Rathsallagh House Golf & Country Club is regarded as one of Wicklow’s finest eating establishments and has multiple awards to support that view, including the Gold Medal Award for Country House of the Year 2007 & 2008. Best Restaurant in Leinster 2007 ( Food & Wine Magazine ) Irish Breakfast Awards a record 4 times, and the AA Five Diamond Award for Guest Accommodation . Under the direction of head chef John Kostuik, and in stunning surroundings that enhance the experience, the menus change regularly and are based on the finest local and seasonal produce, much of it from Rathsallagh’s own gardens. The cooking style is described as Country House at its best with modern French and Pacific rim influences. Typical of this approach is roast rack of Wicklow Lamb in summer served with warm potato salad and a red wine jus, while Rathsallagh’s signature dishes include pan seared foie gras with damson compote on home made ginger bread and pan seared cod with succotash and tarragon buerre blanc. The menu typically consists of a Chef’s complimentary amuse followed by up to 6 choices of starter, followed by sorbets or soup and main courses with fish and vegetarian options according to what comes in fresh from Duncannon on the Wexford coast every day. The desert menu also changes regularly and is supported by an extensive selection of Irish and continental cheeses from the cheese trolley, followed by “petit fours” tea and coffee served after dinner by the fire in the drawing room. The Rathsallagh House Restaurant is open to non residents from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm daily April to 31st October . It opens for Sunday lunch and mid week non resident lunch and dinner from the 1st November to the 1st April. A La Carte Sunday to Friday inclusive. Set €65 multiple choice menu Saturdays. Reservations are essential. Closed to residents only Christmas day. On Sundays Rathsallagh Golf Club House puts on a full traditional Sunday Rib roast buffet. I have to balance my previous post with a bad review on Fri 28th. Service was very slow, food just about passable. I guess someone took their eye off the ball.
