Good lunch places are very poor in Bray. I mean: there is a lot of choice to go but the food isn't that great. So we are trying to go to places we haven't been, like Dockyard No. 8. First impression was: Pretty expensive 8 euro for a sandwich. I took the open honey roast ham ciabatta: WAUW! That was amazing. It was lots and delicious. Nice warm pulled ham not too much dressing, just perfect. Served with some salad and coleslaw. This was definitly the best sandwich I had in Bray. I couldn't finish it, but I didn't have to ask to take it home. The waitress offered me to wrap it to take away. I am coming back again and taste one of the other sandwiches. The only thing I can critisize is: the service was a bit slow. But any I recommend this to everybody. Even for kids!

Nice welcome. Wasn't busy so we could choose our table. Great to see the aquarium with the lobsters at the entrance. The choice for fish and meet dishes was well balanced, so for everybody is something there. We had as starter the mussels in white wine sauce and crab claws with shrimps. Really nice. Portions weren't too big, just enough. Then the main,I had lamb rack with asparagus and my boyfriend a steak. Perfectly cooked. Cooked like ordered medium lamb and a well-done steak. We ordered one dessert and the waiter asked if we want a second spoon. Of course we wanted :) Good service, good food, portion size is perfect and good value. We are coming back here.

Da Mimmo Restaurant
148A North Strand Road, City Centre North, Dublin

With all the good reviews I had high expectations, but to be honest I was a bit disappointed. It was very busy and the restaurant is very small. The tables were very close to each other and we had to pass them side ways to get to our seats. I had the feeling that we were sitting at the table with the couple beside us. I had the tomato bruchetta to start with. Lovely dish with a lot of flavour. Main dish was penne with prawns and pesto. It was very oily and the prawns were too sweet. I didn't enjoy it. My partner had a pizza, which was a bit sloppy. Overall it wasnt a great experience. Service good, food ok, and atmosphere/entourage poor.

Girl & the Goose
1st Floor, 10 Merrion Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Menu looked impressive and I expected a lot. We had a reservation for 7 pm on a saturday evening. You would say it is packed at that time, but there was only one other couple. During the evening the came only 2 other couples in.... Any way, maybe that was our advantage, because the service was great. We ordered a starter and main. We got a little treat (spinach soup) from the house while we were waiting. I got scallops with cauliflower and hazelnuts to begin with. The plate looked really amazing, but the taste was ok. The scallops tasted and smelled really fishy, but the combination with the nut was good. As main I had lamb, with potato in a dough. The lamb and the jus were tasteless and the meat was really fattening. The potato on the side was very dry. So the presentation of the food is very nice but the taste didnt meet my expectations at all.

Fade Street Social - The Restaurant
Drury Street , City Centre South, Dublin

Valentine's day. First time that we went to Fade Street Social. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I didn't expect that the restaurant was that big. It was pretty busy, but it was not noisy. Service was good. They gave an explanation of the menu and the specials. They didn't had a the special cuts from the board so we just got something from the menu. I had poached trout. The presentation was fabulous, taste was good but maybe a bit too much as a starter. We had pork and fillet of beef as main. Again presentation was really good, but I was a bit disappointed. Either the beef as the pork were very very dry. I definitely would go back there, but probably to the bar for a drink and some nibbles.

La Maison
15 Castle Market Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

First the menu. It's different then other restaurant, what I really like. Big choice of fish, but also for non-fish eaters there was choice of meat. As starter we, my partner and I, had both the prawn bisque. It was really well presented and they finished the plated at the table. Great. Although in my opinion it was to sweet. As main I had the Monkfish. Good fish, well prepared, but also in this dish the braised vegetable were too sweet. The portion sizes are perfect and is completed. No need to order any side dishes. The service is perfect. To start with we got bread with home made pesto. Great pesto. When we finished the plate, we got a new plate with bread and pesto. After our starter we got an little appetizer from the house and the bill came with home made white and dark chocolate. Overall good food, great athmosphere and an excellent service.
