Arrived a little ahead of the time of my confirmed booking, 19.30 hrs to the surprise of the patron who INSISTED that the booking was for 9.30pm. He would not be convinced by my email confirmation displayed on my phone and maintained that his handwritten reservation was correct. He turned us away saying that he would call us later if a table came free before our reservation time. Being visitors to the city, he kindly gave us directions to Hardogans on O'Connell St, where we had a very pleasant meal and drinks in great atmosphere. I declined the offer of a table when Montmatre phoned at about 20.15 hrs.

We had 2 absolutely fantastic meals here while on a visit to Sligo. The food was so good that we stayed an extra night in Sligo and ate in Montmartre again the next evening! The early bird runs all evening midweek and was great value. Starter of cheese parcels are amazing, my husband had trio of seafood both evenings as he does not eat meat and he said it was amazing. I had duck one night and chicken the next and both were delicious. The waiter was very French and very nice!! Look forward to visiting Sligo again. Marylou

I really liked it! Our waiter was very good and very nice. He let me change my mind about a bottle of wine after we had drank 2 glasses and then didn't charge for it! It was very good of them. The food was also delicious. I had hake and it was exceptional. My friend had guinea fowl and she was equally impressed. I will go back.

I had been looking forward to eating here for ages, but the bad service and long waiting times between courses let it down. The food was good, but you really have to be prepared to wait.

We had the early bird menu,excellent value.Service was excellent.The restaurant had just opened for the evening,but there was a lovely atmosphere and lovely french music playing. The toilets were immaculate-it's been a while since I've seen cleaner! The starter of mussels and chicken mousse with tasty bread was delicious.The trio of fish was enjoyed by my partner. I had the duck confit - a filling portion with mash potato - also delicious.The wine - a bordeaux was lovely with the dinner. We ordered the trio of creme brulee - what can I say - yummy! I would recommend this place to anyone,great variation on menu - looking forward to returning!

On a trip to Sligo this was a great find, it is located somewhere you are very unlikely to wander across. We found it via the web and called to book and ask directions. My boyfriend and I both had starters and main courses that could not be faulted, they were excellent. I had a duck spring roll and the fillet of beef with himself having seafood salad and duck. The wine list is well done with a generous selection of wines for under €25. Service was good with one very friendly waiter and one serious one ! The prices were on the higher side of the scale but with food of this quality I did not find this an issue. We were delighted to have found it on our visit.

I can't believe there are no reviews for this restaurant! It is an absolute gem of a place it's a little bit of the beaten track but definitely a must when in Sligo. I would say it is up there with some of the best restaurants i have ever eaten in, its small and intimate, very welcoming with exceptional service - cute french waiters too, I have eaten here many times over the years and every meal has been excellent, classic french cuisine at its best, the lamb, duck and steak is just amazing, the presentation of the food is exceptional - deserts are like a work of art - I would highly recommend this restaurant, i can't wait for my next visit!
