little over impressed with itself but didn't detract from our night. We will once again add the Bon to our restaurant preferences and will be back.

Mangos Seafood Restaurant
Bridge Street, Westport, Mayo

Mangos was recommended to us by the hotel we stayed in. we were assured of a wonderful meal. we had eaten in a nearby restaurant the night before which was truly excellent so hopes were high for a repeat. unfortunately, we had the kind if meal we have largely come to expect in recent months. nothing terrible but nothing great either. Crab and prawns overcooked for starter, seafood medley for main course which was overpowered by the sauce, none of the delicacy of seafood which you would hope for. No, I didn't offer our comments to the waiter, we weren't asked but the company was so good we let the food pass on the basis that we were having a good time.

Sage Restaurant (Mayo)
10 High Street, Westport, Mayo

My wife and I had dinner in Sage last Friday night and we both agreed that it was among the best meals we have eaten in Ireland this year. Everything from the breads to start to the petit fours ending was extremely good. the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, the wine was excellent. Overall a really good night, even the embarrassing moment when dessert arrived with a lighted candle and (it being my birthday) the singing of happy birthday. We'll be back.

Soder + Ko
64 South Great Georges St, City Centre South, Dublin

I had previously visited this restaurant on a groupon lunch voucher and came away unimpressed but decided, based on my two daughters recommendations to try it for dinner - they both love it and we generally are in agreement. Last night on my way to Once at the Olympia with my wife (incredible show) we went here for dinner. The restaurant was pretty empty and we got a lovely table in the front by the window. When I had been for lunch one of my issues was the speed of service - it hadn't improved. Menus were slow to arrive, drinks even slower, to the point that we cancelled one order of drinks in favour of a glass of wine to speed things up. We had 3 starters, soft shell crab, pot stickers and pulled pork roll. The pork was very good, albeit a little cold (as it turned out were all the dishes). Crab was a non event although we later found a sauce hidden under the steamer that it was presented on which would have made a difference - why weren't we told it was there? We had Duck and Teriyaki beef for main course along with rice, both main courses small and barely warm. Rice was ok but very stodgy (not how stick rice should be). A very pleasant lady, who I assume was the manager, did reduce our bill and didn't charge for the wine or rice. Overall a very disappointing experience from a restaurant that I have heard such good things about.

Yamamori Sushi, Tengu
38-39 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

Had a really lovely experience here on Friday night. the starters including the sushi and tempura prawns were really good. the main courses including the teriyaki duck were excellent - we will be back.

Yamamori Sushi, Tengu
38-39 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

We had our staff Christmas party here, 14 of us in all. I am not a big sushi fan so was worried that I might not enjoy the food. I need not have been concerned, the food, including the sushi was top class. Considering that the restaurant was full to bursting, the service was excellent and my only gripe would be that it was very loud, all night and very cramped. I'll try it again in less busy times and hopefully will have the same views. Well worth a visit.

Kirwans Lane
Kirwans Lane, Galway City, Galway

I dined here with US clients, it was unusual in that they brought their 15 year daughter with them so I was a little apprehensive that the menu might not suit. I needn't have worried, the menu catered easily for all. I had the crab claws followed by the plaice. both extremely tasty, the plaice in particular was perfectly cooked. My only criticism would be that for the cost there could be a few more claws on the plate. the wine was lovely, the service was excellent. all in all a great night and a real showcase for good Irish hospitality.

MacNean House & Restaurant
Main Street, Blacklion, Cavan

I have previously reviewed McNeans but feel it is worth a second commendation. I have eaten in top class restaurants across the world and while some have better food and some have better service and some have better accommodation, none have what this establishment has, all three in abundance. We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary here with all the family, a demanding table of 8. from the time we checked in the experience was exceptional. the rooms are beautifully decorated. The service prior to dinner and during and again at breakfast was top class, you couldn't ask for better. As for the food, everyone at the table agreed that each mouthful was nicer than the one before. a truly wonderful way to celebrate 30 years of marriage. One small disappointment, Neven wasn't there but that didn't change the food or the service. We should be truly grateful to have such a wonderful restaurant here in Ireland.

