I can't say enough about this place! I have been a regular since it opened but this is my first review. I brought a friend here for her birthday as she hadn't been before. She had the wings to start and I had the beef salad starter, which was delicious. Its very filling for a starter and very tasty. I then had the vegetarian crepes which is my usual when I dont have room for the fillet steak! I think the portion size of the crepes are huge and I can normally only finish one. My friend had the fillet steak and loved it. We had to skip dessert unfortunately but had a tea/coffee to finish. We were seated upstairs as downstairs was hectic as usual, along with 4/5 other tables. The restaurant staff were as friendly and attentive as ever.

I was excited to visit this place as I had heard so many people going on about it! But unfortunately it just didn't do it for me. 3 of us went from work for a late lunch to kick start the festive period. I was hard pushed to find a starter that I liked, and eventually just went for the breads. The other 2 I was with enjoyed their starters. The staff were average unfortunately, and they forgot to put through our order for our mains so we were waiting for an hour between courses, without apology. For mains, 2 of us went for steak and the 3rd had the fish on a stone. I made a poor choice with my steak, should have gone for fillet but picked the marbled steak which I found too fatty and off putting when I was cooking it on the stone. I had to ask for an extra plate for the pieces I was disgarding which didn't really make the meal enjoyable. The sides we ordered were a touch confusing - cold greens, parmesan fries (which were yummy) etc. Desserts were good if a bit forgettable. On the plus side the cocktails were yummy and we stayed at the table after the meal to enjoy a few more!

Ryan's of Ratoath Bar & Restaurant
Main Street, Ratoath, Meath

We went here for dinner last Saturday night after getting a steak recommendation, and I will definitely be back. Its excellent pub grub. The portions are very large. My boyfriend had the wings to start (small but plentiful) and I had the onion rings (too many to finish). We both went for the managable Sirloin steak for main (the fillet is a very large 14 oz!!). Very tasty home style food. Plenty of mushrooms, onions and chips to go with it, and the steak was very succulent. The decor is dated - and the restaurant is really a corner of a pub, but I would recommend this spot for a hearty meal. And price is very reasonable.....

Langkawi
46 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

I went there for lunch yesterday with a friend and I have to say, I won't be back. Like another reviewer I was put off by the bottled water on the table which you are charged €4 for, when they are so reluctant to give you tap water. We ordered other drinks also so we weren't trying to scrimp. I ordered the curry rosti to start which was absolutely delicious. My friend had the satay which was plentiful. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, and my friend ordered a beef noodle dish but instead was recommended to switch to lamb which the owner said was much nicer, which he did. Turns out the lamb a totally different dish - and also €40 which we didn't discover until we got the bill. I enjoy recommendations by the staff but at least recommend something that is price comparable - not more than 2.5 times the price! This totally ruined my experience and I certainly won't be back.

Scotch Bonnet Urban Cafe
4 Church Road, South Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

I visited Scotch Bonnet 2 weeks ago for dinner. I had seen it mentioned on a friends Facebook page and wanted to give it a try. I was pretty disappointed by the whole experience unfortunately. I was underwhelmed by the menu and eventually picked the Goats Cheese to start, my boyfriend had the Chicken Wings and whilst they were plentiful, they were very very very hot! My Goats Cheese salad was nice. I had the half roast chicken for mains which was very tasty. The fries and gravy were particularly nice. We also ordered Onion Rings as a side which unfortunately went to waste as the portions of the mains are huge. They did look delicious though! Overall, the decor seemed like it was trying to hard - and it ended up being confused about its identity. The staff were very nice and friendly, but it was hard to get their attention and they were more interested in talking to their pals who dropped in for a chat. Unfortunately I think it missed the mark for me.
