This French restaurant has gorgeous food, go for the specials. The Suckling pig was amazing according to my partner. The Toulouse sausage was great but a huge portion if you have had a starter. The service can vary but they have some excellent Irish waiters who really know there stuff when it comes to recommending good wines, which complement the food. If you like dessert wine or just want to try one the Saussignac is heavenly and was recommended by the waiter. Desserts were also fab, this place is so delicious you know it can't be good for the waistline but it is definitely a treat for the taste buds!

Fab food, great wines and a great sommelier, a little pricey if you don't go for the early bird.

The Winding Stair Restaurant
40 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1 , City Centre North, Dublin

Great service, very good food but portions are way too big, had to doggy bag half my main and was too full for desert. Great selection of wines, especially desert wines.

The Terrace Restaurant @ NCH
National Concert Hall, Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

A lovely friendly man showed us to our table and served us our afternoon tea, he was great. After he finished up we were left to our own devices and weren't offered refills of tea or approached at all until I went to the counter and asked for the bill.

Brasserie Sixty6
66/67 Great South Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

I booked midweek, through menupages via email. On arrival we were told we were entitled to get a free cocktail each - they also did virgin ones for the pregnant guests! Then the early bird also included a glass of wine and the food and portion size were ideal. My friends were delighted by the price and we definitely felt welcome and got excellent value for money! I will definitely return again soon. Make sure you book online to avail of any offers - we basically got 10 Euro each free drinks by booking through this site so definitely worth it!

Chez Max (Palace Street)
1 Palace Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This is a lovely French restaurant with French waiters and waitresses. The food is excellent but the service can be very rushed if you go for an early bird meal. Often removing plates while others are still eating which might be done in France but comes across rude in Dublin. The atmosphere is very French; lovely pictures of the Eifel Tower and Champs Elysee etc. But the tables are too close together and often it's hard to hear each other - good for eves dropping if you're into that! The food is rich and delicious so I will definitely go back.

Hole In The Wall Phoenix Park
Blackhorse Avenue, Navan Road, Dublin

I love this place. It's apparently the longest bar in Ireland and is really old. I love the log fires and the cozy atmosphere especially at Christmas - every inch is covered with Christmas decorations! The food is very good quality and the price is very good for what you get. They have an excellent off licence where you can try new and different wines. You can have a good look at the various wines they have on offer and have it with your dinner paying a minimal corkage charge. The staff and owners are always available to offer recommendations and a good bottle of wine for a good price. It's one of the few places where the staff are always the same which is always a good sign.
