Having heard so much about this restaurant I went out of my way to have a meal here when I was in Cork. I arrived about 5:20 and immediately liked the look of the building, old brickwork which was exposed. When my starter arrived I asked if the rap music which was playing could be lowered down a little. Not an outlandish request, especially as I was the only customer in the place at the time. The food was nice and tasty and when my main course arrived I again asked if the music could be turned down. Both times I made this request the waitress said no problem but nothing happened. About half way into my main course an extremely foul mouthed song came on and seemed to go on forever. Every second word seemed to be F*#k you, F*#k this, mother F*#kers. Now I'm no stranger to hearing such language on a construction sit but not over the speakers in a restaurant. By this stage I'd had enough of it, so I put on my coat and paid my bill and asked to see the manager. He was very apologetic but really didn't seem to be able to deal with the situation. He never really commented when I told him that it was the first time that I ever left half my meal uneaten perhaps he needs further or some training in dealing with customer complaints. Would I come here again ? NO. Would I recommend it to a friend ? NO.

Al Mezza Lebanese Restaurant
6 Bastion Street, Athlone, Westmeath

We ate here for our anniversary as we wanted to have something special and we were not disappointed. Fantastic flavoursome food. We had the Al Jabel Mezza for two which was a selection of about sixteen different dishes which kept appearing at our table, what a treat for the eyes and taste buds. Herbs and spices, though not hot, and everything bursting with flavour. This is an eating experience not to be missed, if you haven't tried it you're not living.

Kin Khao Thai Restaurant
Abbey Lane, Athlone, Westmeath

Found this restaurant on Menu Pages and visited when we were in Athlone towards the end of January. Well worth the visit, staff very friendly and efficient without being in your face all the time. The food was excellent and hot and had my wife not been with me I'd probably have licked the plate! The Thai custard for dessert was out of this world and completely new to us, fabulous flavour which just left our taste buds screaming for more.

Khan's Spices Indian Restaurant (Trim)
Emmet Yard, Emmet Street, Trim, Meath

I diverted through Trim on my way home from Donegal just so that I could have another meal in this excellent restaurant. I had lamb rogan josh with vegetable rice, the trip would have been worth it just for the rice alone, how they managed to pack such flavours into a bowl of rice and vegetables has to be a miracle of cooking science. Well done to all involved. The only negative thing was the owner refuses to move to Wexford so that I can enjoy this standard of eating every week. If you're within 50Km of trim make the diversion and give your taste buds a treat.
