Fantastic food and great value. We had beef Pad Prik and another wok duck dish which both came with steamed rice and were seriously delicious! The side of noodles is full of flavour with stir-fried veg, and at €2.50 is great value. We also tried the cashew nuts in chilli which were nice. Very quick over the counter service in the casual eating area. We ended up taking some home with us. All for under €30. I'll certainly be back.

Middle of the road Italian which, in my opinion, offers very average, uninspiring food. The service and atmosphere are always good, but the standard of food seems to have declined with more locations opening. In Dundrum, two of a group of 10 had to send back dishes. The rest were again average.

Hang Dai
20 Camden Street, Camden Street, Dublin

Heard great things about this funky new Chinese restaurant and booked well in advance. The atmosphere and decor is fantastic. Foodwise the prawn toasts are the standout; tasty and moreish. Green beans and aubergine dishes were also excellent. Our table also went for the duck special which you pre-order and comes 3 ways. Only negative is that the nature of the food is all rich and oily, but for an authentic Asian treat it's well worth a visit.

Eden Bar and Grill
7 South William Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Great value lunch menu. The salmon steak and Parmesan thick homemade chips were both worth returning for. Lovely venue, great service.

Delahunt
39 Camden Street Lower, Camden Street, Dublin

Excellent lunch experience. Really top notch combinations, full of flavour and presented immaculately. Great value for the standard of food you're getting.

Farm Restaurant (Dawson Street)
3 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

Disappointing food. The beef really lacked flavour and the starter was similarly bland. I'm afraid this is the second disappointing meal here so I won't be back again.

Umi Falafel - Dame St
13 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Decent middle eastern food unfortunately marred by terrible service. A simple portion of falafel took over 45 minutes. It's targeting a fast food audience in a similar setting, so such a long wait just isn't acceptable. The salads are fresh and falafel tasty, but I won't be back.

Pasta Fresca
2-4 Chatham Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Popped in for a quick lunch. Excellent fresh pasta in a very tasty cream and mushroom sauce. I hadn't been here in a while due to a previous mediocre meal but this trip was delicious so I'll be happy to try it again after this dish.

San Lorenzos
South Great Georges Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Top notch first outing to San Lorenzos. The memorable dishes were the gambas and the pork ragu with fettuccine- both seriously delicious. Service was excellent and the early bird and fixed price menu means it's great value. I'll be back... very soon!

Juniors
2 Bath Avenue, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

The best steak in Dublin, hands down. Everything was so tasty, the pea and ham soup had just the right smoky flavour. No pretentiousness, just good tasty food.

Camden Kitchen
3A Camden Market, Grantham Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin

Overall a great experience. The prawns to start were delicious. All of our mains were very good, certainly some of the best I've had in Dublin. The desserts almost stole the show- fantastic. Smaller place than I expected, but we could see right into the kitchen which I like. My only negative would be the prices are on the high side, but for food of this standard, it's worth it.

La Dolce Vita - The Chase
Carmanhall Road, Dublin 18, Sandyford, Dublin

My first visit it since it moved across the road. The decor is great and we were all very pleasantly surprised by the fantastic food. Every dish was a s good as the next. And it's great value too. I'll certainly be returning for a hearty pasta dish again.

Sika Restaurant
Powerscourt Hotel Restaurant & Spa, Powerscourt, Wicklow

This is fine dining as it should be. Great flavours, great food, great wine and great service. Obviously the price tag reflects this so save it for special occasions.

Patrick Guilbaud
21 Upper Merrion Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

I had lunch here on a Saturday. The 2 course for €38 and 3 course for €50 is great value given the full price of the same dishes on the dinner menu. Service was excellent, as you'd expect. The food was top-notch, if on the very sparse side. If you're a fan of fine dining, lunch here is great value.

DIG IN
19 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin

Great spot for great value. The sandwiches come with great sting fries and homemade ketchup that is to die for. The food is always good and the atmosphere is always great (the upstairs balcony is particularly nice). With nothing on the menu over €10, this place delivers amazing value and will hopefully encourage others to follow their example.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK South Anne Street)
5 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Each one of us that went loved our choices- the aubergine and goats cheese and falafel were really great. Although the selection is limited for the €5 lunch offer, it is well worth the visit even without that. Service was good too. On the heavy side for a weekday lunch, but perfect for weekends.

