Dined here with my sister. We had the early bird menu. 3 courses for 30 euro nEvery bite of every dish was delicious. The presentation was sublime. The value for money was outstanding. The room is tasteful, the tables are well spaced and big enough. The service was perfect. This was second time visiting and I'd almost travel specifically to dine there.

Can't fault anything about our visit to Thyme. Staff were wonderful. Food was beautifully presented, and equally as delicious. Great cocktails and drinks menu. We didn't feel hurried at any point. The tables were well laid out so the space felt busy, but there was plenty of space between the tables. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I look forward to returning. nGet the popcorn, sticky toffee pudding dessert! Amazing!

Ate with my dinner club. Excellent overall. Extremely accomodating staff coupled with amazing food gives this establishment the five stars it so richly deserves.

This was my first time here. The staff were very professional and friendly. We had the set menu which was great value. We had the friendly Farmer Chicken.Hake and Pork for Main courses all were really excellent. For dessert we had the Chocolate Fondant and the Vanilla Panna Cotta both were really good. I will go here again.

To start, there's no vegan menu, then there's very little to choose from, the BBQ chicken for starter tasted like Tesco Chicken Wings except it tasted like it was cooked in a pot of sauce as it was so so soggy, come to the main course I just wish I didn't come here, the bavette steak was tasteless, after 2 slices it begins to feel tough to chew on, didn't even finish it, onions and mushrooms as side order was a little too salty, the portions are small, but the price is big, both myself and my girlfriend were not happy with any of it, the quickest dinning ever, left in less than 1 hour, the waiting time on the food was the longest part, would have cost less somewhere else with better taste of food and come out full rather than still hungry.

went to the thyme restaurant this evening with my bf and both had a 2 course meal.for starters we were disgusted with the menu.theres no selection.we got bbq chicken for starters and bavette steak for main course.the chicken seemed boiled and covered in a cheap sauce.the steak didnt taste like steak at all.and thats literally all u get on the plate:a few pieces of steak with mashed potato and carrot sauce?for a side we got vegetables (a couple of green beans, chopped up peppers and the weirdest beetroot ever).I truly do not recommend this restaurant if you want to be fed.we left starving and didnt finish our meal it was so bad.what a joke for €42.

Visited on a Sunday night (table for 2), really warm welcome on entrance, although restaurant not nearly full. 4 courses for 19.95 p.p. and the quality of the food was great. Starter of so with 3 diff bread types, and fish cake was gorgeous served on slate plate with sauces on side. 1 had chicken, 1 had minute steak -cooked exactly as asked. Chunky chips were just goregous. Not a native of athlone, noticed plenty of punters were well known getting exactly what they wanted on a regular basis. Would recommend to anyone visiting Athone for the friendly warm welcome and wonderful food. 2 courses for 2 with wine & 1 coffee, €62 - that is good :) Visit n enjoy :)

I have been trying to visit this restaurant for a while after great reviews from different people and finally made it. There was a group of 8 of us and we were the last customers of the night but you wouldn't have known it. There was no rushing us out the door so the staff could go home. The evening was relaxed and the food was amazing. Everything I tasted (had a little sample from everyones plates) was delicious and the set menu had a great deal to choose from. I will definitely be returning here time and time again, can't fault it

I booked Thyme after looking at there menu online before we visited athlone on Saturday, It's great to see a restaurant this busy in the times were in but this is fully deserved as the food was great. The space is a little cramped and the bathroom is down a narrow little stairs but the staff were nice although very very busy, Over all we left with smiles and full belly's which is always good, The next time we visit Athlone we will be heading straight to Thyme for there pork belly.

I asked for recommendations as to where to eat in Athlone on Twitter, and Thyme was mentioned a few times. We didn't have a booking, but the staff found us a table even though the restaurant was quite busy. Menu is quite varied with a good mix of contemporary and traditional dishes and the wine list, while not extensive has something that should suit everyone! We shared a starter and ordered lamb and steak - both were done to perfection. The atmosphere was nice, warm and cosy and the staff were very helpful - there was one dark-haired waitress in particular whose friendly manner was a breath of fresh air. In addition Thyme run a value menu (comprised of courses from the main a carte menu) - €20 for 2 courses or €25 for three which is good value - they seem to do this 7 nights a week though just as an early bird at weekends. Would definitely recommend this as a nice place to start your night - follow it with a pint in Gertie Brown's across the road and you're onto a winner.
