Dined with a number of friends on holidays from Belgium and we weren’t disappointed. We dined from the Special menu €25.00 for 3 courses. Starters were huge and really good quality the chowder alone was sufficient if you never had a main course. Main course selection was extensive and lots of side orders were served. I had the roast half duck which was to die for and cooked exactly as it should be nice and crispy. Although desserts are small portions they are more than sufficient after a most satisfying previous 2 courses. House wine is served at €15.00 per bottle and most pleasant. The only downside of the night was a drunk asleep outside the main entrance, but when management were informed they quickly attended to this problem. All in all a terrific experience and the numbers in the restaurant confirm that this restaurant will be around for some time to come.

Cafe Noir - Castletroy
Park Point, Castletroy, Castletroy, Limerick

Visited here on Sunday morning for breakfast and found it most disappointing. Service was deplorable the person serving me was having a conversation with another staff member over my head and took money from me with a pair of disposable gloves on. All of the tables appeared to be dirty even though there was no one sitting at them. I was given my coffee and proceed to a table even though it wasn’t clearly explained if I was to wait at the counter or what I should do. The food was very disappointing for €7.95 the breakfast consisted of two slices of bacon one sausage a tomato and to small slices of French stick that were suppose to be French toast but were just cremated and had obviously only got a look at the egg!! The coffee was the only decent thing that I was served from what I could see the place is a total disaster and very bad value for money.

Gallagher's Seafood Restaurant
JP Clarkes Country Pub, Bunratty, Clare

Went here for thewine and dine menu on a Sunday. Food was delicious nice fish goujon starter and Sirloin steak for main course, along with 2 glasses of drinkable wine. Steak was cooked to perfection and I got just the right amount of vegetables and potatoes with it. Staff were pleasant but maybe at bit rushed as it was possibly the end of there shift or at least nearly the end of lunch. Will definitely go back.

E J King's Restaurant & Bar
The Square, Clifden, Galway

Dined here for lunch great buzz had a nice panini with a lovely dressed fresh salad. Staff were very friendly and eventhough it was extremely diners werent been rushed. There is a good lunch menu with good wholesome fresh food. They do a good thing by asking only those who are eating to occupy the tables so the coffee only drinkers can sit up to the counter. This is good value for money with a pleasnat atmosphere and efficient staff.

Off The Square Restaurant
Main Street, Clifden, Galway

Stumbled on this restaurant on a brief visit to Clifden. The menu has agreat choice of seafood dishes.I chose some oysters for starters and tuna for main course, both good and fresh. The tuna was a little over cooked but it tasted good neverthe less. Staff were extremely friendly appeared to be a family situation but it worked really well. If I was to have any complaint it was the lack of half bottles of wine on the wine list because you can be very limited with wine by the glass and chardonnay isnt my choice in wine. overall it was value for money with a good friendly relaxed atmosphere. I will be back in the Autumn!!

The Locke
3 Georges Quay, Limerick, Limerick City, Limerick

On the recommendation of a friend I recently dined with a number of people at this restaurant and left never wishing to return. The atmosphere was good on arrival and there was a real buzz about the place however this was the start and finish of the pleasant experience. Staff were anything but efficient, on three occasions we had to ask for water. It took forever to get an order taken and they even got that wrong but we so wanted to get out of there we didn’t correct the mistake. We opted for the early bird menu which had limited choice unless you wanted to pay supplements which really defeated the purpose. The fish stew seemed to contain mainly frozen seafood. When we have all of these great fresh fish suppliers in Limerick, why do we resort to frozen? Service was very slow and a couldn’t care less attitude was very obvious. Wines were reasonably priced and nicely chilled. Dinner went on for ever and was less than value for money. There are a lot better quality and value restaurants in Limerick than here. Think they are still living in the Celtic Tiger era.

Thatched Cottage Inn
Strandsend Cahirciveen, Carrigahorig, Tipperary

Visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch with a friend. Was very busy with a nice atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings and décor ideal for a relaxed lunch Menu choice offered meats, fish and vegetarian. Presentation was appealing, food had a real home cooked taste and there was plenty of it. Staffs were very efficient and friendly. I will be back again some day on my own because I feel it is the type of place to spend hours over lunch without being disturbed.

Larkins Pub and Restaurant (Nenagh)
Garrykennedy, Nenagh, Tipperary

Visited this restaurant St Patrick’s Day for lunch with a friend. Was quite busy with an ok atmosphere. The bar was very cold but we were sat next to a vent which was on and contributed even further to the cold air temperature. Menu choice was good and reasonable. Food was nice and tasty with sizeable portions. Staff could have been more attentive as we had to ask for everything once the food was served they didn’t come near us anymore until we were finished. Could do with refreshing customer care skills.

Cherry Tree Restaurant
Lakeside, Ballina, Killaloe, Clare

A group of us dined here before Christmas and it was an absolute treat. We dined from the Christmas menu and found it to be real value for money with 5 courses. The food was full of flavour, freshness and wholesome. You could almost get the smell of the sea from the fish and the meats were full of flavour I think possibly organic. Staff were extremely efficient and pleasant there was in actual fact a real air of professionalism. The ambiance, food service, and setting gave us a most memorable evening. I will certainly be back as will many of my friends, well done Cherry Tree take a bow.

Fiacri House
Boulerea, Knock, Roscrea, Tipperary

Was here with a group of friends my first visit but a most memorable one. On arrival we were greeted by a nice young man and seated in the lounge where we ordered drinks. The choice from the menu was so vast it was hard for me to make up my mind. All of the breads were homemeade and the dishes were all so freshly cooked.Desserts were massive service was very attentive and enjoyable. I will certainly be back but I will need to starve for a month beforehand.

Goosers Bar and Eating House
Ballina, Killaloe, Clare

I have dined here many times over last number of years but my last visit was really disappointing. As the place was very quiet it totally lacked atmosphere and as it was quiet for some strange reason service was extremely slow. The person serving repeatedly called us 'guys'. Believe you me we are far removed from 'guys'. Then to add insult to injury the same person picked chips from a customers plate (possibly a friend i think) totally disgusting. Won't be back in a hurry 'guys'!!!!

Caffe Latte
Convent Hill Shopping Centre, Killaloe, Clare

Recently I had coffee and a scone here the scone was served promptly but the coffee arrived 35 minutes later, having requested it from the waitress on numerous occasions. At a table next to me, two ladies had ordered breakfast and were already waiting 40 minutes. The waitress appeared to be stressed and seemed to be both cooking and serving. Concerning the scone it was rock hard and stale the breakfast presentation at the table next to me looked like it was thrown around the kitchen before it was served. Won’t be back ever.

JP Clarke's Gastro Pub
Beside Gallaghers, Bunratty, Clare

I dined here alone and was more than impressed. The atmosphere was abuzz with many patrons coming and going. As I wished to sip a glass of wine and read my paper for a while before dining the waiter covered the menu on my table with the supplement of my paper so that staff wouldn’t annoy me for an order until I was ready. How good is that? From the menu I had a pork dish in pitta bread with fantastic chunky chips. Absolutely excellent! As bar food goes the presentation and service is equal to any top class restaurant around. Along with the al a carte menu there is also a summer sizzler available €18.00 for 2 courses or €22.00 for 3 courses. If you want casual dining in a comfortable surrounding and don’t want to break the bank this is the place. I will definitely be back.
