Back to their best. Dined in The Springfield this evening and it was super. The last visit was sub-par but I'm glad I gave them another chance. A 3 course meal with tea or coffee for €26, how could you go wrong? Everything was great, the breads, soup, seafood cocktail, steaks, sea bass, desserts, all delicious. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing, and I don't believe you could find value for money like it anywhere else locally. Some places would charge €26 for the T-Bone alone. Well worth a visit!

Knightsbrook Hotel
Dublin Road, Trim, Trim, Meath

I attended a wedding at The Knightsbrook Hotel on Dec 29th and dined in their Rococo Restaurant on the 30th. The numbers had increased from the original booking but this wasn't a problem. Extra tables were sorted within minutes and we sat to eat from a very nice menu. Starters ranged from Pork Belly to Crab Couscous. The mains included Monkfish and Hereford Steak. It was very very tasty but just not enough on the plates to satisfy some of the party. They were busy but even so, almost 3 hours for a set 3 course meal is stretching it a bit. I would however return because the Bar Food menu looks quite inviting also.

Spurs Family Restaurant
U42 Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Liffey Valley, Liffey Valley, Dublin

Hadn't eaten here in a while so popped in on the way to the cinema. Boy oh boy have they hiked the prices since the last visit! The combo that I always ordered has jumped to almost €30. Thats expected for a 'fine dining' establishment, not a fast food restaurant. The service was slow, just as well we left nearly 2 hours between the food and the movie. 3 drinks ordered, 2 arrived. The third arrived 10 mins later with the starters. 15 mins between starters and mains, and we had only ordered burgers because of the price increase in our usual choices. I am a VIP member at Spur so I think I'll only visit midweek from now on to avail of the special offers( 2 for 1, bottomless ribs, etc). If the food wasn't so tasty I probably wouldn't go back at all. A hit and miss place.

Stone Haven Restaurant
Mill Street, Maynooth, Maynooth, Kildare

I have eaten here on many occasions and will continue to do so. This is a quaint little restaurant which is always full so booking is important. The staff are friendly, attentive, and professional. I always choose the more obscure dishes like Crocodile, Antelope, Ostrich, or Wild Boar. The Boar was the only one mildly dissapointing. The rest of the family go for steaks, chicken or fish and have always been satisfied. The owner, knows her business and is a great host. Top quality food and excellent service will ensure I keep going back.

RiverBank Restaurant @ The Court Yard Hotel
Main Street, Leixlip, Kildare

I took my family here for my mothers birthday. Lets begin with the positives. The waitress was a pleasant attentive lady, the premises is majestic, end of story! The kitchen seemed to be on a 'go slow'. 2 steaks were ordered, 1 medium, 1 medium rare. 2 steaks arrived, 1 well done, 1 very well done. The portions of Monkfish wouldn't fill a hole in your tooth and was served on the saltiest risotto I have ever tasted. An extra portion of fries was ordered but did not appear on the table. It did however appear on the bill. I did not want to make a fuss and ruin my mothers night so I will vote with my feet and wont be back. It was an overpriced and underwhelming experience. I have been in the Hotel/Pub trade for 15 years and I feel that quality of food and value for money is paramount. The Riverbank fell badly short on both counts.
