RiverBank Restaurant @ The Court Yard Hotel
Main Street, Leixlip, Kildare
Reviewed 29th March 2010 ( visited 26th March 2010 )First time visit to this restaurant. Didn't book but got a table for the Early Bird menu up to 7pm. Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere and was very busy. Set menu of €25 pp including a bottle of wine is excellent value. I had steak (€5 supplement) which was gorgeous. My partner had chicken. Both our dishes were on the A La Carte menu so really good value. Baileys cheescake was so light and went down a treat. A hidden gem and a good atmosphere in the bar also. Will be back!
Himalaya Tandoori restaurant
Unit 6, Village Centre, West Dublin, Clondalkin, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 22
Reviewed 11th February 2009 ( visited 05th December 2008 )Have eaten here 3-4 times in the past and have also used their take-away service which is 20% cheaper than thier a la carte and tastes exactly the same. Food here is excellent - nicest Chiken Tikka Masala ever. Portions are fairly generous and garlic naan to die for! They also do a carafe of wine which a lot of restaurants don't do. Only problem is the restaurant is very big and can be quite empty making it cold and lacking atmosphere. Had drinks on the house on two visits which was a lovely touch. Please, please pay this restaurant a visit.
The Bay Tree
4 Stanhope Street, Athy, Kildare
Fell across this lovely cosy restaurant at lunch time on a day visit to Athy. Very warm and welcoming staff on a rainy day. Perfectly sized and some tables were already reserved. Most customers were locals and staff obviously knew them by name. However we felt most welcome as first time visitors. Staff naturally friendly, warm and very welcoming. Fantastic variety on the menu. They have the best value lunch time menu deal but even though we opted for the regular menu we had two beautiful lunches of open smoked salmon sandwich with salads, one vegetarian loaf with salads, two mouth watering deserts, tea and a latte for €29. It was just a pity this little gem closed at 5pm.

Decided to pay a visit to the Vermillion based on reviews. It had a nice atmosphere and was not too busy. Very warm welcome by the staff and got a lovely table. Very varied menu and half bottles of wine available which is great as my hubby was not drinking. Waiter was very helpful explaining some of the dishes which were just the right portion size and very tasty. We were given a 20% discount card when leaving and we will definitely be back again. Plenty of parking in the carpark just beside the restaurant which is a big plus!
Thai Garden Restaurant
Church Avenue, Blanchardstown Village, Dublin 15, Blanchardstown, Dublin
Found this Restaurant on Menu Pages and decided to visit as the reviews were so good. Boy were the reviewers right. This little gem of a restaurant is tucked away in Blanchardstown Village and from the outside you would think the place was empty. Well, the place was packed at 8.30pm on the Friday we visited. The waiter we had was really friendly and a bit of a comedian! Food here was great! Was a bit more expensive than we would have thought for a local restaurant but well worth it. The menu is so varied and very hard to choose a dish. A good selection of deserts also. This review was written after our second visit (had to go back) and we werent' disappointed the second time either. A great spot with a great lively atmosphere. Will be back.
Shakira Indian Cuisine
47 Lower Georges Street, South Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
Love Indian food so based on the reviews decided to pay this restaurant a visit. It was an awful rainy night and mabe this was the reason the restaurant was so quiet which was a pity. The music was authentic which I really liked and decor was the same. The waiter was very friendly and service was excellent. Food was piping hot and served very quickly. House wine was very reasonably priced and went down well. Starters and mains were delicious and served on piping hot plates. Two starters, two mains and a bottle of house wine €56 which is excellent. Will definitely pay a visit again. Please visit this lovely little restaurant!

Cafe Kylemore - Liffey Valley
Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Liffey Valley, Dublin
Visit here for breakfast on a regular basis. Always have the Breakfast Feast which is excellent value and includes juice and lovely chunky toast. Staff here are always very friendly and efficient. If you are hungry then you will be more than satisfied with this particular breakfast.
