Jaipore Indian Restaurant
Lower Eyre Street, Newbridge, Kildare
Reviewed 21st May 2010 ( visited 20th May 2010 )This is my first posting and this restaurant made me want to sign up and give this review, thats how highly I rate it! Myself and my girlfriend ate here last night and we both loved it! Food was easily the nicest indian we've had in ages, and we like our Indian food, try alot of Indian restaurants. Service was exceptional, not to much attention and not too little. We had the Achari Lamb and Butter Chicken which were beautiful and the meat was so tender it almost melted in our mouths, no cheap cuts here. Only a 4/5 for atmosphere purely because it was almost empty but it was still very cosy and welcoming, I'd imagine on a busy service it would be 5/5. Unfortunately as neither of us live in Kildare, we were passing through, we can't make it a regular. Will make the effort to pass through more often now though!

Reviewed 24th June 2010 ( visited 28th May 2010 )Ate in Swai last month, had a really nice, tasty meal. Went for the set menu and the choices were decent enough for what you pay, good tasty food, Chicken Satay starter was excellent and there was plenty of it, the Roti Canai was delicious also. The main courses are huge, couldn't finish them there was that much in them. You get a glass of wine as part of the set menu and a dessert, all for €20 which is brilliant value, especially considering the portion sizes. Lovely setting but was a bit quiet so atmosphere suffered. All in all if you like Malay food or Asian food you should definitely give Swai a go, I'll certainly be going back.

Four of us went for dinner and ordered a pile of plates to pick and share. The staff were brilliant and helped recommend some tasty dishes. Gambas were gorgeous as were the scallops, meatball, patatas bravas and the spinach and chickpeas. The only disappointing dishes were the chorizo ones. All in all a great spot and good value.

Myself and my wife ate here for her birthday and had an amazing meal and experience. From the moment you arrive you are treated with a real personal touch and not at all in a pretentious manner. The food is exceptional, not that you'd expect any less, we had the scallops and lobster for starter and the scallops were unreal. The beef main was superb as was the duck and while I had a divine dessert my wife opted out only to be brought a mini birthday cake on the house. It was a really nice touch and done with no fuss at all. It is expensive in comparison to other top restaurants but when you factor in the service and quality it is definitely worthwhile. We'll be back, hopefully soon!

Myself and my wife ate here as part of a deal. Right from the start the service was impeccable. The food was exceptional, the beetroot starter was sublime and the pork belly was delicious. The value for money was excellent and overall the whole experience was superb. Will definitely be back as even the normal menu prices and set menus are brilliant value and the service is outstanding. We ate here on a Friday evening and despite having a booking and there being better tables inside we were left at the entrance to the restaurant at a table far too big for us. The service was slow and lacked care. The food was not at all what I'd expected, it was bland and flavourless. The Tom Yum soup was not spicy, the Laksa was awful, the rendang was far too heavy and had no spice or flavour and the crab starter had very little crab in it. Overall a poor meal and will not be going back again. Prices are extortionate for the quality of food. Place seems to be living off a reputation as opposed to good food.

Had a menupages voucher and used it on Sat. Service was very warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. The food was quick and fresh and tasted delicious. We went for the Lollypop Chicken which is gorgeous and the Chad Pat which was amazing although very spicy and may not be to everyones taste. For mains we had the butter chicken and the chicken Nanglo which both tasted really good. My only slight moan would be a lack of sauce for the Nanglo but as this is a dry dish it was my fault for not asking. All in all a fabulous meal and will be back in the near future!

We went for the early bird special on Tuesday night. Price wise it seemed good value for money but the food was nothing special at all. Calamari starter was bland and insipid. The main of rottiserie chicken was nice but didn't come with the trimmings as per the menu description. The main of their house burger looked good but the meat itself was very small and the chips just didn't taste good. All in all I don't think we'll be rushing back to the restaurant again.

We went here for a birthday celebration and the food and service were superb! It was a surprisingly busy night and the staff were taken unawares but still got the delicious food out on time and without too much delay. We had the mussels, crab, soup and goats cheese for starters - all were exceptional. For the mains we had steak, pork belly and lamb and all the plates were polished off by us. Food was excellent and will definitely be back.
Nyonya Malaysian Restaurant
76 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
We ate here using a menupages deal and we received full portions of all our courses, The Roti Canai was delicious and the Satay Chicken was extremely tasty as well. For the mains we had Beef Rendang which was superb and a Chicken dish (cant remember the name!) which was very tasty. Service was good and overall we loved the food and the restaurant. Very authentic Malaysian cuisine and we will definitely be back.
The Winding Stair Restaurant

We went here as part of a work lunch. If it wasn't for our group the place would have been dead. The food reads amazingly but unfortunately it flatters to deceive. The taste, flavour and presentation leave a lot to be desired. The pricing is far too high for the quality of dishes being produced. I had the prawns on toast for starter. The prawns had a strange almost crumbly texture and the toast was soggy and nasty. The main of steak and chips with garlic butter was something anyone can whip up at home. Half a tub of overpowering garlic butter lumped on top as well. The service was good on the whole bar when we questioned what was floating in the vinegar and were told it was sediment as it was white wine vinegar. It wasn't white wine vinegar and it wasn't sediment so we really didn't like being blatantly lied too by the staff. Will not be returning, average food at above average prices.

My girlfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a dinner in the main upstaris restaurant here one Friday evening. Having booked in advance we were surprised when we rang to confirm the booking was ok they had no record of it and when we arrived they seemed equally unsure of our booking. We were then shown to a table hidden in the corner of the restaurant. The meal itself was gorgeous and the food was of a superb quality. However the service was nothing short of disgraceful. We had wine and candle wax spilled on our table by the waiters and at the end of our meal we had to wait over an hour before we eventaully walked to the reception to ask for our bill. No offer of an apology or any concern was shown by the staff and they even had the nerve to add in the tip to the credit card machine. We then left and had to search for our own coats in the cloakroom. Despite sending a complaint email we have heard nothing back from them. I would recommend strongly against a visit to this michelin starred restaurant. No idea how they keep that star with the service on offer!
Delhi Lounge Indian Restaurant

Myself and my girlfriend went here on Sat 1st Oct. Having eaten the take away food on many occasions we decided to eat in the restaurant for a change. Suffice to say we will be sticking to the take away from now on!! While the food was gorgeous as always we waited over 20 mins for our starters and 40 mins after our starter plates had been cleared we had to ask where our main courses where. There was a "I'm sorry" but nothing else from the staff. Very disappointed and we both felt the staff seem to care more about getting the take aways out then serving the diners. The seating was also poor and our table was in between two other tables and we felt we were eating with the two other couples as there was little or no space between the tables. I would highly recommend the food but order a delivery or collection and avoid the eat-in option!

Ate here on Saturday night as a party of four. The early bird menu offers brillaint value, particularly as the food is so good. Unfortunately the atmosphere was a bit dead, perhaps because it was so early. The food was superb, really tasty and plentiful. The Keema Matar was particularly tasty and the onion bhaji type starter (can't recall the exact name) was gorgeous. Service was very disappointing and the staff could not care less about the customers. One waiter stank of cigarettes and had obviously just finished one without washing his hands or having a mint. As we left another staff member was outside the front door smoking which does not give a good impression to customers. Worth going to for the food but don't expect any sort of customer service!
The Counter Dundrum
Pembroke District, (adjacent to the Mill Pond at Town Square), Dundrum, Dublin
Great spot this! Gorgeous burgers and a massive selection of toppings, cheeses and sauces. Been here a few times and still not anywhere close to trying all the stuff on offer! Portions are huge, rarely have a starter and normally share fries between two. Service is very friendly, sometimes the food can be a bit on the slow side to come out, but it is worth waiting for. Prices are very very good for the size and quality of what you get.

Went here on Sunday evening, had a great value €56 deal. Two courses for two people and a bottle of wine. Starters were superb, fish cakes and paté. Main courses- one was excellent (lamb shank) and the other not so good, 8oz steak. Steak was overdone and lacked any real flavour. The lamb was excellent however, fell off the bone and was very tasty. Will definitely be back to try more of the brilliant menu selection. Place was jam packed and the atmosphere was really good. Despite the full restaurant the service was top notch, attentive, very friendly and quick.
Eden House (Above Eden House Pub), Grange Road, South Dublin, Rathfarnham, Dublin
We got a takeaway here on Monday night, hard to rate the atmosphere and service as it was early and I was only collecting the food. Food itself was great, bar the mixed starter which unfortunately doesn't last too well in the takeaway containers. Mains were really good, plenty of meat and tasty as well. We had the chilli massala and Rogan Ghosh and both were delicious. Rice and Naan were good and a side of Saag Paneer was also really nice. Will definitely be trying here again, maybe without the pakora and bhaji for takeaway!
6-7 Jervis Street, Millennium Walkway, Dublin 1, City Centre, Italian Quarter, Dublin
Went to Koh on Friday night after work with my girlfriend. We had the early bird and it was very good value. She definitely made the better choices and her satay starter was beautiful. Plenty of it as well which was good. I had the wrapped prawns which were only ok. For mains we had the Penang beef and the holy basil beef. The Penang beef was by far the nicer, really, really good dish. The holy basil beef wasn't as hot as I'd hoped and had a bit to much soy for my taste. Overall it was a nice meal, good value and will be back to try more of the menu.

Really good food and nice atmosphere. Great little spot for a bite to eat. Had the shredded beef burrito, excellent! Will definitely be back here, unbelievable value, two burritos, side of nachos with guacamole and two drinks for less than €20.
Montys of Rathgar
88 Rathgar Road, Rathgar, Dublin
Ate here last night with the family, been here a fair few times and never disappoints. We went for 4 different mains, and each tried a bit of everything. The Chicken Nanglo is superb, and they'll do it as hot as you'd like it. No sauce though so be warned if you prefer saucy dishes. Lamb Ledo Bedo is gorgeous, very tasty. The Monkfish was amazing, really good flavour and it got nicer the more you ate!! Two starters, 4 mains, 3 rice, a nan and two bottles of wine came to €148, so not bad value at all for a really nice meal. Service is always good as well.
Siam Thai (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
Ate here last Friday with 3 others. Place was jammed, always a good sign, and the atmosphere was really good. Food was mainly tasty, although my own Jungle chicken curry was awful. BBQ Pork starter was exceptional. On the main the food was good and everyone else was happy with their choices. It's quite expensive, although the early bird seems good value, so knocked it down a few on the value score. Overall it's a lovely spot and will be back.
