Bombay Palace Indian Restaurant
14/15 Cook Street, Cork City, Cork
Reviewed 08th April 2009 ( visited 15th March 2009 )I am originally from Cork & I am a huge Indian Food Fan so we visit this restaurant EVERY time we are in Cork. It is honestly the best Indian restaurant in the city. The staff are so nice, the surroundings are perfect for an intimate meal & the food is excellent. Really good sized portions, excellent quality & fantastic value for money. A genuine 5 star restaurant in my opinion.
2-5 Winthrop Lane, Winthrop Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork
Reviewed 08th July 2008 ( visited 20th June 2008 )This is a really good place for steaks, burgers salads etc.Very reasonably priced & good sized portions. The staff are very efficient. The only downside is the queues & that you feel they are rushing you out the door. Not a place where you can comfortably linger with a glass of wine after your meal. But when they are so busy that is understandable.
The Moorings Restaurant
Davitt's Quay, Dungarvan, Dungarvan, Waterford
Fantastic beer garden at the side of the bar, where I had lunch with my sister the other day. We both just had sandwiches with our drinks but they were absolutely delicious! Have never had such a well filled, tasty sandwich in a pub which was just opening up for the day. The staff were friendly and welcoming and were very accommodating to us and our dog, with whom we were allowed to sit in the beer garden without any fuss or problem. Great place to go for food or just for drinks and definitely worth recommending to others.
69 North Main Street, Cork City, Cork
A simple but cosy café in the heart of 'old' Cork city, with a fun theme and absolutely delicious food! Had breakfast there with 3 of my family members and we all loved it. The bistro, while simple, is clean and well laid out and they maximize on use of the space without compromising on the friendly service or the lovely food. Definitely a good place to go for students and families alike! Will be sure to re-visit the next time I'm in Cork again.
Tribes Coffee Shop
8 Tuckey Street, Cork City, Cork
Lovely cosy café with comfy seating and a chilled out atmosphere. Food, while delicious, is quite overpriced for what you get, so isn't that great with regard to value for money. I'd rather pay for slightly smaller portions (which you can actually finish) for less, rather than the massive portions you get which end up unfinished and wasted. Service at the counter only, which would be okay if it weren't so expensive. Biggest shame for me is the toilets are upstairs, so it's not great for those of us who are 'less mobile', but otherwise a lovely place to sit and chat with friends in a relaxed and friendly surrounding.
Clayton Hotel Silver Springs, Tivoli, Cork City, Cork
Lovely restaurant, very comfy seating and lots of space so the tables are not all up on top of each other. Seemed very understaffed though, and it remained like that throughout the entire weekend of my stay at this hotel. The food, while delicious, and drinks, took ages to be served up and their treatment of 'residents' left a lot to be desired. Our table of 10 were all served at different times, so while some were finishing their main courses, others hadn't even been served yet. Such a shame for an otherwise good location.
Scotts Bar & Restaurant
116 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork City, Cork
Great food with massive portions, fantastic service from friendly and helpful staff, comfy surroundings and amazing value for money. Overall a great place to eat right in the heart of Cork City where the staff can't do enough for you (and where the smokers amongst us are treated to a warm and comfortable smokers room, without feeling like lepers in the process.) Definitely a place to recommend to everyone wishing to dine out in the city, be it for lunch, dinner or just a quick snack.
The Ross Inn
Rossbeigh Beach, Glenbeigh, Kerry
While touring in West Kerry with a three friends for a day, we ended up in Rossbeigh and starving as we were, went into the Ross Inn in the hope of a good hot meal and a respite from the shocking weather outside. However on entering the bar, we were confronted with a cold, dark, empty and soul-less pub, and while the barman/owner tried to make us welcome, it was sadly not enough to satisfy our hunger or worries about what we were about to receive. We each ordered a full lunch, as by that time we were absolutely ravenous, so two of us had soup and sandwiches and the other two ordered fish & chips and chicken & chips. The food took a long time to arrive at our table and when it finally did, the 'soup' consisted of warm water with practically raw veg in it, and the chips were sooo greasy, as soon as you held one between your fingers, the grease poured out of them. When we politely tried to point this out to the barman, he told us that it was perfectly good food and if we didn't like it then he would call the 'chef' out of the kitchen so we could have it out with him. (Is this really a good way to treat unhappy customers?) Then, to add insult to injury, they had the audacity to charge us nearly € 40 for the 'pleasure' of getting stomach-ache! Definitely not a place I'd recommend to anyone and don't ever intend to re-visit it while under the current management.
