I visited this restaurant for the first time early January and from the time we sat down until we left the restaurant it was a fantastic experience. We were made very welcomed on arrival and nothing was too much trouble for the duration of the meal. The waitress was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and was happy to make recommendations from the extensive menu. The menu is varied and the food is presented beautifully and tastes superb. The food, service, facilities and atmosphere were fantastic and good value for money. This is a restaurant is a real gem & well worth the visit.

Have visited this place with my friends on a Sunday morning a number of times... a couple of times I have been bitterly disappointed! It has the potential to be a lovely place (great fit out, location, nice staff, etc), however the standard of food is NOT good! My particular bugbear is scrambled egg... I think in this day and age, and particularly when you are paying €10 for eggs on toast, you should not get microwave scrambled eggs, how hard is it to make them properly - disgusting! My friends have not been happy with their choice on a couple of occasions also. I hope they up their game, as it has the potential to be a lovely restaurant.....

what was going on ? went for lunch last friday with my girlfriend . all started out fine untill our orders arrive which were wrong as i had ordered potatoe lyonnaise not CHIPS. which in itself isnt a huge mistake but then to wait 10 minutes for my lyonnaise only to be served fryed baby potatoes which from my understanding is simply only fryed potatoes and not potatoe lyonnaise. ok fine maybe once again not the worst thing ever but then on to the lunch itself. i ordered cajun chicken and ribs which consisted of a soggy wrap and cold tough rips with some kind of a cold sauce on top and a very wet salad. my girlfriends lunch was so over creamed she could not finish it. When paying i asked the waitress about the lyonnaise and she confirmed that all i got was baby potatoes. there was a very meek apology and the the bill 23 euro for luch that was not up too much. needless to say we or friends or family will not be back.

visited for lunch today 29th July. had a lovely lunch. looking at the review by Duffo23 I just wonder Is he sure he was in this restaurant in November ? I am a regular lunchtime customer and really enjoy my lunch's there. In November 2008 there were only male waiters, I have never seen Camembert spring rolls on the menu. There was only one toilet on the premises at that time which was always spotless. The kitchen is open plan so the public have full view of the preperation and cooking of their food. This restaurant got a glowing review in the Irish Independant not so long ago.

The food was quite ok - we went for lunch - and ordered two starters. They got my friend's order wrong and presented her with a chicken and mushroom vol-a-vent instead of the garlic mushrooms. As she is a vegetarian, we were a bit unimpressed! I had Camembert spring rolls, they were really delicious. The service was not bad - the waitress was a female version of Basil Fawlty. She was so 'off' we thought it was hilarious, but others around us were not so impressed. The worst thing about The Potato Market is that it is very dirty, and that is the reason I will not go back there again. The toilets were horrible and even the light switches for the loos, which were situated in the restaurant, were black with dirt.If they cleaned it and kept it clean it could be a great place for lunch, and the waitress, well she is a comedy star.

A little gem of a place. Had dinner there on Sat night. The food was exquisite - every mouthful was full of flavour. Portions were generous, service was excellent. I don't normally go for risotto but I had one accompanying my fish and it was absolutely delicious. There was only one white & one red house wine, but the white I had was fragrant and delicious. The night we were in was quiet so no buzzy atmosphere, but that was not a drawback - on all the important measures this was a 5 star for me in every category - a first for my MenuPages reviews.

Excellent Brekkie! After a 'long' night out in Carne, we drove towards Wexford town on a Bank Holiday Monday to attempt to find 'breakfast', even though it was lunchtime! We stumbled upon 'The Potato Market' and went inside. On the menu it said that breakfast was only until 12, so we decided that we'd head as we needed 'brekkie food'. But we asked the waiter and he assured us he was still providing brekkie! We both had the full Irish and it was gorgeous. Complete with Potato Cakes, gorgeous fried (not boiled urgh) mushrooms and the coffee was to die for. Atmosphere was lovely and there were newspapers strewn around the place for reading whilst you wait. As for price? Practically free. Definitely recommend this place. May have to try again when down in Wexford for lunch/ dinner. Marvelous!
