Pretty much giving top marks on every level here, it was a fantastic night of great food, superb service and wonderful ambience. Calamari and jumbo prawns were delicious to start off and the mains of Beef Massaman and Chicken Green Thai curry were excellent. Live music in the bar downstairs finished off the evening where we danced till the wee small hours. Staff took excellent care of us, they went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous evening, which we indeed did. We'll be back!!!

Okra Green Castleknock
Unit 1, Village Shopping Centre, Dublin 15, Castleknock, Dublin

I've ordered a take away from this restaurant in the past and I wasn't overly impressed but decided to give the dine-in experience a shot. Unfortunately my opinion has not improved as a result of my visit last Friday evening. The first thing that struck us was that the restaurant was uncomfortably warm, so we asked if the air-con could be turned on. I have to say our waitress was extremely helpful but no sign of the air-con. Our starters arrived very quickly (we hadn't even finished the poppadum's) but they were delicious so no complaints there. However the mains did leave quite a lot to be desired, Chicken Tikka Masala was very pale and creamy and not spicy at all, definitely more like a Korma. The Jalfrizi was nice and spicy, however only THREE prawns made it an awful lot of sauce and very little substance! This is certainly not a budget price restaurant and the food definitely does not justify the top-end prices. Unfortunately we will not be returning here for take-away or dine-in again.

Wrights Findlater Howth Restaurant
Findlater House, North Co. Dublin, Howth, Dublin

Serious staff shortages on the night of our visit made the experience a bit Fawlty Toweresque but the waitress certainly tried her best. We were kept waiting for a suitable table but offered a drink to compensate, so that helped. Service was very slow but the solo waitress did her best to keep everyone satisfied. Food was very nice, we had the seafood mixed grill and the selection of fish and seafood was varied and tasty. We had a Menupages voucher (hence the 5* rating for value) but I'm not sure it was worth €25 each had we paid full price. Perhaps it was the night that was in it but we didn't feel much atmosphere in the restaurant, all things considered it was a pleasant enough evening but we wont be rushing back.

The Mandarin Castle
Unit 10 Castleknock Village Centre, West Dublin, Castleknock, Dublin

The Mandarin has been a regular haunt for good food and a convenient location for many years. Service can sometimes be a little sketchy but overall a very nice dining experience.

Pichet
14/15 Trinity Street, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

We ate from the early bird menu and despite a limited menu choice the food was absolutely excellent. We loved the relaxed atmosphere, perhaps a little quiet, but we were there very early as we had a concert to attend. As the place filled up there was a definite buzz around and we were raging we had to leave. Service was satisfactory and all in all it was a very enjoyable experience.

Pyg Restaurant
Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, South William Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Having had lunch many times in the Townhouse part of the restaurant we had high hopes for dinner. When (finally) we were able to get a table booking we were informed it was only the bar open in the evening but that didn't really phase us. Sadly, what can only be described as a total fiasco, started with a party already sitting at our table. Begrudgingly the incumbents slowly moved on but the waitress high-tailed it and left us to our own devices to shift them. We got settled and ordered drinks and food, upon our waitress return we were informed that the kitchen was "very busy" and it would be about 45 minutes for the food to come out. We totally understood and were delighted when she bought us bread and olives to stave off the hunger. We found it a little strange that we were asked to settle the drinks bill in advance and couldn't run a tab! Later we understood why! After almost 90 minutes and several complaints later the food finally came out, the large majority of it being cold! Not happy campers at all!!!! In fairness we were compensated with a round of drinks due to the delay and finally offered to refund the value of the Menupages vouchers we had purchased. But that said, we would much rather have enjoyed the excellent dining we have experienced on previous occasions for lunch.