F.X. BUCKLEY Steakhouse Crow Street
2 Crow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I had a group of Americans and clients (13 in all) for dinner here following the US football game in Croke Park. The restaurant was full but despite that the service was excellent, the food terrific and not overly expensive. Everyone enjoyed the night and I would recommend anyone who enjoys a really good ribeye stake to try the 22oz on the bone, really tasty and succulent. One small gripe, they only serve craft beer which none of our party liked. I don't understand why regular beers aren't on the menu, it would certainly add to the choice for clients.

King Sitric Fish Restaurant
East Pier, North Co. Dublin, Howth, Dublin

I dined here on Saturday night with a US colleague and my wife. all of us wanted fish so it seemed the perfect choice. I hadn't eaten in the restaurant for several years and was presently surprised by the new look and very lively downstairs. Unfortunately we were sat beside a family with a couple of very loud children who dominated the activity at their table while being ignored by the parents. Overall the food was extremely good, The Sole, the Prawns, the Crab, The Monkfish, all very well cooked and tasty. My only issue would be with the sides, two baby boiled potatoes and large chunks of celeriac (I Think). We asked for some mash or other spud variety and were offered chips which never arrived. Only one of us dessert, a vanilla pannacotta which was very good. Staff were attentive and helpful.

Electric
41 South Mall, Cork City, Cork

I had US colleagues and Cork customers here for dinner last Thursday. The bar is a great place to meet, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu choice was very good with something to suit all. we didn't want individual starters so they provided a mixed plate for the table which was great. The main courses were very good, my Lamb Tagine was really tasty and the lamb was succulent and tender. Overall a really good experience. My US colleagues are quickly coming to the realisation that this is the country for fantastic food and great restaurants.

Cleaver East By Oliver Dunne
6-8 East Essex Street, , Temple Bar, Dublin 2 , Temple Bar, Dublin

We had heard that this was a different experience and that was true. I brought a client and her husband along with my wife for dinner and with few exceptions, we found the experience to be underwhelming. we ordered 3 items each from the menu and 2 others just to taste. Service was on the slow side and a very surprising part was that if we wanted a pint of beer then we had to go to the bar ourselves and get it. all that was available in the restaurant was bottles at high prices. no idea why this was a there is a full bar lest than 20 feet from the restaurant. Overall I felt it was overpriced and poor value for money. the following day we went to Taste of Dublin and had better food at much lower prices - plate sizes approx. the same.

Dobbins Restaurant
15 Stephen Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I had early dinner last night at Dobbins with my wife and daughter. Its become one of our favourite city centre restaurants, easy parking very friendly welcome and terrific food. we had the prawns and crab to start - difficult to say which is better. For mains we had the lamb, pork confit and hake. the hake was the easy winner followed by the pork, all were extremely good. for dessert my wife had the crème brulee which she said is the best she has ever had. Great food, friendly service and great company - that's what life is about.

profile_review

Cinnamon Garden Restaurant
Main Street, Ashbourne, Above Molly's Pub, Ashbourne, Meath

we ate here with friends on Friday night and had a really good time. food was very good, service very friendly and overall we enjoyed it. We had menupages vouchers which kept the cost down. I would feel that if you went here for a night out without vouchers that it would be quite expensive.

Geisha Restaurant & Bar (Malahide)
Marina Village, Malahide, Malahide, Dublin

I had heard very mixed reviews of this new restaurant and having eaten there last Sunday, I can see both sides. the location is fantastic. It is probably too big for an Asian restaurant but lovely just the same. We got a window table looking out on the marina. the service was very good but like other reviewers I thought that the sushi portions were ridiculously small for the prices charged. the main courses were very good but all came on their own plates, I.E. difficult to share. I thought the menu was good but very limited and as a regular diner I would think that I would cover this menu after a couple of visits. I will be back but probably not on a regular basis.

profile_review

McGoverns Malahide
The diamond, Main Street , North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I brought a very good American friend of mine here recently. He is a huge fan of fish and chips when he is here as he claims he can't get them in the States. we both had the aforementioned dish and I have to say in my opinion it would be hard to get better anywhere in Dublin. Fresh Cod in a very light batter served piping hot. My only gripe would be that I personally would lie to see real chips (chipshop chips) instead of the ones served. I will definitely be back.

