Saturday evening Pre-Theatre menu -Very warmly welcomed, atmosphere lovely, staff very very attentive, food & wine gorgeous. Only downside was the portions of food are small so don't go expecting a big feed!

Brooks
52 St. Brigid St, Artane, Dublin

Lovely local café, great food. No longer opens after 4.30pm. Only downside is they should do own/homemade brown bread with soup.

Casa Del Toro
88 Drumcondra Road Upper, Drumcondra, Dublin

Monday, early bird, first in to restaurant -hence the low score on atmosphere. Early bird menu had great variety and good size portions. Staff very pleasant and efficient.

Thyme Restaurant
Custume Place, Athlone, Westmeath

Visited on a Sunday night (table for 2), really warm welcome on entrance, although restaurant not nearly full. 4 courses for 19.95 p.p. and the quality of the food was great. Starter of so with 3 diff bread types, and fish cake was gorgeous served on slate plate with sauces on side. 1 had chicken, 1 had minute steak -cooked exactly as asked. Chunky chips were just goregous. Not a native of athlone, noticed plenty of punters were well known getting exactly what they wanted on a regular basis. Would recommend to anyone visiting Athone for the friendly warm welcome and wonderful food. 2 courses for 2 with wine & 1 coffee, €62 - that is good :) Visit n enjoy :)

Masterson's Steakhouse & Wine Bar
17 Main Street, Swords, Dublin

€50 for 2 people 3 courses and house wine, fab deal. Service was excellent, water provided without request. New tissues given after each course, which is great, especially for messy eaters! Service was great, place was buzzing, the seating arrangements are great, whether intimate or for a group, all can be looked after. We had a voucher (won in a prize draw) & it made no difference. Food was great, and lots of it, staff v attentive, WILL return. Great offer for 3 courses & wine €50.

McHugh’s Wine & Dine Restaurant
59 St. Assam's Park, Dublin 5, Raheny, Dublin

Visited with a large group on a very hot Friday in May. Courses were nicely spaced out. Starters of soup, goats cheese & wings all went down well, very tasty burgers, chicken and pasta dishes were ordered for the main, all very nicely served and very tasty. Deserts went down a treat. Waitresses kept bottles of water topped up throughout the meal. Service was very good, food very tasty and will return. Aircon kept the restaurant really cool. Just two minor downsides, there is only one toilet and there is no outdoor space/rear courtyard and it would have been nice on such a hot day to be able to step outside.

KC Peaches Cafe & Delicatessen (Nassau Street)
28/29 Nassau Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Only went to the wine bar for drinks, so cannot score food. Downstairs in the wine bar on their first friday night open -only 6 people there, but it was still nice. Lovely rustic style to it, and the 2 staff were so nice & pleasant. After giving us drinks menu, they arrived with glasses & bottle of water -nice touch for a wine bar, before ordering. Very good wine list, range of prices to suit all. Can't wait to sample the food next time.

Chilli Banana
112 Upper Drumcondra Road, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin

Early bird on a Friday evening for 2 people. As there were very few people already in the restaurant, we felt the staff were 'watching' us a bit too much & it was a little off-putting, especially as the restaurant is quite narrow on the ground floor, so you are close to where the staff are. The starter of spring rolls & chicken satay were small and tasted a bit over done as well as a bit re-heated. However, the main course of thai chicken with rice was really nice, authentic taste and look. Staff were very nice, water brought to table etc.. Will go back a bit later in the evening to sample better atmsophere later at night & to have tasty thai chicken again.

Moloughney's Clontarf
9 Vernon Avenue, North Dublin, Clontarf, Dublin

Went on Friday for a late lunch, 3pm adn was so impressed went back the following Monday for lunch. Food is of an extremly high standard, and the menu is different from your usual restaurants. Ingredients are high quality and flavours are gorgeous. Had delicious soup & sambo on Fri, my friend had the fish of the day. Both dishes were really nice. Went back on Monday for the 2 course lunch special, had pear/goats cheese/nut/salad -really unusual & nice. Main had a vegetable curry -delicious flavours, very well presented. Friend had the soup & a lamb burger with homemade chips -really tasty, very well cooked, flavours mixed very well. Waiters are very attentive, topping up glasses of water without being asked. Atmosphere is very relaxed, you can take your time over lunch, not a problem to sit & drink coffee/read a book. Deserts look great, but we were too full, people at other tables had come in just for coffee and cakes. A little pricey for a lunch menu, but balanced out by the wonderful flavours, great service and relaxed atmsophere. Will try night visit next.

Casa Pasta (Clontarf)
55 Clontarf Road, Dublin 3, Clontarf, Dublin

Went mid-week, very disappointed with food quality. Starter of satay chicken tasted like it was heated in the microwave, satay sauce too thick, limp salad to accompany. Penne Pasta with Italian sausage, mange tout & olives for main. Pasta was done nice, 4 olives and 3 pieces of mange tout! sausage cut too thick. Wasted money on a meal out. Would not recommend.

Salamanca
1 St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

2 of us had the Christmas lunch, 1 course & coffee fod €11, excellent value. Rib steak in sauce of choice was v good with portion of mash & veg. Chicken in mushroom sauce v good too, had with mash & veg but other side available. It was a good 'dinner', but no tapas on this special offer. Even though quite busy, staff coped very well, all orders correct & advised if there were delays. Would recommend & will go again.

Poppadom (Sligo)
34 O'Connell St, Sligo Town, Sligo

Really good quality Indian food, freshly prepared and SO tasty. Staff v friendly, attentive and professional. Chose from early bird menu & when they realsied we were sharing the starter, they plated it up for 2 instead. Also chose off main menu. Be prepared to wait for freshly prepared food, it's worth it. Price very good too, reasonable. Hard to find identify a fault so will say the decor wasn't great. Recommend without hesitation to anyone visiting Sligo. No wonder it is an award winning restaurant.

Pichet
14/15 Trinity Street, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

4 gals for great value 3 course early bird on Fri night. Decor lovely, great atmosphere but our table had people pass both sides of it, in front & behind us. Found it a little off putting with everyone going buy, especially the staff taking orders from kitchen- had to walk past us with each order. Complimentary french stick + olive oil to start. One suggestion; for the waiters to use a cloth while cutting the bread rather than their hands. Mains of Pork + Chicken could have had a slightly larger portion of veg/potatoe with them. Starters + desert perfect size. Wine very reasonable. Service excellent, very attentive staff. Will go back again.

Picasso Restaurant
1 Vernon Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin

Pricey but a lovely treat for yourself. 4 os us went on Sat night, service was excellent, very attentive but not over the top or overpowering. Food was gorgeous, althoug a bit pricey. Potatoes/veg included with dish (which wasn't the case a few years ago), we were offered (& took) extra potatoes. House wine was lovely. Food cooked to perfection. Steaks are pricey but it is a lovely treat. Not rushed out when finished meal. Will go again for an occassion.

Bad Ass Cafe
Crown Alley, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Over past 20+ years of going to the Bad Ass, this was worst experience. Service very poor, waiters re-arranging & moving tables/chairs while food waiting to be delivered to our table. Drinks order taken wrong and with a long delay before arriving, so we had to re-order and then got a double order delivered -waiter didn't even notice he what he had done. 8% automatic service charge on bill (2 adults, 2 kids) -bit cheeky to charge that. Food was very nice and it is a good price but due to service, won't be returning again.
