The Winding Stair Restaurant
40 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1 , City Centre North, Dublin

Came here as a birthday treat and absolutely rolled out of the place. I had the smoked haddock and the steak and my partner had the chowder and another fish dish. it was sublime. The portions are enormous, so try not to wolf everything down. My haddock was amazing. The steak was brilliant and so filling, I left all the chips behind. Gorgeous setting, because it was spilling rain and you feel really cosy inside the restaurant.

Copper & Spices Restaurant & Wine Bar
Ludlow Street, Navan, Meath

A big gang of us from a local club booked in here for a celebration. We had a large area booked and some of the girls had never eaten Indian before, so it was nice for them to try something different. The service was top notch, the staff were around really quickly to take orders and had no problem suggesting dishes to those who were first timers! I got the green curry which was just hot enough for my palate! Everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals. They were very accommodating when more people arrived late and found chairs to seat us all, even though they had a pretty full house!

Springfort Hall Hotel
Mallow, Mallow, Cork

We ate here on Saturday night, just in the bar. There was a big gang of us in and they had no problem seating us! The food took a while to come out, but when it did, it was really nice!! The owner/manager/proprietor came over at the end to ask us how we had found the meal, which was a really nice touch. I got the curry which was nice and mild and there were also nice compliments given for the burgers, the lamb shank and the fish too!

El Toro Loco
c/o The Courtyard, Johnstown, Navan, Meath

I went here 2 weeks in a row. The first week was so busy we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. I got the enchiladas. While they were nice, they were a little dry. That's the only complaint that I really had with my food. They give you very large portions. The second week I chose the fajitas. They were really nice and once again, the portion was so big that I couldn't finish. It might be wiser to not get a starter, but it's very difficult to bypass the loaded nachos as a starter!! The only thing that I would like to see changed is when you order a dish and they just pour the sauce all over the dish for you, as opposed to serving it on the side as an accompaniment. My friends got 2 different dishes and the sauce was poured on top of the dish for them. Sometimes it reminds me a little of a carvery when the sauce is poured on like that. The decor is lovely, it has a really nice mixture of random bits and pieces. The music was at a nice level too. The service was quick and the waitress was knowledgeable regarding the wines too.

Lennox Cafe and Bistro
31 Lennox Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I was really disappointed by this place. My sister raved about for ages and we decided to go. While I appreciate that it was Sunday lunch time and that we would have to wait, there was a guy on the front desk that completely ignored us. We had to approach him. After roughly 15 minutes, we got a table that had emptied just as we left. That was fine, we ordered, but my food was very bland. I was just very disappointed by the entire experience. Our teapot was only half filled and when we asked them to fill it up, we were ignored two more times, this also happened when we asked for milk. I don't think I will return. The interior is gorgeous and really nicely laid out, but the price, the service and the food was lousy!

La Paloma
17B Asdills Row, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I was very disappointed when I visited this restaurant. I had heard great things about the food, the drink, the atmosphere, everything. The food for some of the guests was a little bland and tasteless. My starter was lovely, but my main wasn't that great. I went for the stuffed pepper option and was disappointed. The service was very bad, plates were left on the table for a very long time, the drinks were brought down to the table slowly and not together. The waiter didn't seem to want to serve us, it was almost as if he avoided our table altogether. It wasn't even as if the place was full. The worst thing about the night was when the television was tuned into the X Factor final and the volume was turned up high enough. That should not happen in a restaurant. I don't think I will return to this restaurant sadly.

La Bucca & Wine Bar
Corballis Demesne, Ratoath, Ratoath, Meath

Any time I have been here, I have had a great time. It is quite difficult to get a table on a Sunday if you walk in, so it would be best to reserve a table. I like the way you can see into the kitchen too, it gives it a great atmosphere. I was once here for my friends birthday and they provided us with our own set meal, which was a really nice touch. I loved the pasta, especially the spicy tomato pasta sauce! I have never had a bad meal here.

Mix Asian Fusion Restaurant
Unit 7, First Floor, Corballis Shopping Centre, Ratoath, Meath

II have visited a few times and love the fact that they have a Karaoke room there too! The only thing that I find questionable is the size of the portions they give. While the food is nice, the portions are very small for the price you are paying. And the plates generally seem to be quite large which only morphs the meal even more. The staff were vey good and didn’t keep us waiting and the food was delivered quite fast. They have a nice selection of drinks and I love the layout of the restaurant.

