Greenroom Restaurant at Seafield Hotel and Spa Resort has won lots of awards, no surprises there, including two AA Rosettes and, frankly, armfuls of others. But we don’t like to go on about it (too much). Well, you really should expect a long, menu-like, list of awards in a restaurant within what is undoubtedly the finest luxury resort on the east coast of Ireland. Talented chefs, fresh local produce, innovative cooking, glorious dining room, great views, super service and all of that.
The point is that this is a really good restaurant.

Stylish hotel. Extremely over priced, mediocre food with very poor service. The price of the food does not reflect the standard and we expected something special for those prices but what we found was average food with very small portions and we were extremely disappointed. Restaurant manager is lovely and professional, the rest of staff were young and inexperienced. Our table wasn't ready we had to wait 20 mins, we asked for set menu and we were told there's no point in looking at it as its no better value. We had to ask for wine three times, we had to poor our own wine. Best part of the meal was the desert. Shame to say we won't be back even though our holiday home is so close.

The food is beautiful and the staff are so friendly and helpful. It can get very busy but that's to be expected in such a great hotel. Gorgeous grub, down to earth staff. Amazing.

We had lunch at the bar at Seafield last Sunday. Food was quite good - we both had the charcuterie board to start and the lamb shoulder main course. The starter was quite tasty with good variety but I found the lamb to be a bit bland. For afters I had a wonderful cheese plate while my wife had a delicious chocolate dessert. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow but they did the setting was quite nice.

Spent 2 nights here, and it was simply wonderful. The restaurant is to die for- the food is reasonable and the atmosphere eclectic and romantic, with the most beautiful decor. If the restaurant is overbooked the Italian on ground is wonderful too, but the restaurant is the real treat ! Dying to go back! The breakfasts are amazing too!

Booked a 1 night B&B & Dinner package and was thrilled with the weekend. The food was amazing, quality to match quantity. The waiting staff were very pleasant and professional. Will definitely be back.

Ate in the hotel restaurant on Friday night as part of their 1 night B&B plus dinner deal. As with my previous experience of Seafield, the food, service and value were superb. Great choice on the menu and all of the options we choose were delicious. We'll be back! Would highly recommend to others

We dined in the bar at Seafield as guests of my brother and his family and while the food was 5 star in taste and presentation the service was awful. Now from what I've heard generally this would seem to be exceptional but this review is reflective of our experience. We ordered our starters which took 45mins to get, there was a problem with mine when it arrived which took a few mins to rectify. My replacement arrived and I encountered exactly the same problem (crab shell in the fish cake) but removed shell as I found it and ate the rest. Told the waitress about this and she apologised and moved on. All in all the time that took was about 15 mins or so which meant we were an hour or more into dinner & had just finished our starters. We then had to wait another 35 mins for our mains during which time we also heard some more customers complain about not having received their orders. Orders arrived out only to be returned as they were at the wrong tables. It seemed the kitchen was in utter chaos on our visit. My brother asked to speak to a manager and 20 mins later had to leave the table and go find one. When we did eventually get our main courses they were superbly presented and tasted wonderful so it really was a pity that the rest of the evening had gone so terribly. The explanation given by the waitress for the delay was that I had returned my starter and our mains were held up but in speaking to the manager he informed my brother that this wasn't the case and the kitchen was very behind in getting the orders out!!. Not a good policy to have waiting staff lie on the chefs behalf. The manager dicounted our bill by one starter and a main course which was the right thing to do I feel. Anyway we thoroughly enjoyed the food we had, not the experience as a whole though. My brother and his family ate there on another evening and again couldn't speak highly enough in praise of the service and food they had.

Stayed 2 nights before Christmas, it was really enjoyable. Hotel was v quite. Had dinner in the bar the first night, excellent quality (burger and prawn salad - easy to get wrong, was v good) and price. Had 3 course dinner the following night, the food was really excellent -michelin star quality - service was good, Had steak which was really good - starter of smoked salmon, beautiful presentation and flavours. courses well spaced out. nice atmosphere. This hotel is a really enjoyable place to go (especially if you get a deal), the outdoor jacuzzi is v relaxing, especially when it is dark. you can even go for a short walk on the beach, lovely views. hotel room is comfortable - we had cracked window and v torn net curtains!!

Ate here on a busy Saturday night, we didn't stay in the hotel as we live nearby. We were not impressed: neither with the choice of dishes on the menu, nor the prices looked attractive. My husband had a crab salad started, which was ok, and I had a duck confit, didn't find it spectacular at all. The mains- two fillet stakes at aroung 35 euro each were shocking: the servings were tiny, almost no garnish on the plate, extra orders were charges as almost 6 euro for a small side dish. The service was very friendly, the hostess was very welcoming from the moment we walked in and she had a great chat with us at our table at the end, while the waiters were very efficient. It was a very busy night and they were really working hard. I felt that there was not enough staff on for the amount of customers in the room, but the guys really did their best. However I didn't like the atmosphere in the place at all and will not be coming back to eat- it is just too overpriced and it looks like they are just about getting away with everything here. The bar was a bit better - they had great music on, good laugh.

Had lunch in the bar with my family - service was excellent, everyone friendly and efficient. I had the smoked fish chowder - very tasty and light, but interestingly no smoked fish, there was whitefish, prawns and mussels which were all lovely. 3 of us had the fish and chips and even the mushy peas were eaten! Mum asked for the golfers soup and sandwich which she got even tho she is not a golfer. The house sauvignon blanc was very nice if pricey at 25 euros. The bar has great views, nice atmosphere, super service.

We stayed here as part of 1 night B&B with dinner, and having had eaten the dinner and breakfast can safely say it was great value. The dinner was very good. Loads of choice and 7 fish options on the main courses, it was fantastic. Starts of fish cakes were gorgeous and mains of salmon and seabass were both excellent. Desserts were great, and tea and coffee was included too. All we paid extra was the wine. Got a table by the window and it was lovely. Breakfast was great too, and I have since booked a weekend there for my parents. Def worth a try. Only problem I had was that when we arrived we had a sandwich in the bar, which was very average and quite expensive.

We ate in the restaurant of the Seafield hotel as part of a weekend break package. The menu was really nice with lots to choose from. Gorgeous homemade breads to start including a brown pumkin seed bread was lovely. Service during dinner was really good however after mains we were left and unable to order dessert for a long time. The tables by the window are lovely allowing a view over the grounds. The bar menu offers good food also, while a little expensive. Breakfast in Seafield is excellent, they keep the buffet refilled with fresh and hot food all morning. Great choice of fresh fruits, cheeses, hot buffet food. Gold star for breakfast

Stayed with some friends in the hotel and due to its remote location ate here also. I found the hotel in general to be less well looked after than when we previously stayed. We decided to dine in the bar but were not very impressed with what was being offered and so asked to see the restaurant menu. We asked 3 times........and eventually got a menu. We chose or dishes. 3 of which were from restaurant menu and one from bar menu. Our order was taken but about 5 minutes afterwards we were told we could not order restaurant food in the bar. Fair enough...lets chose again. We then ordered a bottle of white and were informed that "this will be gone in 3 glasses, no point me getting you an ice bucket." We were filled 3 obscenely big glasses of white and the remainder of the wine was left on the window sill. The hotel is has a dark and gothic feel but on this visit I thought the poor lighting actually helped to hide that the place could do with a good clean. Breakfast was pleasant, but really just a standard hotel breakfast. For the price you pay I 'm not sure if this place is worth it.