profile_review

La Cascade @ Sheen Falls Lodge
Kenmare, Kenmare, Kerry

La Cascade is a really top class restaurant, set in one of Irelands most beautiful locations, Kenmare. Sitting in the dining room looking out at the falls is a great start to any meal. The service is excellent and very attentive to all your needs. The food is of the highest standards but what makes this a really enjoyable experience is the presence of the piano player. A really nice man that can play any song you may request. It is expensive but definitely worth it if you are in this part of the world.

profile_review

Packies
Henry Street, Kenmare, Kerry

My wife and I just spent a wonderful weekend in Sheen Falls, Kenmare and as part of that weekend we had the pleasure of enjoying dinner in Packies. The food was wonderful, the service excellent. My only criticism would be that you could only eat here on special occasions as it is expensive. We are both inveterate seafood lovers and enjoyed scallops, prawns, sole and the star of the night wild seabass, all cooked perfectly.

profile_review

Dobbins Restaurant
15 Stephen Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I brought a US visitor here to eat last weekend. I hadn't been to Dobbins in many years but I will be adding it to my list of must-do restaurants for the future. The restaurant is bright and airy, good room between tables and lovely napery, cutlery etc. The service was exceptional, really friendly and as my US friend said, reminiscent of the legendary Irish welcome he thought had disappeared. The food matched the service. We ate monkfish, hake and rib-eye and all more than pleased. we will be back and soon.

Siam Thai (Malahide)
1 The Green, North Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I have eaten in Siam Thai many times and last night was extremely poor. Service was very slow. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy so I can't understand why it took so long to deliver our order. The food when it did arrive was overcooked, particularly the duck and worse than that it was barely warm. We had two US visitors with us and they had enjoyed great meals in many restaurants around Ireland in the last number of days. All agreed that Siam Thai was poorest of all meals eaten.

profile_review

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I have eaten many times in Rolys and it has never disappointed. This time we had a menupages deal which incredibly gave us full a la carte options for a 4 course meal for the price of 69euro for two. both my wife and I loved the food although I have to say the saddle of lamb that I had for my main course was a little chewy. Great service, lovely atmosphere. well worth a visit.

SALE e PEPE
The Diamond, Main Street, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I haven't eaten in this restaurant in several years and based on tonight's dinner I have seriously missed out. I went with two US clients and my wife and all 4 agreed that it was exceptional in terms of food, service and value. We will be back very soon and I will be having the smoked haddock starter again. Definitely a big recommendation.

Aurora Asian Cuisine
Unit 5, Block C , Tyrrelstown Town Centre, Dublin 15, Tyrrelstown, Dublin

We had a group of 8 here last night, mostly customers from the UK. We had a very good night, combination platter for 8 was excellent, particularly the prawn toast. All had different main courses so we got to try a lot of dishes, very good. We'll be back and would not hesitate to use again for a night out.

profile_review

Pink Elephant
Mains Court, North Co. Dublin, Swords, Dublin

We eat in the Pink Elephant on a regular basis, both as a couple and as a family. The food is always good and the costs reasonable. Last night we went to celebrate our 9 year olds birthday. there were 7 of us and besides us there was only a couple of other tables occupied. The food was good but there were delays in getting it out. 5 starters were delivered and we then had to wait 5 minutes for the other 2. similarly with the main courses, 6 arrived promptly and 1 was delivered long after.

profile_review

Samphire
The Waterside House Hotel, Near Swords, Donabate, Donabate, Dublin

we had dinner here last night for my daughters birthday. There were 10 of us. the restaurant had been highly recommended and we were looking forward to a high class meal at a reasonable cost. We all agreed that the food was good but not exceptional. 3 of the main courses were cold when they arrived and the pork was particularly fatty. The desserts were terrific and the service was good. We might go back but there are too many restaurants offering similar and better out there.

