I drop in here from time to time for lunch. Very pleasant, lovely decor, excellent service and above all, good food, which is well priced. This used to have a different name - unsure if there are new owners or not, but either way, they're doing a great job!

Independent Pizza Co
28 Drumcondra Rd Lower, Dublin 9, Drumcondra, Dublin

We popped in here for a quick bite to eat last Saturday, before going to the theatre. We arrived at 6pm, and the place was full - obviously a very popular restaurant. My wife had a chicken Caesar salad which was very fresh and tasty. I had a duck pizza which was delicious, albeit a bit too filling! Excellent, friendly service provided, and good value.

Ashford House on the Weir Gastro Pub
Ashford House, Ashford, Wicklow

Myself, my wife, my daughter and son in law dined in The Weir last Friday, en route to Waterford. We arrived at 2:45pm and were promptly seated. We weren't overly hungry and ordered 3 starters and 1 main course between the 4 of us. There was a slight delay before our food arrived. Our food was tasty - I had a crab dish which was lovely. My wife had a salad and my son in law had a chicken dish served with rice. The service was very prompt and friendly.

Horse Shoe
3 Main st, Kenmare, Kenmare, Kerry

I would travel through Kenmare on a regular basis, and have dined in many of the fine establishments that this quaint village has to offer. The Horse Shoe is one of my favourite eating haunts, as it is very cosy, friendly and offers good value for money. On a recent trip to Kerry, we stopped off for a bite to eat. I had the crab which was absolutely delicious - full of flavour and a decent sized portion to boot. My wife had a fillet steak which she thoroughly enjoyed. A bottle of mid priced Cabernet Ssuvignon and 2 coffees rounded off a very nice meal. Well worth visiting if you are in the Kenmare area.

Odells Bistro
49 Sandycove Road, Dublin 4, Sandycove, Dublin

This is our favourite "local" restaurant to where we live, and would eat here approximately once every 2 months, or thereabouts. It is located in Sandycove, across the road from Fitzgerald's pub. Now, it is a cosy restaurant, not very large, but as we are elderly, we prefer somewhat "quieter" restaurants. Food is always top notch, as is the exceptionally friendly service we have always received. This is a true gem, and well worth visiting if in the area.

Juggy's Well Restaurant
3 Glasthule Road, Dublin 4, Sandycove, Dublin

Myself and my wife are both in our early 80's, and regularly have lunch in Juggy's Well, if we are in the area, which would be at least once a fortnight. The food is always very good, very fresh - usually we would have something light, such as soup and a salad, with coffee. Very friendly staff also. Sometimes in can be very busy here, and a bit noisy, but it would not detract from the food.

Guinea Pig
17 Railway Road, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin

Over the years, we have eaten in the Guinea Pig regularly. Lovely setting in the heart of Dalkey village. I had the Calamari to start whilst my wife had the smokies - 2 great dishes, adequate sized portions - just right. For mains, I had the duck, which was crispy and cooked to perfection. Very tasty! My wife had steamed fillet of cod which she thoroughly enjoyed. We had a bottle of mid-priced wine. The Guinea Pig is not cheap, but is very good, and has stood the test of time. Many people are criticizing the prices of Guine Pigs menu, but, you get what you pay for, and the prices here truly reflect the excellent food and service received.

Bombay Pantry Glenageary
Glenageary Shopping Centre, Glenageary, Dublin

Myself and my wife are quite elderly, but love our Indian food, and regularly treat ourselves to a take away from Bombay Pantry. The food is always delicious, full of flavour and not over-priced. Having eaten take away food from other Indian restaurants in the locality, Bombay Pantry is the clear winner.