The Chili Club
Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

2 of us went here and it being a Wednesday night we didn't think we'd need to make a reservation. But when we arrived, the place was packed, which is a great sign. So we had to wait just 15 minutes for a table and the place really did not disappoint. The service was quick and sharp. The food was gorgeous, I got the yellow Thai curry and my boyfriend got the beef Masaman curry and both were absolutely gorgeous. The portions were just the perfect size. I'm really glad I didn't get a starter otherwise I wouldn't have been able to finish both. I was very impressed with this place!

Magee's Bistro
Tholsel Street, Carlingford, Carlingford, Louth

We were really lucky to get a table in here in on a very busy night. We arrived at around 6ish and could see that it was very busy and luckily we managed to get a table. We even saw groups being turned away because they were so busy. So I would definitely suggest booking a table here. I got the goats cheese starter which was fantastic and my boyfriend got the fish cake and that too was amazing. For the main we got a steak and a char-grilled chicken. The steak was the medium side of rare but we asked for a more rare steak. This didn't take away from how nice it was. The chicken was slightly boring, however it came with bacon which I opted to not eat. The chicken was quite dry and there was slightly too much cheese on it. But I would go again to try something else. And we were thrilled to see frogs legs and escargots on the menu!!! The atmosphere was great and the decor was really nice and bright. It felt like a Spanish restaurant. There was a lively buzz about the place too. The staff had a lot on their hands but managed it well.

Kingfisher Bistro
Darcy Mc Gee Court, Dundalk Street, Carlingford, Louth

The outside is beautiful, the indoors is really nice and the ambience is quite relaxing. The decor was really warm and cosy. The food was delicious. We both had the steak and it was mouth-wateringly good. The garlic mash was divine, the peppercream sauce was scrumptious and the staff were super nice. They were attentive and easy going and very friendly. The only drawback would be the price was a little steep for what it was. I will most definitely be returning.

The Exchange Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
The Westin Dublin, At College Green, Westmoreland Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I don’t think I found one flaw with this place. It is reasonably priced, the staff are so lovely and friendly and efficient! I had the goats cheese and pear starter, gorgeous and then we both had the steak, medium to rare, champ and onion rings. I love steak and this was divine. I have every intention of returning. We asked for a quiet corner and we got a lovely little area by the window, so it was perfect. I loved this and have been dreaming about that champ ever since. It was so good. The dessert menuwas amazing and we found it very hard to settle on 2, when we wanted to get them all!!! Another reason to return :)

Diep le Shaker
55 Pembroke Lane, (Off Pembroke Street), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

4 of us booked in to celebrate on Saturday evening and our table was perfect. We were until the big long skylight, we had plenty of space and the atmosphere was gorgeous. We each got 4 different dishes, but the Tiger Cry was by far the best. The steak was cooked to perfection and nicely seasoned. The wine was gorgeous, the cocktail list was really broad, so we all tried something different again. I will definitely be returning. The staff were flawless, always quick to serve and very helpful. Really nice and the decor was gorgeous.

Messrs Maguire
O'Connell Bridge, Burgh Quay, City Centre South, Dublin

I love Messrs! I've eaten here a few times and really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere in there!! The portions are very big and I loved my spicy cheese burger. I have a very soft spot for spicy and Mexican food, so I always manage to find something with spicy! The staff are very friendly and the service was very quick when we were in there last week.

The Crystal Bar @ The Beacon Hotel
Beacon Court, Sandyford, Dublin

Ate here when I stayed in the hotel with my boyfriend. The food was delicious, I had the thai beef salad to start and another beef dish as my main. It was beautiful and full of flavour and ready very quickly. The wine was gorgeous and went very well with our dishes. The service seemed slow and forgetful at the beginning, completely forgetting that we were waiting in the bar for half an hour to be seated, but other than that, we loved the restaurant!

Fitzsimons
21-22 Wellington Quay, Temple Bar , Temple Bar, Dublin

We came here to watch a football match on a Sunday and arrived just before 3pm. I was asked for I.D walking into the pub, even though I am 24, which I found very strange. I had been nuermous times and enjoyed it. but this once I was very put off the place. There was no warmth in the bar whatsoever. It was cold and uncomfortabe to sit in. We decided to order food. I had the Chcken club sandwich and my boyfriend had the BLT. My sandwich was incredibly dry, it said that there was supposed to be garlic mayonnaise on it, but there wasn't an ounce of it. So I had to compromise and just put normal mayonnaise on it, but it messed up the setting of it. My boyfriend's BLT was a little cold and not what a normal BLT should be like. We were just very disappointed with it all.