profile_review

Darwins
80 Aungier Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I brought some French friends here on Saturday night last. The restaurant was super busy but the from of house staff were very friendly and managed to seat us although we were 15 minutes early. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We each had different starters and all enjoyed them except i did get some shell in the fish cakes which is always offputting. Both men had the rib eye on the bone which was very good. One complaint is that you have to pay for all side orders. the steaks come with mash but you are not allowed switch this for chips although my wife was allowed change her potatoes from her seafood mixed grill from boiled to mash - I don't get that. Overall we had a lovely meal. Its obviously a very popular restaurant as it was very loud all the time we were there and the doorway always seemed to be thronged with people.

profile_review

Il Sorriso Restaurant
New Street, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I took some French friends here last Friday night. It was ok, not great, not bad but nothing to get excited about. Service was a little indifferent. the food was tasty. The restaurant doesn't do a lot to entice you back.

Gilbert's Restaurant & Townhouse
11 Pearse Square, Cobh, Cork

I took the whole family to Gilberts one evening while we were on holiday in Cork. We had just done the Cobh Heritage centre tour which is really very good and were ready for dinner. The restaurant is bright and we got a lovely table at the window. The menu was varied and as we had ages ranging from 8 to 16 with us that was very welcome. The food, particularly the chowder was very good and the service very friendly. I would recommend Gilberts to anyone visiting Cobh.

Ballymaloe House
Shanagarry Midleton, Midleton, Cork

We were on holday last week in Cork. As a treat we decided to book lunch in Ballymaloe House. We arrived early and had a stroll around the grounds and the store and then went into the dining room for lunch. The first thing that struck was the poor selection on the menu but we knew that anything we got should be good. i went for the mushroom soup while my wife had the gougons of monkfish. both were excellent although the presentation of the monkfish particularly could do with a revamp. Due to the limited choices we both elected for the sirlion of beef as our main course and this is were the problems started. The meat was overcooked, extremely thin, tough and was served with cabbage, seriously overcooked carrots and a large boiled potato. My wife asked for chips as she doesn't like boiled spuds and these were served on a dinner plate as a side dish. Dessert was a little better and we did have a very pleasant cup of tea afterwards. We did complain about the food as my wife couldn't eat her main course and eventually they decided not to charge for either lunch which was very gracious. I would have preferred to have really enjoyed the food and to have paid for it. overall a very disappointing experience considering the reputation and that we had looked forward to going for quite a while.

profile_review

Kennedys Food Store
5 Fairview Strand, Fairview, Dublin

My wife had heard some good things about this place so we stopped last Saturday night on our way home from town. at 6.30pm we were the only ones in the restaurant so we were a little apprehensive about that but we needn't have been. The choice on the menu and the very friendly staff assured us that we had made a good choice. I had the very unusual Serrano and Gruyere starter while my wife had the soup. We both went for the fillets of lemon sole for mains and we weren't dissapointed with any of our choices. We shared a rhubarb cheesecake for dessert. all in all a very good meal for a very reasonable price. We will definitely be back.

MacNean House & Restaurant
Main Street, Blacklion, Cavan

As a committed foodie I have eaten in great restaurants all over the world, from Asia to the USA and most of Europe. It is therefore a very real pleasure to say that the best meal (as an overall experience) I have had was here last Thursday night in Neven Maguires restaurant in Co Cavan. Myself and my wife booked the overnight accomodation package and the Prestige menu for dinner. The rooms are lovely, bright and airy, the staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the food and the food itself is absolutely wonderful. Its a rare occasion when you can say that you cannot fault a single thing. The following morning we were again stunned by the quality of the breakfast and even more delighted when Neven popped out of the kitchen to say hello. Truly a memorable experience and one which we will enjoy again in the near future.

profile_review

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I brought the family here to celebrate my wifes birthday. Very busy Sunday lunchtime but you couldn't fault the service. The food, with the exception of the prawns (someone had not shelled them properly and therefore there was grit and shell in both the cocktail and the main course) was first class. Very reasonable. We will be back.

profile_review

Cinnamon Garden Restaurant
Main Street, Ashbourne, Above Molly's Pub, Ashbourne, Meath

We went here on the recommendation of a friend of ours who had been recently. He raved about it and knowing that we are very much lovers of Indian food said we had to try it, so we did. We went with much anticipation but unfortunately that wasn't matched by the food we ate. We had the Lamb fry and the duck for starters, the lamb was very tender but the sauce was a little bit too sweet chilli for my liking. The duck was completely overcooked and dry. We had the Butter Chicken and the Lamb Chettinad for mains and while again the lamb was good the Butter Chicken sauce reminded both of us at the same time of a very well known tomato soup. The naan bread was good as was the rice and the service was very friendly but in my opinion the food didn't live up to expectations and when you are charging these prices you need to be spot on in terms of quality. We will be reverting to our old favourites from now on.