The Lord Lucan Pub
The Finnstown Shopping Centre, Newcastle Rd, Lucan, Dublin
Nice family friendly pub with friendly staff. Kitchen is within eye view which is always good. Good value menu for pub food. Had the burger which was served with plenty of bacon and cheese. Good serving of fries. Girl who served us was particularly chatty and friendly. Was early in the evening so quiet but have called in here later in the evening a couple of times and always busy food wise. Enjoyed.
Captains View, Captains Hill, Leixlip, Kildare
Re-visited Altivos having heard they had changed their Credit Crunch menu and they also have a guy singing on Friday's. Once again I wasn't disappointed. Place was very busy with a good atmosphere. The addition of the singer in the background just goes to prove Alvito's are prepared to go the extra mile to keep their customers happy. Its great to visit good value for money restaurant locally without having to travel to the city centre. I wish other restaurants would introduce an 'all night' credit crunch menu. Well done again Alvito's.
Unit 2 Balloyowen Castle Shopping Centre, West Dublin, Lucan, Dublin
First time here for dinner. Recommended for casual and reasonable food. Was fairly busy as it was a small restaurant which added to atmosphere. Friendly waiter and shown to our table quickly. Only two covering the tables so all considering, service was efficient. Starters were lovely but waiter delivered my husbands main course and took away his empty starter plate at the same time while I was still eating my starter. That was really not good! The waiter said the food is ordered and is cooked quickely but this is no excuse. The waiter was not paying enough attention to his tables. I said I definitely needed a gap between courses and in fairness, the waiter watched us carefully until he felt we were ready. However, this wouldn't put me of re-visiting this very friendly, affordable restaurant.
The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House
Newcastle Road, West Co. Dublin, Lucan, Dublin
Regular visitors to this restaurant and re-visited now that their Friday special is on- dinner plus half bottle of wine each €45 per person. Lovely atmosphere here. An older crowd seem to eat here but we love it. The same staff are in the restaurant for a long time and they are always friendly and genuine. No problem with extra veg etc with no charge. You really feel you are dining out here and its money well spent for a treat!
Da Vincis Restaurant (Leixlip)
Main Street, Leixlip, Kildare
Visited Da Vinci's for dinner. Very busy with good atmosphere. We were seated immediately but nearly sitting on the laps of the couple at our next table so we asked to be moved which was no problem. Tables for two are particularly close to each other but it was quite busy so you couldn;'t hear other peoples conversations. Service was very good and friendly. Starters were a bit on the dear side but pasta main courses were very good value. My husband ordered the Da Vinci's cheesecake which was very over priced and was so small, he was gone in about five bites - not kidding. Lovely restaurant overall and would go back again but do not have desert here as it is way over priced and very poor value for money.
7 Main StreetLucan, Lucan, Dublin
This is lovely relaxing pub to visit. Warm atmosphere, very friendly bar and table staff with regular faces each time. A lovely mix of pub food with a good varied menu. Burgers are huge and very tasty. We ate here for the first time and had a lovely lady who served us at our table. They also have a nice range of wines which are served from a large bottle so you always get a generous glass! Plenty of food if you are really hungry and the pub has been beutifully renovated. Their meats are supplied by a local butcher which is stated on the menu which is great. A lovely spot either for a drink or a a plate of good food!
Pearl Orient Fusion
6-8 Dutch Village Shopping Centre, Clondalkin, Clondalkin, Dublin
Ate here for the first time in January. Very deceiving from the outside but a big surprise in store inside. Plenty of tables on two levels but a pity it was so empty as it lacked atmosphere purely for that reason. Service was very good with friendly staff. Food was very tasty and plenty of it. The take-away service was busy also so a good sign. €140 for four people and we all had starters, mains and deserts plus a bottle of wine so excellent value for money. Give it a visit.
Pattaya Thai and Chinese Restaurant
9th Lock Road, Nangor Road, West Dublin, Clondalkin, Dublin
Ate here for the first time with four female friends. Restaurant had been recommended. Was busy for a Friday night as it is a fairly big restaurant. There was a big family of chinese people eating there which was a good sign. Staff were friendly and service was good. Nothing unusual about the food though, in fact the beef in my dish was very tough and diced pieces were quite large and needed to be cut. I was sorry I didn't opt for chicken. Overall the meal and was fine but don't think enough to bring me back again.