The Porterhouse (North )
Cross Guns Bridge, Glasnevin, Dublin

I have eaten here sometime while watching live sports, but the food is very disappointing. Many of the dishes have some sort of pork/sausage/ham/bacon in it and I do not eat this. And when we ordered garlic break with cheese, we were given enormous pizza sized dishes. This was great value for money, only neither me not my boyfriend finished ours as they were too big and they balance between the garlic and cheese was off, the blue cheese definitely out-weighed the garlic. The beers and service and entire ambience of the pub is incredible though. I love having a drink in the Porterhouse.

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

I've visited here twice and will definitely be returning as Mexican food is my favourite type of food. The first time, I think the waiter was new and got my boyfriends dish wrong. My boyfriend ordered the steak medallions but he was given the surf and turf. We realised the waiter was new and decided not to put him under pressure. The service for drinks was very slow, as we had to remind them that we ordered wine. The second time was much better and the food and srvice was excellent, but both times the restaurant was very empty. The food is simple Mexican, but done well and garnished nicely and presented very well.

F.X. BUCKLEY Steakhouse Crow Street
2 Crow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Looking for somewhere in Dublin that has nice steaks can be difficult, but FXB do amazing steaks and great variety of them. To start I had the Goats cheese tartlet which was delicious. And for the main course, I had the 10oz stirloin steak. I usually wouldn't be able to eat this much, but it was so nice, I didn't want it to go to waste. And I never eat meat with any sign of blood/redness in it, but I also did not want a leathery piece of steak. And I was impressed with it. My critiques however would be the service, it was very slow, and maybe because we were seated in a corner, the waiters never seemed to notice us looking for their attention. But when the service did gradually pick up. The desert was quite bizarre. Both my boyfriend and I got the ice cream, but the flavours were bland. And it wasn't easy to identify what flavours they were actually supposed to be. But the main course and the starter were incredible, I will be returning again.

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I visited here with 4 other people and it was a week before Christmas so it was very busy and we knew this would be the case, yet the staff were amazing. The food was top quality and the service was really good. And luckily we had a table away from large groups and were to the side of everything, which saved us hassle. The atmosphere was brilliant and it was very full aswell, which made it even better. The bill, which included starters, mains and deserts for all of us aswell as cocktails and beers came to a very very reasonable amount.

Koh
6-7 Jervis Street, Millennium Walkway, Dublin 1, City Centre, Italian Quarter, Dublin

The night I went to KOH it was quite quiet when we arrived and then half way through our meal it started to fill up. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it too. There are just two critiques that I would have. It was slightly cold in there throughout the night. And secondly their wine menu does not describe the wines, it just gives a list and says where it is from. As a result we got a very weak and unenjoyable wine. But overall, it was an amazing place and I will be returning again.

Eastern Tandoori (Cork)
1/2 Emmet Place, Cork City, Cork

I had eaten here once before on a trip to Cork and it was packed to the rafters. I returned here last week and the place was empty, but I did expect this seeing as we arrived a little before 10pm. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was the exact same quality and the service was top notch. We got a lovely window seat and were never hassled. The only thing that would throw me was the cost. It was very expensive for 2 starters, 2 mains and 4 beers!

Acapulco Restaurant
7 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

I love Mexican food and have eaten here so many times. It is always full and the food is very rich and is great quality for what you pay for it. The atmosphere is great and is always lively inside.

Fate Restaurant (Bettystown)

I found this place by accident and I was very surprised by how fulfilling the food and drinks were! The staff were very accommodating and everything from the decor to the garnishing was lovely. Very good quality for a very good price!

Relish
5 Bayview, Bettystown, Meath

I went back here with my boyfriend for his birthday. We had reserved the window seat and I am absolutely in love with the place again. The sandwiches are absolutely gorgeous, we both had chicken sandwiches and they both had this gorgeous garlic mayo. We treated ourselves to dessert and I got the white chocolate and marshmallow cheesecake. I was gutted I couldn't finish it, it was actually the best thing I have ever tasted. I wanted to bring the rest home in a doggie bag, but couldn't summon the courage to ask. I love this place, it is definitely worth a 50 minute trip from Dunshaughlin :D
