I went for an early sitting family meal here on saturday night. it is a little bit awkward with a buggy for a young child but otherwise the experience was very excellent. I had lamb kebabs to start and old style chicken curry for main with the dark choclate/banana/ peanut desert. All were absiolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

I hadn't been to this great restaurant in a while but was glad to see the standards hadn't dropped. Both service and food still top quality. I particularly recommend the duck starter.

The Bakehouse Bakery & Eatery
6 Bachelors Walk, City Centre South, Dublin

I had lunch at the Bakehouse Express in the CHQ building and thought it was very good. I had the baked potatoe and bacon - which came with a lovely fresh salad and a number of dressings. recommend for a cold winters day!

I had salmon to start which was very good and rib eye for main which was fine. Staff were really nice and overall enjoyable evening.

Enjoyed a nice meal here with my wife on Sunday evening, restaurant was quiet but was filling up later. We had calamari to start which was cooked beautifully, I had chicken for main course which had generous helping of a very nice sauce. I recommend the chips as a side order too. Overall very nice.

Saison
21 Kildare Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

3 of us went for a late dinner here on Friday. Atmosphere was good and food was excellent. I had the scallops to start and the assiette of pork for mains and both were delicious. Service in general was good though we had a problem with bill which detracted a bit but otheriwse would recommend.

Milano (Grand Canal Harbour)
Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin

Myself and my wife went for a pre theatre bite here on Thursday evening. The place was full with a good crowd and service was pleasant. We both had pizzas, Il Padrino Romano for me. They were tastey , thin and very large ( a little too large as they were bigger than the plates !) but not a bad complaint. The one real negative was the red wine which was not cheap but was not nice at all.

profile_review

Il Caffe di Napoli
41 Westland Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Enjoyed a very nice lunch here with 2 work colleagues. The restaraunt was quite busy but has plenty of room with additional seating down stairs. layout is nice and service was good. 2 of us had pizzas which were well made and the other the special lasagne which was enjoyed also. Some complementary olives and pesto pizza slices before hand was a nice touch also. Decent value and would recommend.

The Wine Bar at Dublin Wine Rooms
Custom House Square, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin

Myself and my wife were first time visitors to the Wine bar at Dublin Wine rooms on Saturday. We were using a voucher which meant that the evening was very good value. My wife had a salmon starter which was very generous and I had Fig salad which was really tasty. We both had the steak for main course which came with an unusual sliced baked potato which was nice. Staff were excellent and attentive throughout. Overall I would recommend this place as a very fun wine bar with decent food (music was excellent !) rather than formal dining or special occasion venue.

profile_review

Farmer Browns
25a Bath Avenue, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Myself and a work colleague found this place during the summer for lunch and have returned a number of times since. It is small but comfortable and is usually quite busy at peak times. Service has been hit and miss but last tiem we went it was spot on with the waitress turning on the heating for us outside without having to be asked. The food is very high quality and good value - typically €7 for a generous lunch sandwich - we particularly enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich and chicken sandwiches.

Darwins
80 Aungier Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Myself an my wife made our first visit to darwins on Friday evening to avail of a deal rush voucher. We were pleasantly surprised with the restaurant which has great decor and a nice atmosphere. The service was good overall though we did have to ask for water a couple of times for which they were apologetic. Darwins specialises and steaks and they duly delivered with both my wifes fillet steak and my dry aged hereford steak both cooked perfectly with great flavour. The menu did look pricey overall but worth a visit.

The Exchange Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
The Westin Dublin, At College Green, Westmoreland Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Having not been in a while myself and my wife returned to the Excahnge on Saturday evening and wee glad to find that it was as good as we had remembered. The restaurant was a little quiet which is a pity since it is so good but the service was great and matched the superb qulaity of the food. My only minor annoyance was that teh pork belly starter was not available but the pea/mint soup was a good stand in. Both our steaks were cooked beautifuly as ordered and the little touches such as pre meal bread and rhubarb sorbet palette cleanser between courses were excellent really added to a great meal. Highly recommend.

