Ate here mid week for the early bird - great value, I had starter and mains, he had mains and dessert, 2 glasses wine, really good value. Food is great - be hungry, it is quite heavy. only one fault, wish the chicken wings were a bit crunchier! over all great food and really nice staff.

Booked a table here, and was told when I was booking that restaurnat would not be open but Long Hall Bar would be set up as Restaurant. When we arrived, waitress knew nothing about our booking and there were no tables set up in Restaurant style!! In fairness to her, she looked after us as quickly as she could and really well. We had starters and mains which were really tasty - huge portions! I wanted to have dessert, but had no room left, so just had coffee. Great food and great service, Just missed the Restaurant ambience.

Frankies Italian Bar and Grill
42 Temple Bar Square, Temple Bar, Dublin

Went here on New Years day, too lazy to cook etc...Chicken wings - really tasty, everything else - really disapointing. starter of calamari - 5 pieces deep fried. I had wings for mains, great. he had burger and Steak House fries - which arrived as skinny chips, we asked where were the Steak house fires and were told that these were the Chunkiest chips availabel! Burger was just average. Would only go back for the wings.

La Banca Ristorante
Main Street, Lucan Village, Lucan, Dublin

Ate here Saturday night on girls night out. Staff really friendly and gave wine tasting before we chose wine. Food really good - very creamy! Desserts a bit disapointing, but nonetheless good. I will be back

Kaynes Bar & Bistro
Muckross Road, Killarney, Killarney, Kerry

We had dinner here one night as part of 3 night hotel deal, which had one meal included. We had just returned from climbing Mount Brandon, so were starving - what a disapointment - worst meal I have had in such a long time. Starters - he had Garlic Mushrooms on toast - looked and tasted absoloutely discusting, I had some Cheese and onion fritter - something like you would get in a fast food outlet. Mains - I had pan fried chicken and pasta - chicken was black in parts and pasta was gloopy and over cooked (How difficult is it to cook pasta!) He had salmon, which was fine. Potato and veg was dry and peppery. Desserts bland. Do not go here - there are so so many beautiful restaurants in Killarney

The Ivy @ Dunboyne Castle
Dunboyne Castle Hotel and Spa, Dunboyne, Dunboyne, Meath

Went for early bird menu - €20 pp. Worst value ever. I ordered Cod on a bed of mash for mains, I was told there was no cod left, but offered alternative white fish - presumed it would be served the same way - NO - served in a bowl surronded by at least a full head of lettuce, with, I kid you not, SAUSAGE! Worst meal I have had in ages. Other half had steak pie - watery sauce and no taste. I did see other diners ordering off the a la carte menu and their food looked much better....Will never be back.

Went here with a gang for our Christmas lunch. Food was really good and waitress very helpful. FXBs always seem to have specials on 2 courses, early bird menu etc, so are realy good value. Portions genorous and no problem with extras, We will be back.
