Had an evening meal here yesterday & could not fault the food or the staff. Food was so tasty, I had the cod gougans & my partner had the short beer rib which I was robbing. Was all so tasty & the staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a visit if in Cahir.

I went here with my parents and sister. I have to say the most impressive part of the meal was our waiter, he was great! He was friendly, amusing and really made our meal fun and enjoyable. The whiskey nook lit up my sister’s eyes and is impressed with the 80 + offerings! Wine is available by the bottle or glass and we had the Muddy Boots Shiraz, delicious! The menu is wide-ranging offering starters including goat’s cheese, soup, ribs and salad. Mains list speciality steak, fish, chicken and vegetarian options. My parents both had duck which came as a full half with stuffing and an orange sauce. They did ask for the sauce on the side but this didn’t happen. I opted for the House Special Chicken which was a black pudding stuffed breast wrapped in streaky bacon and smothered in melted cheese. As I am not a huge fan of pudding I found the 3 thick slices too much but my sister helped finish it! Also the amount of cheese on the dish was too much. I am a believer that butter and cream make everything taste better and often add cheese to this but it was almost like a block of it had landed on the meat and was stuck under the grill to melt. My sister had the Cajun spiced salmon and she went so far as to say it was the best salmon she had ever had! Again the portion was enormous! Sides included buttered green beans, peas and carrots with very tasty chips & baby potatoes. For dessert we had the chocolate brownie with ice-cream and cream. We opted to share one brownie, split in the kitchen. Each of us got almost a full portion of brownie, a scoop of ice-cream and cream and found it the most delicious butter oozing brownie either of us had had! Mother had the apple tart which was a bit of a letdown. All in all the whole meal was extremely satisfying and with a bill of €101.50 it was great value considering we had a doggie bag going home that had enough duck for lunch the following day! Service was great and we couldn’t compliment Mackie’s custom service enough!

I went here with my boyfriend and his mother, it was very nice food, we all had roast dinners. There was plenty of food, I couldnt finish half of it! The atmosphere was good, there were a few people in for lunch. I would reccomend it

Must have been here a dozen times for lunch and for dinner. staff fab and well able to cater for crowds or small groups. I have alsways come away impressed with food. On one occasion I tried something new which i did not like. completely my own fault dinner was barely touched and waitress offered to me another lunch free of charge. how could you complain about them? Was there last year for dinner with 22 others and the staff handled us so efficiently and everyone was sent home happy. Would recommend

Was here with the family, (16 of us) for a confirmation & the food & service was great, really tasty food & lovely staff. The manager behind the bar was very pleasant & seemed really grateful for our custom. If he was being false, I would never have guessed it! Would definitely go back here again for a meal or with a few friends for a drink!

Called into this place at random on way home from the races.. called with a decent sized group and a little 1 1/2 yr old. The food was nice, tasty and decent portions but the best thing about this place in my opinion was the service, apart from being quick and friendly, they went out of their way to help us with our little bundle of joy. While mummy was eating, one of the waitresses came over for a minute or two with a big balloon to distract our terror. I'm pretty sure our tip was nearly as big as the actual cost of the meal.. if you're on a trip that takes you through Cahir, stop off here, its perfect to break up your journey.. highly recommend