Chi Asian Restaurant
9 Georges Avenue, Blackrock, Dublin

Myself and my wife went to Chi on Friday evening. The restaurant has lovely decor and the staff are great, very friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We both had Tom Yum Gung soup to start which had a good flavour though a little light on prawns/veg. I had a green curry with beef and my wife had black bean beef which were both delicious. Overall a very enjoyable evening.

Shanahan’s on the Green
119 St. Stephens Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

I went here with my wife for Valentines night and it certainly didn't disappoint. Service is first class from the moment you enter and the decor and music match the fine dining experience. We were firstly served freshly baked bread and muffins which you msut avoid the temptation to devour completely to savour themeal ahead. My wife ordered from the table d'hote menu which is tremendous value. She had a caesar saladand petit filet steak and both were excellent. The cookies and cream cheesecake also was superb. I went for the a la carte and had sauteed garlic shrimp to start which were juicy and delicious and also a petit filet which was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. We also ordered a "small" side of fries which was more than enough for 2 and had crispy onion strings also. Again all were perfectly cooked. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for any special occassion.

Mak at D6
Fields Terrace, Charleston Rd, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

Went for a meal at mak using a menupages voucher on Sunday evening. The restaurant was busy and is pleasnatly laid out. We did get a table by the door which was drafty for me which was a bit annoying at first. Staff were very pleasant though very busy so service was a bit slow. The food was worth the wait however , the dim sum was really nice - we had crab stuffed peppers and ribs and for mains we had beef in black bean sauce and beef in ginger and scallion sauce. All were really nice and teh special fried rice and singapore noodles were also excellent. The wine although limited in choice by the glass was also nice.

Citron @ Fitzwilliam Hotel
The Fitzwilliam Hotel, St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Myself and my wife visited here on saturday evening using a menupages voucher. The food as always was really inventive and beautifully presented. The amuse bouche was delicate but full of flavour.I had the mackeral to start which had an amazing ornage zest sauce, be warned though that this dish is quite lightly cooked fish so might not be to all tastes . My wife had the duck starter which was full of flavour and really nice. I went for the study of beef for main course and it was a wonderful experience with brilliant textures and taste. My wife went for teh roast crackling pig which was also beautifully executed. the deserts continued the theme of excellent presentation and the starwberry and basil soup was a highlight.

Utsav
Number 2, The Rear, Lower Kilmacud Road, Stillorgan, Dublin

I visited here with my wife on a Saturday. My wife had the rack of lamb to start which was excellent. I had the tandoori smoked chicken breast which was really succulent and tasty. For mains my wife had the chicken chettinad which was very hot - so if spicey is your thing this is the dish for you ! I had the duck pepper masala which was gorgeous and again perfectly done. Overall really enjoyable.

I went for dinner here on Sunday with my wife using a menupages deal. The restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. We both had teh chicken and crab wontons to start which were very nice and rib of beef steaks for main which were really delicious as was the veg. Yo Thai (Mount Merrion)
Kielys Of Mount Merrion, Deerpark Road, South Co. Dublin, Mount Merrion, Dublin

Myself and my wife tried Yo Thai out using a menupages voucher. The setting is pleasant if dated. I had the fish cakes to start which weren't great - they were rubbery and overcooked I think. I had the Duck Kee mao for mains and while the sauce and veg was tastey the duck could have been crispier for my taste. My wife had the Tom Yum Goong soup to start which was much better and her main course of chilli basil beef was also good. Service was also ok but overall nothing special.

profile_review

Gotham South
4 Kilmacud Road Lower, Stillorgan, Dublin

Went for a meal with 4 friends on Sunday night. Restaurant is nice and staff were very friendly and attentive but I was disappointed by the food. I had the calzone pizza which was mainly goats cheese and my fiance had another pizza which she also wasn't blown away by. The others seemed to fair better with burgers but overall a bit disappointing.

profile_review

Rustic Stone
South George's Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Went for a meal here on a Monday evening with work colleagues. The restaurant itself is ok and I was worried as we were sitting by the kitchen and could see and hear the gritty reality of the kitchen! The meal itself was very well received and every course was accompanied by sauces of subtle flavours. I would recommend for this sort of occassion.

profile_review

Bella Cuba Restaurant
11 Ballsbridge Terrace, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Went here using a meupages voucher. The resteraunt is nice but was very quiet, only us and one ther couple. Starter platter was nice but was disappointing to have to have a sharing platter for main course also. A la carte menu did look good. Food portions were small for 2 and beef was tough. Chicken was fine. Deserts weren't good. Mojito cocktail was quite gd and better than daqauiri. A bit disappointing overall.