Pacifico Restaurant & Grill
Marine Court, The Green, Malahide, Malahide, Dublin

I had dinner with a customer and colleague here last week. The published reviews were good so i was expecting a very good meal. I, personally, was very disappointed. I ordered the beef flautas for starter and the beef fajita for main course. I should have changed my main course option after tasting how tough the beef was in the starter, completely overcooked and chewy. My dining partners enjoyed both their starters, ribs, nachos and their main course, Chick Burrito so it wasn't all bad. Every restaurant deserves a secod go so i'll try again but will avoid the beef.

Fahrenheit Grill @ Crowne Plaza Dundalk
Green Park, Dundalk, Louth

Went here with my wife on our daughters recommendation, 3 course dinner for 2 plus a bottle of house wine for 50.00Euro. Sounded too good to be true but my daughter and boyfriend thought it great value and great food. They were right, food is excellent, although the paté could be a lot firmer, the hake with pasta was very good as was my wife's steak (small supplement). Service was fast and friendly. I would recommend this to anyone.

profile_review

Samphire @ The Waterside
The Waterside House Hotel, Near Swords, Donabate, Donabate, Dublin

My wife was at the beach with the children last week and checked out the menu here so we decided to give it a go last Saturday night with two friends. 24.95 for a 3 course dinner is only good value if the food is up to scratch. Happily the Signal meets the requirements. Good food, with very friendly service for a reasonable cost. Only downsides, firstly the number of ramps on the road to get to the hotel and secondly the room that houses the restaurant is very small. i would eat here again.

Kajjal
7 The Green, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I had lunch here with a colleague and customer. Staff were friendly and efficient and while my colleagues wrap proved a little too spicy for her my thalia lunch was extremely good. if you find yourself in Malahide at lunchtime, give Kajjal a try you will not be disappointed.

Eatzen Ashbourne
U4 Building 3B, Ashbourne Town Centre, Ashbourne, Meath

Had dinner here with my wife, a customer and her partner on a busy Saturday night. The service was excellent and the food just as good. I always enjoy Eatzen, my only quibble would be that the sauce they use on the spare ribs could be more appetising. Its not cheap but then good food comes at a premium. I'll be back soon.

Sandbar
193 Clontarf Road, North Dublin, Clontarf, Dublin

Had diiner here on Friday night, 4 of us in total. Food was excellent, stremely good value and very friendly staff. the fillet steak merits special mention as it was unbelievably tender. Only criticism would be, too many tables. I know a restaurant has to maximise its covers but a few less chairs would be good. We will be back.

My Thai
The Beacon Hotel, Beacon Court, Dublin 18, Sandyford, Dublin

i was lucky enough recently to win a night in the Beacon Hotel and myself and my wife booked in for last Friday night. the hotel is lovely, well laid out and the room we had was excellent. We had heard nothing but good reports about My Thai so we were really looking forward to it. I have to say that it did not live up to expectations. We were hungry and as everything on the menu looked tempting we decided to go for 3 starters (greedy, i know) and two mains. We had the soft shell crab tempura, the mussels and the crispy beef salad. All, i'm sad to say disappointed, the mussels were small and there were a lot of empty shells with no meat in them. the softshell crab was tasty but only two small pieces among a forest of lettuce. the beef was the best but still not matching its menu description. We had a lamb curry and duck for main courses. Again they were acceptable but not exceptional. We very much enjoyed the fact that we could have a couple of drinks without the worry of driving but were disappointed that we hadn't had the wonderful Thai meal we had been expecting.

