Come Dine at the Avon. Jumpstart your weekend with a wholesome breakfast, enjoy a hearty lunch with a group of pals or kick back with dinner and drinks overlooking the lake in the evenings. We focus on traditional Irish food and keep things local and seasonal. At Christmas, we run Market Stalls and during the Summer, we have a permanent ice-cream station. Our renowned pizza oven sizzles all-year long though and we love to talk about bespoke catering options, including BBQs and delicious buffets for large group bookings.

We had a meal in the resturant. Our waitress told us about 'steak night', which was only €50 for two and included a bottle of wine. The food was fantastic and it was amazing value for money. The staff were so friendly and created a really warm, welcoming atmosphere. I would certainly be returning and would recommend eating here.

We ate in the bar area. Rib eye for the hubbie & Bacon & cheese burger for me. Both were tasty with big, chunky chips and side salad. Very tasty, good service. Thanks...

Great views. Starters and desert was a joke. Cut up breakfast sausages in some sort of dressing, supposed to be an hors d and sliced boiled egg with nothing on it as well as beetroot out of a jar! Yuk! Desert was sherry trifle with no sherry evident and orange cheesecake with little flavour. Mains were traditional roast dinners which were edible not like the rest of the meal.

The lovely main restaurant was closed for November, and temporary room adjacent to bar was used. We were the only diners, and a la carte food was good. Menu choice was limited, and deserts were large but ordinary. The bar and bar food seemed very popular.

Staff were very friendly, the food was beautiful! I'd recommend Il Lago, the chef is doing a great job. Portion sizes were a bit too big for us to finish, but enjoyed every mouthful that I could eat! Thanks for a lovely evenings dining to all concerned!

restaurant was busy with parties while we were there, tables for two felt jammed against the wall. Food was lovely, service was a little too intrusive, plates removed very quickly and next course served almost immediately, had our server and the host over twice to check if meal was ok, probably due to the large groups eating nearby. Good value, would eat here again.

We ate here Saturday night. One of the best things about this restaurant is the view over Blessington Lakes. The food was good and great value at €24.95 for two courses, €29.95 for three courses, including amuse bouche, bread, sorbet between courses. A good variety of options for meat eaters only one pasta choice for vegetarians. Vegetables are provided with your meal for no extra charge. For starter we had tempura prawns which were pleasant. Mains, Sea Bass - huge portion, served on risotto and with a side of vegetables. The other main course was a vegetarian canneloni, it was okay - a very large portion, too large but the sauce was very good as were the mushrooms it was served with. A side salad came too. Ice cream for dessert, there was a good selection of other desserts to choose from. Coffee was really good. Two glasses of wine and the bill was a little over €60 - not bad for all of that!
Restaurant response:
Thank you very much for your comments.

I 've eaten here a couple of times and it's not too bad, portions are decent so you'll be full. One thing i did have a gripe about was the duck liver pate,it was served with a piece of what was basically cold toast, not nice crispy melba bread or toast, really took from the dish and have to womder about a chef who put it there. Genrally good value, overall i'd go back

Food was really excellent (props to the chef!), as was the view (if you get a table with a view that is, only a few tables have a view out over the lakes & mountains). The decor is a bit cheesey though, and the service lacked warmth & friendliness a bit. Value was superb, as you could have a three course meal for two plus a bottle of wine for €70 on a Friday night, and only €60 on a Thursday. And we not only got three courses, but also an "amuse bouche" to start with and a sorbet between starter and main course.

Again, I was staying in Avon Rí when I dined in Il Lago with my family. We were a bit disappointed when we discovered it only opened Wed- Sun, as we arrivered on Sun and it was our only opportunity to dine there. The setting is magnificent against the lake, and I was also really impresssed with the decor of the restaurant itself. We had a lovely table overlooking the lake. The staff were very helpful and accamodating as my brother has an egg allergy, and we had no problems, and were served promtly. We were all delighted with our food, chicken, beef, sea bass, roast pork, it was all delicious. Portions were quite big also. I especially enjoyed my pecan pie. By all reports the bar was just as nice. We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant.