Avoca Cafe (Suffolk Street)
Avoca, 11 Suffolk Street, City Centre South, Dublin

The buffet style salad bars have a great choice of delicious salads to choose from downstairs. An early lunch here on a Friday had enough room to comfortably enjoy it, as upstairs can often be crowded and requires a wait for a table. Quick, tasty and great value!

Shanahan’s on the Green
119 St. Stephens Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

Having looked forward to this visit I was disappointed when I went for a special occasion. Overpriced and underwhelming is my lasting impression. While the steaks themsleves were very good, they aren't worth nearly 50 euro each. We ordered a few sides and unknowingly were presented with large portions of each, for which we were charged double. The bread, which I've read many great reviews of, was very good but not good enough for me to return to pay such exorbitant prices. At 100 euro a head for a main course, some sides and wine its up there with tasting menus but the menu doesn't deliver. I certainly won't be returning.

The Port House
64a South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Outstanding! The atmosphere in here is incredible, and the food is really great too. We had lots of dishes and every single one was very good. I'll definitely be returning here and advising others to do so too.

The Arch Bistro
Above the Glenside Pub, Landscape Road, South Dublin, Churchtown, Dublin

I too visited the Arch for mother's day. This gastropub was packed for the occasion and so service was under pressure. The food however lived up to expectations. The liver and onion soup starters were fantastic. Two mains impressed (the surf and turf and the lamb) but the risotto was a letdown in an otherwise great meal. They had sold out of our two choices of desserts; while this shows bad management its hard to judge on such an occasion. I'll certainly be back to try them on a quieter day.

Pacinos
18 Suffolk Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went here for dinner after Christmas and wasn't blown away. The pizza was only alright and the pasta the same. There was a good crowd in there, but they'll need to do better if they're to compete with the Italian food available elsewhere. Wouldn't return in a hurry.

profile_review

Cornucopia
19/20 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Lived up to its reputation of the best Vegetarian restaurant in Dublin. The new extension makes a nice addition to the always busy cafe. We had the aubergine and feta quiche and the pasta special. The mains were outdone by the accompanying salads, which were excellent. The spaghetti, rocket and sun-dried tomato salad was really brilliant. Meateaters and vegetarians alike would be pleased, and I'll certainly be back for the great portions of great food at great prices.

Surma
43 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin

Surma has gone downhill a long way since my last visit a few years ago. Firstly they told my large group there was no beer left while they continued to serve it to others! Eventually after we refused to order wine they said they had "found" some beer. The food was very poor, with the chicken tikka masala standing out as just awful. Limp, brown lettuce accomanied average starters (although the jumbo prawns were good). Rice is extra which made for a pricey overall bill. Very poor service topped off the evening. Never again.

The Dining Room
35 Dawson Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Best 3 courses I've had in a long time. A large group of us celebrated here all eating from the 25 euro menu. Starters were amazing (wood pigeon stood out). Mains were equally impressive with the Duck, Pork and Chicken all impressing. Creme brulee was fantastic too. Highly recommended.

L'Gueuleton
No 1 Fade Street, Off Georges's Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Stood up to all the good reviews. Pork was to die for, toulouse sausages also good. The french onion soup took the top spot, perfection in a bowl. A tad on the dark side, but I think it only adds to the atmosphere. Very rich, tasty, french fare.

Bodega! (Waterford)
54 John Street, Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford

Great food, great atmosphere and good value. I'd certainly return again on another visit to Waterford City.

Mio Restaurant
1-3 Connolly Street, Clonakilty, Cork

Great little spot upstairs in Clonakilty. Over many visits, it consistently turns out great pasta and pizza dishes. Definitely outshining its competition at the moment. Well worth a visit.

Eatzen Ashbourne
U4 Building 3B, Ashbourne Town Centre, Ashbourne, Meath

The great reviews I've heard about Eatzen were confirmed on my visit there for an occasion on a Sunday. The set menu for €45 delivered 5 courses of exceptional food. It really was superb. The fillet of beef was as tender as I've ever tasted, the sauces were authentic and tasty, and the desserts were also excellent. Beautifully decorated and service was also fantastic. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. Highly recommended.

