Wynne's Café Bar @ The Grand Hotel
Abbey Street, Wicklow Town, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

Have eaten here a couple of times over the last few months and enjoyed the food, even though the restaurant/bar can be a bit on the chilly side. On our recent visit I was very disappointed with the service and the food. I ordered lasagna which was served with thick cut chips, side salad and a very large portion of coleslaw, my partner had the fish & chips. There were about 4/6 other people in the Bar when we arrived, service was very slow, staff were not that interested in serving us..... We got our drinks and menus and sat down, no staff member approached us to take our order so friend went to the bar to place our order for food. Food arrived after what seemed a long time (we though they had forgot about us). Presentation of food was good, but when I tasted the lasagne it was cold, in fact parts of it were stone cold. My understanding of reheating food is that is has to reach 75 degrees in temperature before it can be served!!!!! The chips were lovely, my friends fish & chips were good and hot. As I could not get a staff members attention I brought the food back to the bar myself stating that the lasagna was cold. I had kept the chips and eat them while I waited for the return of the lasagna. A while later I got a new plate of food piping hot which I enjoyed but the second batch of chips that were served were undercooked, they were very hard. It was very disappointing to say the least. The waiter who served us apologised several times and did not charge for the lasagna dish, the waitress was not that interested, I have recommended this Bar/Restaurant to family members but I doubt if we will return.

La Bucca Dunboyne
The Green Centre, Dunboyne Village, Dunboyne, Co. Meath, Dunboyne, Meath

I have eaten here on several occasions and it never fails to disappoint, they have a Gluten Free menu which is great, nothing is too much trouble for them especially as some of my party are fussy eaters and others have intolerance to certain foods. It is great value for money especially the Starter Portions which are very generous, service and staff are excellent.

Batterstown, Dunboyne, Meath

Had Lunch on Sunday with my family. Rib Roast Beef was delicious, service was excellent (except there were no tooth picks) pity.... Presentation excellent, we will be back again. Well done to whoever has reopened this restaurant you have put a lot of work into it and it was evident by the amount of people who were having Sunday Lunch yesterday

Ashford House on the Weir Gastro Pub
Ashford House, Ashford, Wicklow

Called into the Ashford House on Tuesday last as my partner and I were on our way to Dubli. It is a couple of years while since we have been in the Ashford House for something to eat. There was three other customers in the pub at the time, it was a very cold night and even though the fire was set it was not lighting which was a pity as it would of given the place some heat and a bit more atmosphere. We were greeted by a friendly bar man who handed us the menu almost immediately. My partner ordered Fish & chips with mushy peas (one of his favorites) and I ordered the starter portion of fish cakes with chips. I was glad I had ordered the starter portion as there was two cakes which was plenty and a large dish of chips, but as I started to eat the chips I was disappointed as they were only warm which kind of spoiled it for me. The barman asked if everything was okay and on telling him about the chips he promptly took them away and arrived back with a fresh batch of chips cooked to perfection and hot. My partner fish was lovely but his chips were also just warm and there were not enough mushy peas which was a pity. Well worth a visit though if you are in the area.

Danby Lodge Hotel
Killinick, Rosslare Road, Killinick, Wexford

My family and I were looking for somewhere to eat on the Saturday night of the bank holiday, as we were driving passed the Danby Hotel on the Rosslare Road we saw a sign outside advertising Sirlion Steak with mushrooms, onions & chips for €13.95.... We decided to give it a try as it was getting late and most restaurants in the area were booked out. We decided to eat in the bar, the waitress informed us that the steaks were 6oz sirlions, 4 of us ordered the steaks and one went for a fish dish and was he disappointed. The sirlions were more on the 8 -10oz and were absolutely lovely, cooked and served as requested with all the trimmings. We will be back the next time we are looking for a restaurant in the area.

Coolquay Lodge (Dublin)
The Ward (Just off the N2), North Dublin, The Ward, Dublin

Was taken here last week for lunch with a friend. I have eaten here on several occassions and always found the food okay. It was busy enough for a lunchtime trade during these recessionary times. If you are passing by it is worth a visit.

Casa Nostra (Dublin)
5-7 Cloncourt, Main Street, Clonee, Clonee, Dublin

I have eaten here several times in the last couple of years and have recommended this restaurant to friends and family. My boyfriend and I went here last Wednesday evening for something light to eat. The restaurant was busy with one waiter doing all the work while the waitress wandered around looking lost. Eventually she took our order, all we wanted was a Pizza Margaretta between us, price on menu stated €10.95 we were changed €12.95 when my boyfriend asked for a receipt the Manager took an age to gave us a print out from the till showing €12.95. Rip off or what!!!! Even with all the advertising Kids eat free, bring your own wine etc etc I will not be recommending this restaurant again. I have and will continue to spread the word about the likes overcharging.

Kehoe's Pub & Parlour - Closed
Kilmore Quay, Co Wexford, Kilmore, Wexford

I have been to Kehoe's Pub several times over the years and always found the food and service excellent. Eat here recently with family and friends and have to say we were very disappointed, food was not up to its usual standards and the service was very poor. It was a very cold night and even though we were put sitting beside the fire there was a very cold draught coming through the open door that all the staff seem to go through with dirty plates. It is always cold and draughty in Kehoe's and for some reason the doors going out the back of the premises are always open. Perhaps the owner should spend some money on putting in proper doors that stay closed. Not sure if we will bother going back there again to eat.

Slevin's Pub
Main Street, Dunboyne, Meath

Slevins is overprices especially in these recessionary times. Had lunch here last week with a friend I was charged €7.25 for a Chicken Panini with a few measely crisps and €2.00 for a pot of tea. I mean €7.25 and not even a salad garnish in sight. This place is way overpriced. I will not be back to Slevins again and I will be spreading the word. DO NOT GO TO SLEVINS IT IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR LUNCH

Beckett's
Cooldrinagh House, Leixlip, Kildare

Its approx two years since I eat in Becketts, I was invited to Sunday Lunch recently and was looking forward to the lunch and catching up with old friends. The food was just okay, felt what was discribed on the menu was not what was served... The service was excellant, our Waitress remember what everyone at our table ordered.

The Mint Leaf (Dunboyne)
Summerhill Road, Dunboyne, Meath

A friend and I had lunch here recently, its been about 6 months since I was in the area and knowing the history of the restaurant we could not pass it. As usual the food and service were excellent. Just one draw back, there bathroom facilities are upstairs which is a pity. Hopefully we will be back again soon.