Conrad's Kitchen
The Model, The Mall, Sligo Town, Sligo

I had lunch here last Thursday with my sister in law, a big fan of mr Gallagher. I tried on a couple of occasions on the Wednesday to make a booking but no response to email or phone message so i called again on thursday and finally managed to get a table for 1 pm. We were the only people in the restaurant, another couple did arrive during our meal. this is a shame in many ways as the food was extremely good, the service was excellent and i'm sure that with more people in the restaurant the atmosphere would have been good as well. the tables are very well laid out with "proper" tablecloths, decent cutlery and glassware. Overall a very pleasant lunch. My sister in law started with the crab cocktail and had scallops for her main both excellent while i had the kataifi prawns and the lamb shank sherpards pie. Again both very good. My only quibble would be with the basil mash topping, a bit too green for my liking. We will return to try the dinner menu.

Tritonville Bar & Terrace
Sandymount Hotel, Herbert Road, Lansdowne Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I have been very remiss in not adding my review of this restaurant until now. Myself and my wife had dinner in the Cordyline restaurant on St Valentines night. We had a wonderful experience enhanced by the staff who were very friendly, attentive and efficicent. the food was excellent, the amuse bouches particularly good and the atmosphere very congenial. We will definitely be back and we have recommended this restaurant to all our friends. Price by the way was very good for what we got. Well done.

Siam Thai (Malahide)
1 The Green, North Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I have eaten here many times in the last few months and have always come away feeling something was missing. The food is good, most of the time and the atmosphere can be great. I was here on News Years Eve and it was a great night but my last visit was very disappointing. We arrived expecing the early bird and waited in the bar to be seated. We didn't get sitting until 18.35 and were then informed that the early bird finished at 18.30. We were then informed that we had to vacate the table by 20.15 as there was another sitting - so we had to pay full whack and hurry up as well. thank God the recession hasn't hit Malahide. Food was delivered very quickly and too be honest this spoiled the night for me. When you are paying this amount for dinner you should be allowed the enjoyment of digesting it at least. Last time i'll be here for quite a while.

Burgundy House, New Street, North Co. Dublin, Swords, Dublin

I was in Indie Spice on Monday night for a charity event and while i have lunch here regularly i have to write to give the restaurant credit for the way they managed to serve extremely good food to a full restaurant in their usual manner. The staff are very attentive and friendly. the food is always consistently excellent and the cost is more than acceptable. I can't recommend Indie Spice highly enough. If you like Indian food then you will really enjoy a night (or a lunch) in this restaurant.

Chandni Restaurant

I went here with my wife and 2 friends after the awful Ireland v SA Rugby match. We were cold and hungry and we were made very welcome. I wouldn't say it is the best Indian food i have eaten in Dublin but it was tasty, not too expensive and the service was very good. I would certainly give it another try.

The Harbour Bar (Rush)
Lower Main Street, Rush, Co. Dublin., Rush, Dublin

My wife and I went to the Harbour Bar on the recommendation of friends and we weren't disappointed. It is a bar and in all honesty not a desperately attractive one but it is set in a lovely location beside the harbour (funnily enough) in Rush with a lovely walk available along the pier and into a small park should you desire. The service was first class with the waiter advising of specials and taking our drinks order as soon as we sat down. the menu is extensive and as you'd imagine is concentrated around local seafood. We couldn't settle on just one starter each so we had three between us, the Crab Claws, The Tempura Prawns and the Potted Crab, all superb and good size portions, served with freshly made bread, delicious. I had the Fish Pie for mains and my wife had the starter portion of the Pasta Carbonara. My only criticism of the Pie would be the amount of mash covering it, less would be better. Total cost for the above plus drinks came to less than 70Euro, terrific value for a really good meal. We'll be back and we've already told a lot of our friends about this little gem.

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I went here yesterday afternoon with my wife and one of my children. It was full but we got a table (time constrained) and sat down. It took a while or our order to be taken but once it was four starters arrived in double quick time. We expected the same for our main courses but had to wait ( and remind a waiter) for 25 minutes. Having said that they reduced our bill and gave us a voucher for a free bottle of wine on our next visit (good tactic). The food was very good and very affordable. We'll be back and hope that its not as busy.

