I have had lunch on a number of occasions here. There is always a good selection of quality dishes on the menu. The salads are particularly good quality. Service can suffer a bit in busy times, especially with coach arrivals. Prices a little on the high side for the offerings.

I wanted to go to Portobello but in the end we hit for the M1 and Avoca seemed the only option for late breakfast. Actually at 11.40 we were too late which seemed a bit early to finish the full irish. So we both had focaccia sambos, beef cheese rocket and relish. A couple of danish and a pot of tea and it all came to 26 euro which I found a bit a shock.7.20 for the sambo for the love of God! That said, the foccaccia was really good, which is a true rarity. The beef was generous and flavoursome .In fact the sandwich was very substantial and made a decent brunchy type of main. The Danish was spectacular. Best I have ever had in Ireland. So all in all pricey and full ladies paying too much for take away soup BUT the food is reliably good.

Avoca always serves lovely food. Whenever I go I know what I can get as it's the same in every one. However consistency isn't to be knocked in this case! The portion sizes are too big. I would rather pay less for a smaller portion than a lot and not being able to finish it all. The coffee wasn't great and was very expensive too. The food is delicious though!

Visited ashford avoca, had two burgers , two desserts a tea and coffee. Burgers were very nice and desserts were good too but the bill was just short of €52!! €4.90 of this was service charge! I'm sorry but they weren't that good. A burger is a burger and charging service for lunch is a bit too much.

I have always been a fan of Avoca food but ate in the Ashford cafe last week and was thoroughly disappointed. 2 of us ordered the beef burger which was too big, over flavoured, and over priced at €15 each. 10% service charge was also automatically added to our bill which I thought was very cheeky as we didn't believe it was deserved. Won't be back in a hurry!

Had brunch in the back restaurant in the glass house. The food is fabulous, the service and the room beautiful. My only complaint is the tables they could really do with some wheelchair accessible ones. We had to sit at long table instead of a table for two. It is expensive but you are paying for the service and atmosphere. It a far cry from the noise and queues in the service restaurant in the other section of the building. They could do with some Irish bacon & black pudding on the menu.

Friends took us for lunch today - we chose the venue! They had enjoyed a big hotel breakfast so sampled the soups and bread which were delicious. I had the trout and salmon terrine wrapped in smoked salmon which was just great along with the fresh and tasty salads. I tried the potato one today which has just a little mustard in it - yum. My husband had the duck pate with salads - all delicious. Two desserts were shared both on the pecan pie spectrum and lovely with a lighter toffee base than usual. Great place for a treat!

We dropped down to Kilmacanogue for the bank holiday monday at 12 noon thinking it might be reasonably quiet. Wrong! it was thronged with visitors most of whom, like ourselves were there for lunch. The choice is a bit overwhelming but we settled for a slice of nut loaf with three salads out of a choice of about seven. The plate was groaning with the amount of food on it. Total for two of the same was just under €25. Filtered water with lemon and ice is gratis. I went back for one of their legendary desserts, a pavlova at €5.40, that we shared - it was more than two standard desserts in size and absolutely gorgeous. Great value and great food. Try to go early for lunch or you may face a wait for a seat.

Had lunch here with a friend and besides the never ending queue, which is a good sign, it was lovely. My pate which was served with way too much salad was delicious although the amount of waste food that must be produced made me feel a little guilty. The lemon tart to follow was a dream, tangy with a lovely bite served with a dollop of cream on the side and washed down with an average cappuccino. The service was courteous and although busy efficient. Will be back
