I went here to meet a friend for coffee and cake but was told by the owner in a shockingly rude way that it was lunch only no coffee. He literally snatched the menu from me And threw it in a table. I told him there was no need to be so rude and he told me to shag off somewhere else to get a coffee. i can't see how they are still in business of that's how they treat their prospective customers. I wouldn't mind but the place was empty and it was well before lunch time. Won't be going back again.

Awful. The owner serving us stood beside us and tried to take our coffees while we were still drinking them. Took the saucers and came back and waited for the our. It was half an hour away from closing time. We purchased some food as well. Were told to go. As we put on our coats he began to pull the chairs and tables away and make angry remarks that were presumably directed towards us. He knocked some of our items on to the floor and swept around them. We used to go there frequently because it was a handy location but the food is only ok and there are numerous cafes in the area. Maybe this cafe is a hobby - they can't need the money if they can afford to treat paying customers in this manner.

I recently met a colleague for lunch here. The atmosphere seemed quite pleasant and the surroundings made it very inviting. The cafe is set in a beautiful Georgian building on Nth .Gt. George's St, most of which are now residential. I was with my husband and baby so we chose a table in the corner. After receiving our coffee and tea, we were abruptly removed from our tables from whom we presume to be the owner of the cafe. We were reseated at a table in the middle of the cafe for some unknown reason. The entire cafe was empty! We decided to stay, as we had no alternative location for the meet up and so my colleague had to put up with passing customers brushing past her coat as we had barely enough room to sit together at the new table. At one point, a pot of tea started spilling out its contents directly behind her as it was precariously placed on a tilted glass bar. I will not be returning to this cafe and I will be advising my acquaintances of the same.

This is a marvellous place for private parties! The cafe has a great atmosphere, the old Georgian style makes it really cosy to stay in, chat and enjoy time with friends; the ancient Dionysus-like sculpture in the garden enhances the mood for evening wine drinking :) And the service is the first class!

I went to Cafe Cobalt for lunch recently with my girlfriend who works in the area. It is situated in a nice Georgian building on North Great Georges Street, and they have done a wonderful job integrating the old with the new in the interior design. The service was prompt and friendly. I had a soup and sandwich and my better half had just the soup. The food was good, although not overly substantial. All in all I would recommend Cafe Cobalt for a nice casual lunch in town.

The Cobalt Cafe is situated in a largely residential street and within a historic Georgian building that is in pristine condition, making the atmosphere a joy. The food is simple and delicious at this family-run lunchtime cafe. Their specials are usually excellent value, from chicken or bean curries to other hot dishes, soups, and sandwiches. Fresh, simple, and very tastey. Open only for lunch.

This is a great location but a little hard to find. The decor is unusual - modern furniture in a Georgian building with a few antiques throw in. The staff are very friendly and there was a good buzz about the place. The food was average but well presented. The coffee was poor but that is something that could easily be sorted.

I was curious about this place for a long time eventually got to visit The entrance I think makes it look like a private club, but I head about so in we went. Tomato basil soup was well seasoned and hot. The chicken salad sandwich was substantial and fresh. Bread was excellent. The old Georgian house lends character and charm to the meal. this place is a keeper. but it wasn't quite. The jewellery for sale in the place gave it another unique twist. But get there early for lunch because its very busy! Would recommend. Priced right too.

I eat here quite often as I work nearby. It's in a beautiful building with a great bustling atmosphere. The food is simple but delishious with big portions. Mostly soups, sandwiches and cakes. The service can be slow but the staff are charming and so long as you give yourself plenty of time, it's great for lunch.

This was my first visit to the cafe as a cafe. I have been in this place for theatre and shows over the years. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Had soup and sandwich combo. Tomato basil soup was well seasoned and hot. Not a lot of salt thank God. The chicken salad sandwich was substantial and fresh. Bread was excellent. I love the setting as a theatre and as a restaurant. The old Georgian house lends character and charm to the meal. this place is a keeper. Would recommend. Priced right too. The combo was €7.80.

A Quirky little place that you wouldn't find unless you were told about it! The food was almost outshined by the uniqueness of the cafe, but it wasn't quite. The jewellery for sale in the place gave it another unique twist. But get there early for lunch because it is often very busy!

Fabulous place, truly unique, with restaurant, bar and a great venue for plays. Going back here on Saturday night for a play. Was at a friend's 30th Birthday Party here recently and it was brilliant. It has the feeling of an old Parisian Cafe and at night it has fabulous plays and cabaret acts on. Enjoyed listening to Camile O'Sullivan's singing here on many occasions. If you are looking for somewhere different in the heart of Dublin, this place is it.