Chapter One Restaurant
18/19 Parnell Square, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

I had lunch here with my family last week. I hadn't eaten here in years but had heard great things about the lunch menu. Unfortunately, with the exception of the very (sometimes too) attentive staff, particularly the chap who refills the water glasses, the food didn't live up to expectations. I had the Venison terrine for starter and the Skate for mains and both were very good. the issues were with some of the other selections. My wife and daughter had the cod starter and felt that it was cold with very little cod. They also had the daube of beef which didn't impress either. the cornfed chicken was another choice that didn't delight. Overall the experience was less than impressive. All of the group felt that the menu was poor and that had we looked at the menu before booking then we would not have chosen this restaurant. Another gripe was that we had a 13 year old with us and there was practically nothing on the menu geared towards that age.

Enoteca Novello

I had lunch here with 3 family members. The restaurant is well set out and the menu looked great. 2 of the 4 had the seafood chowder and 1 had the soup of the day, Broccolli and goats cheese. the chowder was delicious but the other left a lot to be desired. We had a selection of the "tapas" for mains and while they were all very tasty they didn't fill us and we left feeling hungry. An annoying aspect of the meal was that i asked for some bread to go with my main selection of lamb meat balls as it came in a pot with just the meat and sauce. The bread was delivered 10 minutes later when i had eaten the dish. I then discovered when paying the bill that i had been charged 4.95 for 6 slices of bread - this should have been made clear when i asked for it and should at least have been delivered much faster. overall i'd say the food was tasty but i wouldn't go here if i was hungry.

McLoughlins Restaurant @ Roganstown Hotel
Roganstown Golf & Country Club, North Co. Dublin, Swords, Dublin

I had dinner here with 2 business colleagues on a Friday night. I had booked through menupages and received a confirmation of booking but they had no record of this when we arrived. It wasn't a problem however as the dining room was less than half full. The food and service were good but not exceptional. We had a pleasant evening but were really given no reason to rush back.

The Wild Swan Chinese Restaurant
1st Floor No1, Main Street, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I ate here with my family last Friday, there were 6 of us in total including a boisterous 5 year old. The restaurant was packed as it was serving the early bird menu but despite that the service was great and the food very tasty. The waiters offered solutions to the younger ones at the table regarding food selection and made changes to the menu to suit all tastes. very customer friendly. The bill for all of us was less than 100euro and that was with drinks for all. we'll be back.

Seabank Bistro

I had dinner here last weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were joined by two friends and as it turned out another two couples arrived that we knew making it a very good night indeed. The food was ok, i wouldn't rave about it. 31 euro for a fairly small dover sole and 24.50 for beer battered Haddock made it more expensive than it was worth. The sea bream had several bones, one of which caused one of the party some discomfort. I believe that if you serve fish in a restaurant at night in subdued lighting and are charging high prices then the very least you should do is warn the people, when they are ordering, that they will have to be careful. As i said, a very good night, more to do with the company than the food.

The Beetroot Restaurant
41 Port Road, Letterkenny, Donegal

We ate here on Tuesday night and it was a teriffic meal. I had the Chinese Duck roll to start while my wife had the Sea Bass, both very good but the Bass in particular was excellent. For mains, I had the Thai Chicken while my wife had the Risotto, again both excellent but I think I got the better one this time. Chicken was succulent and tender. Both starter and main portions were huge so we had no room for dessert. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff with a very reasonable bill made this an enjoyable night.

Radisson BLU Hotel Letterkenny
Paddy Harte Road, Letterkenny, Donegal

we were celebrating a significant wedding anniversary with a weekend away in Donegal. The hotel itself is very good, great location and very comfortable spacious rooms. We had breakfast in the room each morning and it was of a good standard. As part of the deal we had one evening meal in the Hotel restaurant, the Tribeca. we started with cocktails which was a mistake as it was plain that the barman (who seemed very stressed) didn't know how to make them. We then proceeded to have a lenghty and confusing call with the waitress relating to our "included" meal. If we wanted to eat from the A La Carte then there were extra charges of 5.50 per starter and 10.50 per main course - this wasn't pointed out at time of booking. The food was ok when it arrived but the overall impression was not good. I would definitely stay at the hotel again but i don't think i would have dinner there,

China Tower Restaurant
Port Road, Letterkenny, Donegal

We were on a weekend break in Letterkenny and had dinner here on a Sunday night. We were the only couple in the restaurant for a long period, eventually one other couple arrived. The decor is extremely unusual, very hi tech and modern. Not your usual Chinese surroundings. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the portions are enormous. You could have fed 4 people on the food we were given. The food was tasty and very competitively priced. I would definitely eat here again.