The Italian Connection
95 Talbot Street, City Centre North, Dublin

Got a present of a menupages voucher and were pleasantly surprised with this place. The restaurant is small but cosy. Food was really nice and reasonably priced. Portions were very generous. My chicken in spicey tomatoe sauce starter was particularly good as was the steak with mushroom and cream sauce. Worth a visit.

Citron @ Fitzwilliam Hotel
The Fitzwilliam Hotel, St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This was our 2nd visit to Citron and it was as good this time as before. The staff are really nice and very welcomimg. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and the food is very good and very reasonable for the quality. I had the steak and my boyfriend had the duck, both were excellent. the desserts were also really nice, we had the chocolate mousse and the apple trio. We will definitely be back.

ely gastro bar
Grand Canal Square, (Next to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre), Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin

I visited Ely with some work colleagues and guests for lunch. The atmosphere and seating made it perfect for entertaining. There are a number of seating options suitable for different sizes of parties and the round table we were given in the corner was private but not too excluded for our table of 5. Food is a always excellent though the menu is limited and does not change too often. Most of us had the fish and chips which was well presented with lovely pea puree. There was some problem with the volume of the music temporarily which was slightly annoying but otherwise a good venue for work lunches.

profile_review

The Counter Suffolk Street
20 Suffolk Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I went to the counter burger for lunch with friends. We all went for the lunch special which was really good value. The burger and chips were very good, the staff were very pleasant too. I would recommend for lunch.

profile_review

The Wild Boar
Stepaside Village, Dublin 18, Stepaside, Dublin

Went to the wild boar with a friend for the 17 euro menu, however the choice was very limited. We opted to go for the separate dishes, my friend had the fish of the day and I had the burger. The burger was excellent and nicely presented and so was the fish. They were also good value. I would recommend for casual dining and will go back.

profile_review

Scotts Bar and Courtyard Restaurant @ Scotts Hotel
Town Centre, Killarney, Kerry

I stayed in Scotts with friend, the hotel rooms were lovely, really spacious. The package included dinner, which was 3 courses, I had the soup which was very good. I then had the beef which was really well done, which I really like, but it was too dry for the rest of my party, 2 friends had salmon, which was also a little dry, there was a good selection of vegetables and mashed potato and chips. one friend had the steak which she said was good and cooked to her request of medium. Service was not great, it was difficult to get water and 2 of us were told that the dessert we had ordered at the beginning was gone, then we were told it was a mistake that it was there, the dessert was good it was fruit crumble with custard. we felt that they were trying to clear the restaurant. Over all the hotel was very good value and I would definitely stay there again and recommend it for location, rooms and value,

profile_review

Robertino's Italian Restaurant
9 High Street Killarney, Killarney, Kerry

Went for dinner with friends, restaurant was nice, I had the goats cheese and beetroot to start and there was not much flavour to it, I have had a lot better, and it was quite a small portion, 2 of my friends had the clams which they said were very good and the chorizo starter was very good as I tasted this. I had the lasagne which was ok, my friends had spaghetti with sea food, which they enjoyed and one had the lobster pasta, which she said was really good. One friend had the pizza which did not look good. I think it is a little over priced for what it is.

profile_review

Assaggio Restaurant @ The Westgrove Hotel
Westgrove Hotel, Abbeylands, Clane, Naas , Clane, Kildare

Myself and my girlfireind had a meal here when we stayed in the hotel. The hotel has 2 restaurants and the other looked great but had a more limited menu despite the higher price tag so we opted for this one. Chicken wings for starters were really good and we would recommend. I had a curry whih was good and my partner had a burger which she enjoyed. The restaurant was busy with families and service was a bit hit and miss but it was good value.