14 Parnell Place, Cork City, Cork
We had lunch here as a large group. The service was very friendly, helpful & courteous. Beautiful surroundings, nice atmosphere. The toilets were nicely decorated & spotlessly clean. The food was fine, but there were no vegetables with some of the dishes & this was not made clear on the menu. Very good value for what you got. We would most certainly go back.
The Barn Restaurant
Glanmire Cork, Glanmire, Cork
I was here on a Saturday night with a group of ten for a birthday celebration. It is nicely decorated, warm, great smoking area but there the compliments end. The atmosphere is stuffy & you sort of feel you should speak in hushed tones. I was very disappointed with the service & the food. As I said, it was a celebration dinner but it was very difficult to order drinks & when you did find someone to order from, they took a long time bringing them. The starter portions were very small, the vegetable soup was virtually tasteless, apart from the sweet tang of celery. I didn't like the way the bread was doled out by the waitress so you only had one piece. A basket of bread should be left on the table so people can choose as they wish. All of the steaks ordered were totally overdone. The only consolation being that the vegetables were nicely cooked & tasty but none of us are vegetarians. We like meat & like it served as requested. I've had better steaks as pub-grub. Any expensive restaurant with a reputation for good food should not be handing out dishes of this low standard. I would not go back.
Zaks Restaurant (Cork)
No 4 Marlboro Street, Cork City, Cork
I go here almost every time I am in Cork & would highly reccomend a visit. Usually I go here for breakfast, but sometimes for lunch too. Everything, in my experience, is always perfectly cooked & excellent quality. I have occasionally observed others who have a small complaint & I have noticed that their concerns are always dealt with in a discreet, apologetic & generous manner. Lovely staff, very friendly & helpful. Very generous portions & great value for money.
French Church Street, Cork City, Cork
Went on Friday around 1.45pm so lunch rush was finishing. Nice restaurant & good waitress but the food was really bad. Had chicken goujons which were only luke warm, had a soggy coating & really dry stringy chicken inside. Probably the worst goujons I've ever tasted. The chips which accompanied them were also fairly cold. Would not go back.
Farmgate Restaurant and Country Store
Coolbawn, Midleton, Cork
First visit to this restaurant. We went in the evening. Beautiful place, lovely atmosphere, staff so welcoming & helpful. The food was fantastic. Best meal out we have had in a very long time. Will definitely go back.
Montrose Hotel, Stillorgan, Stillorgan, Dublin
We stayed here for the weekend. The food was beautiful. Desserts wonderful. The staff were fantastic, so friendly. The menu was reasonably priced. The best bit was the guy playing the piano while we ate. Such a lovely atmosphere.
34-35 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin
Excellent food, excellent service. Very reasonable & great value. Keema Naan breads absolutely beautiful. Would also reccomend Lamb Jalfrezi, delicious!!
The Lismore Restaurant
Lismore House Hotel, Main Street, Lismore, Lismore, Waterford
I have to agree with the other reviewers that the surroundings here are beautiful since the hotel was renovated but that is the only part I can agree with. We had a bar lunch here. It was very quiet when we arrived so the bad service cannot be excused by the staff being busy. We were fifteen minutes waiting to order. There were numerous staff walking about & we kept trying to get their attention but we were ignored totally. There was quite a wait for the food once we had ordered and even then my husbands food came almost ten minutes before mine. He had ordered bacon & cabbage, basic enough you would think but the bacon was so salty that it was inedible & the entire meal was cold. I had ordered the homemade burger, again, very basic stuff. The burger was ok. It was a plain meat patty on dry bun, no sauces or salad & none were offered. The chips were totally cold. The menu had said it would be accompained by fried onions which didn't come until I had finished my meal & they were cold & greasy. No apologies were offered. Very poor overall for a lunch which cost almost €30. Won't be back.
Quasi Lanka Eastern Restaurant - Closed
F26 Dungarvan Shopping Centre, Dungarvan, Waterford
We had a very different experience to the previous reviewers. We went on a Sunday & the restaurant was quiet. The waitress was so helpful & friendly, explaining all the dishes on the menu as we hadn't eaten Sri Lankan food before. We like really spicy food & Her recomendations were perfect for us. The food was beautiful & plentiful. It was really good value for money & we will definitely be back there when we are in the area again.