We stopped here for lunch on our way from Sligo to Letterkenny. We had the chowder and the Scampi and while neither would win awards they were both tasty and very good sized portions. Lovely setting and very friendly and helpful staff. I'd recommend it if you are passing that way.

I went here for lunch recently with a business colleague and was very impressed. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive and the bill was reasonable. the restaurant was by no means full but given the food and service I'm sure it won't be long before we have to wait for a table.

Ate here on a Friday night, table booked for 7 but didn't get to it until 7.20. Had then to wait for service. Very busy night, new staff being trained didn't help. Very noisy, difficult to hear friends talking and while food was ok, (3 went for steak on stone) I felt that the whole experience wasn't a great one. Very expensive but obviously doing the business which is good to see in these challenging times. I personally won't be rushing back.

Eatzen Chinese Restaurant

Myself, my wife and my brother had dinner here after the Ireland v England game in Croker. The food and service certainly outclassed the rugby. I have to say it is probably the best Chinese meal i have eaten in Ireland. Very friendly and courteous staff, large portions and all set in an extremely busy vibrant restaurant. I would highly recommend the crispy duck to start and definitely have the chicken in lemon and plum sauce. The only gripe and it is a slight one, we had to wait on a couple of occassions for drinks.

Ouzos Bar and Grill

I had Sunday lunch here with my brother, sister and father. We had booked for 3pm and when we arrived we found a very busy restaurant. Despite the fact that the staff had been working hard since early they were still friendly and attentive. we all elected to have the set Sunday lunch, 4 courses for 23.95 with a great selection for starters and mains. Only 2 desserts listed but that wasn't a problem. Between us we had the chowder x 2, the foie gras and the crab claws. good portions and very tasty. We then had a Sirlion steak and 3 x fish and chips and again the food was top quality. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who fancies good food served with a smile at reasonable prices. I'll be back.

Coast Restaurant @ The Grand Hotel
The Grand Hotel Malahide, Coast Road, Malahide, Malahide, Dublin

I had dinner here last night with a group of colleagues. The service was very freindly and unobtrusive. the choice on the menu was limited (I'm not sure if that was because there was 8 of us) and the food when it arrived was ok. I had a 1970's meal of melon for starter and steak for main followed by cheesecake for dessert. I hadn't eaten here before and on this evidence I wouldn't be rushing back but wouldn't discount the place either.

I enjoy lunch in this restaurant on a regular basis. The staff are very friendly and whether you are for the normal menu or the more traditional dim sum menu you are guaranteed good quality food. My own preference would be the dim sum and the char siu pork in particular.

Ivans Oyster Bar & Grill

Last time i ate here, just looking back at previous reviews was in 08. Not a lot had changed since then. I was with an American visitor who adores seafood. we arrived early evening and were almost the only ones in the restaurant. Service was excellent and the advice over the wines very welcome. We both had the chowder to start and it was very good. I had the haddock for mains while my friend had the hake, again both good. Nothing extraordinary and perhaps a little expensive but good quality and a nice atmosphere.

Bon Appetit
9 James Terrace, Malahide, Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

The Bon was by far and away my favourite place to dine when Patsy was at the helm. I went back this week having read a recent well known critics review of the fine dining part of the restaurant. I wouldn't agree with his view that this was great value for money. We went for the chef's surprise 8 course tasting menu @ 85.00 a head. Unfortunately none of the courses stood out as exceptional, the food was good but not of the standard previously enjoyed there. The meal in the end with a good bottle of wine (expensive @ 56.00 Euro) and tip cost 280.00 Euro for 2 people. For this money I should be raving about the place, the food and the service - I'm not!
