Excellent value and delicious food! My girlfriend and I spent a weekend in Thurles and reading the reviews here decided to try Shimla's. We weren't disappointed! Excellent food, including all the extras we love from an Indian. After ordering we were greeted with a couple of free poppadoms and various dips (we love this sort of thing). The mains were delicious and the equal or better of any Indian I've had. We ordered two mains, two rices, a keema naan, and two beers which, all together came to 40! And they even threw in a free shot of baby guinness! Would go every day if I lived in Thurles!

Absolutely amazing! tried the other Indian restaurant last week, food not so good. Here it was amazing probably the best Indian in the county, highly recommend!. Would give their Sunday buffet a try, been told that's supposed to be great too

Love this place! Food is always amazing. Also at Christmas I got a €10 voucher with my take away which was very generous and nice in January

I have eaten here a few times, most recently a couple of nights ago as part of a group of five. The restaurant interior is fine, nothing special. The service is top notch. They cannot do enough for you. The food is excellent. I rate it as the best indian food I have eaten anywhere in Ireland. I had the chicken garlic bhuna on this occasion and it was delicious. Beautiful flavour and perfectly cooked soft tender chicken. The portion sizes are large, very gernerous. The staff are super friendly and helpful and we were treated to a complimentary shot each. It was a tree tier shot with tia maria and baileys and some cream I think, very nice. The wine selection is non existance but the house red was well received by the group. Value wise it is very reasonable. Dinners all round with some extra naan breads, beers (3 people had two beers) and wine (one bottle of red) and it came to 25 a head with decent tip. I would highly recommend.

I got a take away from here and it was really good! The food is very tasty and good value, while it may not look like that from the menu. It is more expensive then a chinese, dishes are priced between 9-12 euro for take away, but this will more then be enough for two, especially if you get a starter to share as well. I have eaten in here before, its a lovely restaurant to have a meal in. The staff are friendly and its easy to relax in here. Also you get a free shot at the end!

I have eaten in many Indian Restaurants in my time, and without a doubt, the Shimla, stands out for me. I tried many different dishes on the menu, and the one in which I can recommend is the Chefs' Special, the Chicken Jhalfrezi. Its rich in flavour, and the freshness of the tomatoes and coriander and chilli, just really gets your taste buds going. The staff are really friendly and try to accommodate you as best they can! Also, their Sunday Lunch Buffet, for €9.95, where you not only can eat all that you want, but you receive tea/coffee, and and ice-cream, afterwards, is a big favourite of mine. Highly Recommended.
