Reviewed 28th March 2016 ( visited 26th March 2016 )Dined here Easter Saturday night. Overpriced and under par. The "vegetable " soup tasted like very salty mushroom soup! Zero heating, made worse by the big stone walls and draughty windows. We were numb with the cold. Unbelievable disregard for diners comfort. Could not wait to leave. Diners at the next table had their winter coats and scarves pulled up around their necks the entire time. Luckily our Easter break in Kilkenny was saved with an exquisite dining experience in The Left Bank the following night. and an equally enjoyable dinner in SOL restaurant on Good Friday. We love Kilkenny and visit regularly but will not revisit Petronella's restaurant again.
Forchetta Italian Grill & Restaurant
Crowne Plaza Blanchardstown, Blanchardstown Town Centre, West Dublin, Blanchardstown, Dublin
Booked for 6.30pm 31st December as we were staying overnightin the hotel for the New Years celebrations. Booking was taken and confirmed but I was not made aware that the menues displayed on Menu Pages would not be available. There was a set 4 course dinner only available for 40euros each. We had to abandon the plan to eat in the restaurant and ate in the bar. Food was lovely there, however I think customers should be made aware of similar dining restrictions which may exist before confirming the booking.
Barista's Cafe and Wine Bar
Unit B2, The Forum, Ballymoss Rd, Sandyford, Dublin
We have been here many times, but last couple of years it has gone downhill. Ithis last visit I was served up the worst French Toast ever!. Two slices of thin sliced white pan fried in egg! I could not eat any of it and I was starving. I said I would have a scone instead. Was given a cold, tasteless mess! Something has gone badly wrong at this cafe. Atmosphere is awful. We went there regularly during the recession because food was generally good quality but not any more. Serving up white sliced pan is a big no no in my book. Calling the dish " French Toast" an abomination. This" restaurant" is on its last legs. Great pity. We will not be back.
The Parade, Kilkenny, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny
This was the highlight of our Easter trip to Kilkenny. Walked in purely by accident on Easter Sunday night and what a find! A bit of a stretch for our budget but was well worth it. Although we had no reservation we were seated promptly. Fab venue, comfortable, warm, nice decor, lovely staff and to top it all most delicious food we have eaten in a long time. Who'd have thought aubergine could taste so devine! Will be back. Compliments to all involved.
Cafe Sol Bistro

Lovely waitress agreed to let us use online voucher despite not being within date restrictions. Restaurant was nicely decorated for Christmas , comfortable and relaxing. Waitress was really attentive and pleasant. House wine was delicious as was the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience & with a dearth of good eateries in Dublin 12 this is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Will definitely return even without a voucher !!
Wrights Anglers Rest
Strawberry Beds, West Dublin, Dublin 20, Chapelizod, Dublin
Have been here over many years ots of times for a drink or dinner, day or night and love it . Always an oasis of calm despite the many diners, Beautiful authenticity in decor. Atmosphere so homely & natural. Log fires ,wood burning outdoor firepit , traditional understated musicians good food all hard to beat. Downside for me is the lack of choice for vegetarians. Particularly on this occasion as I asked would the chef do basic veggie pasta & was very disappointed to be informed there was only had macaroni pasta (which I dislike).Do restaurants not stock several pasta types in the cupboard? Also was puzzled about this as a child nearby had spaghetti?? In fairness this request was no problem on a previous visit when I got a delicious vegetable pasta so was looking forward to the same again on latest visit so this added to the disappointment. Please give us veggies at least one alternative ( but not SALAD!)! Hungry Veggie!
The Old Orchard Inn
76 Butterfield Avenue, Rathfarnham, Rathfarnham, Dublin
I am a long time customer of this pub & have stopped going there, on and off over last couple of years for several reasons. Firstly I must state the serving staff are brilliant. The pub went from welcoming long term regulars from the area, to reserving seating areas at weekends leaving regulars without seats unless booked in advance. So stopped going in at night. Then there was the time I was told I could only have a sandwich WITH ham as they are brought in pre made. CRAZY. I am vegetarian. Then recently at lunch time I was informed nothing vegetarian available until after 5pm.! I had to leave. I had breakfast few weeks ago and got worst scrambled egg ever and tea is extra so works out a pricey breakfast. Stopped going in morning times! Today I went in with my daughter to have a sandwich (HAMLESS option has been put back on menu!)...but was told NO sandwiches were being made today at all because they might be too busy with the school break up !! It was NOT in the least busy even the outside sunny area & it was a very sunny day I I asked the girl serving us was it busy inside she told us it wasnt. I had to have soup which is not a top choice for me. Supposed to be served with home made treacle or guinness bread but got sliced bread which was bit hard. At this point I cut my losses ate what I could, left and will not go back.. Over the years I have given The Orchard yet another try but not any more. The Orchard does not put the customer first... making a sandwich would take 5 minutes..not long ... to ensure happy customers ! I give up.
46 Manor Street, North Dublin , Stoneybatter, Dublin
SOUL LESS sliced pan brown bread...flat, bland, dry omelette, mediocre cappucino .Made a special effort to try out this cafe in my search for a nice Sunday brunch venue & after reading good reviews but even with my rock bottom priced voucher deal I left utterly disappointed. Will never go back.

KC Peaches Cafe Dame St
54 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
First visit using a voucher. top quality service and food , excellent value. Could not finish all food as voucher allowance was way too much food in one sitting! Wine was lovely and reasonably priced.
Toscana City Centre
3 Cork Hill, Dame Street (opposite Dublin Castle), Dublin City Centre, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin
Was too busy for staff to give adequate attention to customers. Vegetarian lasagne was like a block of lukewarm cabbage! No other vegetables ..the pasta was scarce, thin, cold! Dessert was lovely as was the glass of house wine..but this was the worst lasagne I ever had. Complaint I made was met with silence. Chips were bland reheats. will ever never return to this restaurant.