Bridge Street, Clogheen, Tipperary
I have been to this fantastic restaurant many times. The surroundings are wonderful, the staff & owners so welcoming & helpful. The food is always excellent whether you have early bird, a la carte or Sunday lunch. The menu varies quite a bit which is great for trying out new things. We have never been disappointed with any meal we have eaten here. There is a cosy bar for pre or post dinner drinks & always a friendly atmosphere.

29 Thomas St Clonmel, Clonmel, Tipperary
We had our first meal at this restaurant on New Years Eve. It was fantastic!! And so we have been back a few times since then. Each time was as good as the first. The food has been perfect, good size portions too. The menu is more varied than the average Chinese restaurant, great for fish lovers too. The staff are always friendly & so helpful. Would say it's the best chinese restaurant in Clonmel.
Galileo Cafe Clonmel
4 Gladstone Street, Clonmel, Tipperary
I have eaten here quite a few times. The food is quite good, tasty, good size portions & very reasonably priced. Would reccomend the pizzas or the Penne Arrabiata. It is always very cold in this restaurant & have had to leave my jacket on while eating most times. The chefs are friendly but the waitresses are awful!! Surly & unhelpful!! The toilets are not very clean either.
Devanes Bar & Restaurant
Irishtown, Clonmel, Tipperary
This is a very nice pub.Nicely decorated & very clean.Fantastic beer garden, really well designed & maintained & overlooking the river. It also has covered areas which is fantastic for us smokers. The staff seem to be mostly non Irish & are extremely friendly, efficient & nothing is too much trouble. The owner is also very pleasant & helpful. The food is really high quality for a pub.The mixed grill is HUGE & very tasty & only €14.Excellent value. We have also had roast lamb dinner, cajun chicken & sandwiches here, all were delicious & good size portions.Top class pub!!
Irishtown, Clonmel, Tipperary
Seriously the best Kebabs!! They serve them on homemade Naan Bread.Loads of meat,Loads of salad & loads of chips!! Very good value!! The donor kebabs are delicious, also the chicken kebab. The owner is really friendly & helpful. They don't have tea or coffee on the menu but he will always make you a cup if you want it.A 5 minute walk from the main street but well worth it for lunch or after a few beers in the evening.
Saffron Fine Indian Cuisine
6 A Hazelwood Shopping Centre, Glanmire, Cork
Lovely restaurant.Very dark & cosy.Excellent food.Would reccomend the Lamb Balti!! The staff are very efficient & helpful.Very reasonably priced & quite good portion sizes.
Planet Spice Indian Restaurant &Takeaway;
8 Mary St Clonmel, Clonmel, Tipperary
The best Indian restaurant in Munster!! We go here alot. The food is excellent & average price. We always find the staff very helpful. I wouldn't recommend the Sunday buffet lunch. It is cheap but not much choice & very bland dishes. The a la carte menu is fantastic & we have never been unhappy with any dish we tried. The portions are a good size but the best bit is they use no additives so you never have that bloated feeling no matter how much you eat.
Luigi Malones (Cork)
1-2 Emmet Place, Cork City, Cork
Over a year ago I posted a bad review for this restaurant. Went back on Fri 18th Dec. I booked through Menupages & used the €25 menupages voucher. What a difference. Excellent service. We were welcomed warmly & seated immediately even though we were 20 mins early. Orders were taken & delivered promptly. Food was beautiful & served exactly as ordered. Lovely buzzy atmosphere. They got us out in time for Opera House. Will be back.

The Trinity Rooms Restaurant @ Barnabrow House
Cloyne, Midleton, Midleton, Cork
This is the most wonderful place!! Beautiful setting. Romantic decor & atmosphere.Excellent food.Efficient friendly staff.Best bit is there is not a sign of a tv or radio in the whole place so it is a real getaway from it all type of place.Wonderful breakfasts & dinners.Such unusual bedrooms.Attended a wedding here & Stayed for the weekend & we really loved it.Would Highly reccomend this venue to anybody.
14 North Main Street, Cork City, Cork

29 Princes Street, Cork City, Cork
I eat here as often as possible.Lovely, cosy, romantic atmosphere.Very friendly & efficient staff.Excellent pizzas with thin crisp bases & delicious pasta dishes.Don't really like the ministrone soup as it's a bit too thin & oily for my taste.Very reasonable prices.Would highly reccomend this restaurant
