I had the baked cod which was really yummy and the potatoes and vegetables were full of flavours. My hubby had the steak, which was nice too. Pleasant atmosphere, a bit pricey but nice for a special occasion. The service was good but not top class, had to pour our own wine/water and such (which I don't mind at all) but I did feel that it would be nice to be offered top ups, when you're paying a good chunk for the experience. That said, we'll be back and I'm sure we'll enjoy it again.

Our group dined on the Early Bird offering. While we thought that the menu was a little restricted, we really enjoyed the starters and our selection of Cod, Steak and Burger mains. The venue is attractive and the staff were charming. Overall - a good experienced - and we will return

Hartleys was booked out, and wanted a bit of fine dining, so gave f&b's a shot. The building looks good from the outside, but we walked in through a bar/ coffee prep area that felt like being led in through the kitchens. The space was good, but the tables and chairs felt like eating in a cafe. There were too many empty tables on pay day night. We were attended to quickly, and we're eating s mains in less than 15 minutes. Food was fine, but not wow. Menu was alright, but didn't fancy any of the desert. Done, dusted and leaving in less than 40 minutes. Prices were fine too. Went up to Dalkey to finish out the night when we should have been enticed to stay and spend our money. In all this place works as a daytime cafe. At night they would be onto a winner if they had a sea change for evening fare. I suggest that they (a) use the nice entrance they already have (b) create a night time atmosphere through better mood lighting (c) pull down some blinds to block view to the road and create cosiness (d) put linen and tea nice candles on the tables (e) get a guy on a classical guitar (f) get evening dining staff and attitude. In essence, create a sense of theatre which is currently absent. Given the deep pockets of the neighbourhood ( I'm a local) this place is screaming out for a good restaurant not just a'fine' one. I really hope that's what they aim for. I really hope they get it right, because as it stands I won't be back st might. I'm not against using it as the cafe it is.

As I'm writing this review - I notice that the opening hours are 9.00 - 9.00 - so perhaps the main focus is the day time trade. We had a lovely meal - at 8.30......the staff were very attentive - although they shared that they had a hectic day - with children and icecream - and one or two of them looked a bit tired. Food excellent -and up to the standard of city centre. Menu was somewhat limited and they had run out of the special by the time we arrive at 8.30. I had a delicious fried hake and my husband had a very good steak.....we were very happy with our food - and will come back here again - possibly for lunch rather than dinner.

Went here for a mid week dinner. The restaurant is nice and bright and quite busy for mid week. Friendly and attentive servers. All food was excellent, particularly the seared tuna starter.

Lovely lunch here last Friday afternoon. We made a booking but it wasn’t necessary. Lunch menu has the perfect choice in my opinion, lots of salads, fish risotto and meat options. Caprese salad starter was delicious, really good quality mozzarella, the others loved their prawn cocktails. Sea bream main went down particularly well. Nice touch with the choice of homemade breads at the start of the meal too. The lemon curd dessert was so so tasty and another highlight! €140 for four people (4 starters, 4 mains, 2 desserts, 2 coffees, 1 glass wine and 1 bottle of water), so its not the cheapest but the food and service is good. The location is great and the dining room is beautiful and airy with lovely views out the fountain and across Dublin Bay, they have really done a good job at converting the old tea rooms. I’d love to try it for dinner.

My wife surprised me for a very special birthday by booking a table for our group of five and from front of house right through the whole team the customer experience was truly superb. In addition, the food was excellent, wine eclectic and the best value for money in Ireland. What can I say - the most wonderful culinary evening ever which was endorsed by our guests who came from the UK and Poland. It is with eateries like Fallon & Byrne that will continue to fuel the large number of overseas vistors not that the cruise-liners are berthing in Dun Laoire. Congratulations for making my birthday unique.

Ambiance could be much improved - tables bare of any cloths and too many tables for the space. One starter was very poor but the mains were good. Service very pleasant.

Will not be rushing back to fallon and Byrne when we arrived no one to greet us and take our coats had to hang them ourselves we walked down by the bar before we were asked had we a booking. Our starter of chicken and black pudding terrine was. Nice however when our main course of pan fried cod arrived it was cold and mine was radish in the middle when we called service they just took them back to the kitchen. No apology just flashed under a grill plates were hotter than cod on return. Waiter asked did I want another glass of wine. Never mentioned that it was complimentary only noticed that when bill arrived my friends cappachino arrived cold had to send back for a hot one overall I feel the dinner menu far too short!! No specials. ! Wine per glass 8.50. Is too expensive After paying our bill when leaving staff seemed to look the other way no one to get us our coats or say good night. Extremely disappointed with this restaurant !