profile_review

Il Segreto
13a/b Merrion Row, City Centre South, Dublin

Went to Il Segreto with 4 friends on a girls night out. Food was good, I had the soup and steak, which was good. We had a few bottles of wine which made the meal quite expensive, and took a little away from the over all enjoyment, however I would go back again and would recommend it as a venue, the bar and live entertainment was very good and it was nice to be able to stay in one location for the night. My friends all said they enjoyed their meals and would go back .

profile_review

Luigi Malones Restaurant
5/6 Cecilia Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I went to Luigi's with 3 friends on a Saturday night. We had a pitcher of margharitas to start which was tasty but not very strong. The large chicken wings we shared for appetisers was excellent and I would highly recommend. Between us we had main courses of pizza - very good, sirloin steak - decent, fillet steak decent and fajitas - good. Overall would recommend the chicken wngs and pizza for reasonably priced tasty food. Service was ok though we did have to ask couple of different staff for water.

The Exchange Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
The Westin Dublin, At College Green, Westmoreland Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Myself and my wife availed of a menupages deal to eat here on Saturday night. The staff were friendly and the service very good. I went for the crab cakes to start whih were good but would recommend the fish plate starter which was excellent in particular the buttered prawns. We both had steaks for main course which were done perfectly and tasted great. Deserts and wine also did not disappoint. Highly recommend.

Mao Restaurant (Chatham Row)
2-3 Chatham Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Myself and my partner had not been to Mao in quite a while but were tempted by the 2 main courses for the price of one offer. We had prawn crackers to share to start which were good. The bottle wine was good value at Eur13. My partner had lime chilli beef and I had the bang bang chicken both of which were very good. Service was fine and overall was great value for the price. A good place for a quick tastey meal.

The Cellar Restaurant
The Merrion Hotel, Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Two of us went for dinner here on a Saturday night. Evening started badly as they had lost our reservation and took some time to work out the error and get us a table despite the resteraunt being very quiet. Restaurant is nice but service was disappointing Quality of food was good though a little over priced.

profile_review

The Boxty House
20-21 Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Brought 7 visitors from Poland and Czech Republic to gallaghers as they were looking for a very Irish meal and it was close to their hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by the food as everyone seemed to enjoy the various traditional offerings though the stew was least favourite. The service was excellent and the atmosphere perfect for this type of entertaining.

profile_review

ECO Douglas Restaurant
1/2 Eastville, Douglas Village, Douglas, Cork

Went to Eco with a group of 10 people, restaurant was pleasant with a nice atmosphere. Staff seemed under pressure though and they had to apologise as the white wine we ordered wasnt chilled. I had the mushroom soup for starters which was excellent served with good selection of breads. My girlfriend had prawns to start which was also very good. For main course I had special curry with rice and chips. The portions for all main courses were massive which actually made finishing for anyone a struggle. Banoffi for desert was good (huge portions again!) Overall a fine place to eat for a casual meal- especially if you're famished !

profile_review

Greenes Restaurant @ Hotel Isaacs
48 MacCurtain Street, By the Waterfall, Cobbled Courtyard Close, Cork City, Cork

This was my 2nd time eating at Greenes, we had the early bird menu both times. The 1st time I could not fault the restaurant, it was extremely good hence why we booked again. This time I was disappointed. The food was not as good quality as the previous visit, I had a tartlet to start which was fine, and the rib eye steak, which was not great quality. it was disappointing as the time before I had such a good experience.

profile_review

Siam Thai (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

Went for a last minute meal with another couple on Friday evening. As always the service was very good and very efficient despite the restaurant being busy. My wife had Tom Yum soup, the 3 flavoured duck and I had the Tom Kha soup and also the 3 flavoured duck all of which was great. Our friends also enjoyed their meals - crispy squid rings followed by Sinagapore noodles and duck spring rolls with chicken with chillies and basil. Nothing was left on the plates.

The Counter Dundrum
Pembroke District, (adjacent to the Mill Pond at Town Square), Dundrum, Dublin

Derfinitely the place to eat if you're shopping in Dundrum TC. The burgers are superb. It can be busy quite often (which tells its own story) but they seem to turn the tables over reasonably quickly so worth the wait.

profile_review
