Had a late lunch in Pintxo as a birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The menu was varied with lots of authentic spanish dishes on offer. We had the chicken dish plus the prawns and the black pudding which were all delicious.Being a birthday celebration we had the Cava which was delightful! The service was excellent with very knowledgeable staff on hand with advice on the food, wines and vintage ports on offer. Altogether a lovely experience in a cool relaxed atmosphere. I will return!

Luigi Malones Restaurant
5/6 Cecilia Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I had the lunch special here today at €9.75. which is great value for a medium main course plate and a drink (beer or wine €2 extra). I ordered the pasta carbonara which arrived without delay and as I was hungry I tucked in. The first few mouthfuls were ok but by half way through I thought... I make better carbonara than this! To put it plainly it tasted greasy / oily and due to my hunger I carried on eating it. Wish I hadn't, it left me feeling queasy after about an hour. I dont understand what happened here as I know Luigi Malones has a good reputation. Maybe it was the chef's day off. I'll think again before eating here.

The Porterhouse (North )
Cross Guns Bridge, Glasnevin, Dublin

First visit here for B & myself and what a very pleasant surprise! For starters B had the salt and chilli squid and I had the caprese salad and both were excellent. B followed on with the 8oz flat iron steak with chunky chips , mushrooms and onions. I had the lamb shank pie with creamy mash which was delicious, as well as being quite a novelty . (our Jack Russel loved the bone) The wine was a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc "Vicars Choice" which had a real new world attraction with that veggie flavour which I love! . 2 courses each and wine plus a dessert all for just less than €50. We will be back. Terrific value.

Reeds @ Ferrycarrig Hotel
Ferrycarrig Bridge, Wexford, Wexford Town, Wexford

Ate at Reeds on a Sunday evening. The views over the bay are stunning and the food matched the views! We shared a starter which was enormous and delicious - so be warned unless you are particularly hungry! The main courses of chicken stuffed with a chorizo mix on were delicious and the side veggies were fresh and very tasty. The wine menu was varied but pricey, but then there was that wonderful view to pay for I suppose! The hotel also offer a very good bar menu which is excellent value. We had a lunch on Monday from the bar menu and enjoyed the variety of salads on offer. We were seated outside on the terrace of "The Locker Room Bar" and could'nt help but be charmed by those stunning views again).

The Yard Restaurant
3 Lower George Street, Wexford Town, Wexford

My wife and I ate here on a quiet Monday evening but were delighted with the warm welcome from our waitress. The restaurant has a real french atmosphere about it and reminded of a Cafe in Edinburgh. The starters were mussels in a red thai coconut sauce and a warm duck caesar salad which were absolutely delightful. Our choice of mains consisted of rack of lamb and sirloin steak. The lamb was the most tender I have ever tasted and the sirloin was top quality complete with it's bearnaise sauce. Would I recommend this restaurant? Yes Yes Yes!

Kavanaghs (Gravediggers)
1 Prospect Square, Glasnevin, Dublin

My wife and I had a meal here last week and were surprised at the quality and fast friendly service. The food is tapas style and we had a selection of 6 dishes which included a lovely smoked mozzarella wrapped in parma ham served on a crispy bread (bruschetta style). All in all a very pleasant experience. The total cost of food was €19 ! what a pleasant surprise and with a bottle of wine priced at €18 an altogether wothwhile outing. We'll be back.

Siam Thai (Andrews Street)
14/15 Andrews Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Have visited this restaurant for the last 3 years but this is my first review! Barbara and I have frequented Siam Thai on several occassions (each year) over the last 3 years and are always delighted with the consistant quality of food and service. The only slight criticism would be on value for money as regards "house wines". Please oh please put on a reasonably priced quality range of house wines and you will find that people will open their wallets and purses that little bit more! Other than this small complaint I love Siam Thai for the food and service .. but for that little bit of improvement ..see above.

Port House Pintxo
12 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin

My first visit to an Irish tapas bar and it was a delightful one. The quality and freshness of the food was excellent, the knowledgable staff were polite and very helpful and the ambience of the restaurant made this a delightful experience.I would recommend the lamb stew and the patatas bravas. The wine suggested by our waiter was excellent and his knowledge of the food and wine made this an excellent dining experience and not a costly one!
