Reviewed 15th October 2015 ( visited 14th October 2015 )went here on a wednesday evening, place was buzzing but not packed. Food was fantastic, an portions very generous. Service was great. Could easily be mistaken for a place thats more style over substance, but that's certainly no the case. Would defo go again.

Was really looking forward to eating here as the reviews and word of mouth were really good. I have to admit to being disappointed. The place itself isn't the cosiest, especially for a pub serving the type of food that it does. We were expecting something a little more warm and interesting, but the decor is 'minimal' to say the least, it was too bright and it was pretty cold. We had the starter of mushrooms and blue cheese dressing, but it didn't taste like blue cheese, more like a carbonara sauce. Main courses of Bangers & Mash and haddock in breadcrumbs were quite small for the price. Two sausages, both on the small side, and quite a small piece of fish in the centre of two huge plates with little in the way of dressing. The beer menu was great, but you'd be hard pushed to stick around after your meal, the atmosphere is so dull. The food was nice, but I've had much nicer food along the same 'rustic' lines in several places in the city, without having to trek out to Stoneybatter for the pleasure! Staff were excellent though, and the chocolate mousse was rich and creamy and was about the same size as a main course. A nice idea poorly executed. Could so easily be a great pub/restaurant with a few little changes.

Eat here fairly regularly, and have yet to be disappointed. Even if we only drop in for a glass of wine or two, the staff are always really friendly, and they all really know their stuff. Several times we've been recommended to try something not on the list which might be cheaper than many of the wines on it. Great atmosphere, and always very accommodating.

Went here on a quiet Sunday evening just after New Years day. Thought the food was excellent - I had the rack of lamb and my girlfriend had the cod fillet which she loved. Bit disappointed at the hummous / crusty bread starter. For 8.50 you should at least get a decent amount of bread, not just two small crusts with three dips. Also, the house red wasn't available, which is a shame, because the portugese bottle which was recommended was fairly dodgy. Will definitely go back when there's more people around as the food is seriously good and the place really has a nice vibe.