Benito's
46-47 Castle Street, South Co. Dublin , Dalkey, Dublin

Average Italian fare. The €15 for two courses is decent value. The food is not spectacular, but the service and atmosphere compensate. The bruchetta was nice, as was the polpette starter, if a little on the small side. The pizza was average and could do with more toppings. The carbonara was good. All in all a good value enjoyable meal in a very nice setting.

Brasserie Sixty6
66/67 Great South Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Wow, serious value to be had here with the 2 for 1 main meal offer. The food is consistently good. I can recommend the lamb chunks starter, the pork main and the monkfish. The chips are great too. My only complaint was that our order was forgotten so the wait was too long. With 4 mains, 1 starter, 2 sides and 2 bottles of wine the bill came to a fantastic €101. Get this offer while you can!

profile_review

Boulevard Cafe
27 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Lacklustre lunch here on my last visit. It was empty which doesn't help the atmosphere. The food was only average, with my soup being served slightly cold. I won't be returning again anytime soon.

profile_review

Bahay Kubo
14 Bath Avenue, Sandymount, Sandymount, Dublin

The band are the real draw here. While the food is good, its pricey for what you're getting. Still, the band really do create a fantastic experience. Great place for a group night out.

profile_review

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Impressive, good value lunch. Roly's delivered on every level with its €23, 3 course lunch special. A large group ate together and each one of us were impressed by almost every dish. Great value for good food. I'm eager to try the early bird after such a good lunch.

Thunder Road Cafe
Fleet Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin

A third visit in the last few months showed Thunder Road back at its best. I don't know if its weekends vs weekday chefs, but this particular Sunday was so much better than my previous visit on a Thursday. The burgers were great, salmon delicious, fries crisp and nachos tasty. With beer at €3.95 a pint or bottle, it topped off a perfect american style meal. I hope they can consistently deliver this quality. I'll be back to test that out!

profile_review

Town Bar and Grill
21 Kildare Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Visited here for lunch on a Monday. After hearing such good reviews I was somewhat disappointed. The food was nice, but not good enough to entice me to return again. The fish pie came out on top and had plenty of filling while the stuffed chicken was average. The service is very good, but without a standard of food to match it was a disappointment.

Milano (Baggot Street)
1 - 2 Haddington Road, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

Following a disappointing visit to the Dundrum branch, I visited the Baggot St branch to take advantage of a 2 for 1 deal they had on. Much better! The service and food were both miles ahead of my last visit. The Padana and Il Padrino pizzas were both delicious. My only gripe was €8.25 for a decent sized glass of wine, totally overpriced. Despite that, with the 2 for 1 offer it was great value.

Chandni Restaurant
174 Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Having been for dinner before, a lunchdate with friends was another opportunity to see if the food delivered. It did, again. All four dishes we shared were really tasty with very generous portions. Even with extra Naan breads, the lunch menu is great value. Delicious!

profile_review

Lemon (Dawson St)
60 Dawson St, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

The crepes are unbeatable here. The vegetarian powercrepe is to die for. Less heavy than a bread based lunch, and certainly more tasty. Great place for a casual lunch.

La Peniche @ RIASC
Barge Riasc, Mespil Road Jetty, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We had our Christmas party at La Peniche and it was a great success. The food was fantastic, and the set menu still had good variety. The atmosphere is great in such a small space and the service was also very good. Its a little on the expensive side, but worth it in my opinion. I'd recommend it for the cruise alone, and with the food it makes for a great experience. Thanks to all at La Peniche.

Siam Thai (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

Excellent! Six of us went for dinner here recently and every dish was really great. The jumbo prawns were so juicy and were great in the yellow curry. Super views over Dundrum fountain and the decor inside is lovely too. Good value for great food.

Tavern
Dylan Hotel, Eastmoreland Place, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Overpriced and disappointing. Very small portions, which would be fine if the food was of a high standard, but it lacked any real flavour. Service also disappointed with a waitress spilling sauce on our clothes. The experience lacked any positive note. Certainly not worth the money. Go elsewhere for a special occasion.
