This may be bias! Ryan’s is one of my local pubs. It’s an old world, very friendly, village pub with a nice restaurant and excellent food. Ryan’s food has been legendary for as long as I can remember, most people I know compare all steaks to a Ryan’s steak. But if your looking for sheik or modern interior design this is not the place. Warm and friendly, Yes! Clean and cosy, Yes! Excellent food and good value, Yes! Modern decor, No!! I’ve tried to past on a recent receipt, I hope it’s readable. If your prepared to eat in the bar, they also do a great burger and a pint for 10 euro. I can’t past a photo here, so on the first of January I paid 4.70 pint of Guinness 18.00 bottle of house red 8.95 chicken wings, starter. 19.95 8oz fillet steak

We went here for dinner last Saturday night after getting a steak recommendation, and I will definitely be back. Its excellent pub grub. The portions are very large. My boyfriend had the wings to start (small but plentiful) and I had the onion rings (too many to finish). We both went for the managable Sirloin steak for main (the fillet is a very large 14 oz!!). Very tasty home style food. Plenty of mushrooms, onions and chips to go with it, and the steak was very succulent. The decor is dated - and the restaurant is really a corner of a pub, but I would recommend this spot for a hearty meal. And price is very reasonable.....

Table for two ... we were sat at a cosy booth just off the main bar.Did not look at the menu - went straight for the special on the chalkboard - 2 sirloins and a bottle of wine for €50. Order taken and wine brought out efficiently. The steaks came quickly - mine medium and hers medium/well - both cooked to perfection. Very good steaks with fried onions, mushrooms and a little salad garnish. Then came a mountain of chips and jug of pepper sauce. Simple cooking and lots of it. Ideal place to meet for pre/post dinner in the traditional style pub.

I've been to Ryans, regularly over the past 12yrs. I always look forward to return, the steaks are fantastic, desserts divine. It has to be one of my favourite restaurants throughout Ireland.

I've only been here once before but definitely will be returning. Food is delishish, cooked to perfection and the staff are so friendly. only problem is that the seating area is tiny, im 5ft 9ins and i could barely sit in the seats, its very cramped and tight. really needs a re-vamped!!

Visited here having read about it on menu pages. Food was absolutely gorgeous, although we went at lunch time and thought that there was only the lunch time menu, however, after we had ordered we saw people with different menus. Staff very very friendly, place could do with a little bit of a refurb but the food is excellent.

Visited here after recommendation and also due to the fact we both LOVE our steak. Does exactly what it says on the tin and the steaks are HUGE. I got the fillet steak and the boss got sirlion. We shared chips and lovely french fried onions and the pepper sauce. In fairness, one steak would have easily been enough between 2. Really tender and juicy. Service was warm and friendly, just like you where at someone's home. Ok, the surroundings could do with a bit of a lick of paint, but you don't look the wall when the food comes out or while you're eating. Will defo return to sample their great steaks again and possibly with elasicated trousers!!

Have visited this venue on a couple of occasions, the fillet steak comes highly recommended however it is the service that brings the repeat visit, Catherine in particular always provides service with a smile. The starter menu could do with a review however. Overall it is a venue that is worth visiting

My self and my merry band of learned food experts travel from Dublin frequently to treat ourselves on the pure majesty that is the steak in Ryans. The ambiance is comfortable and the staff are friendly. The steak is so good I am getting hungry as I type, the onion rings are a treat and the deserts are to die for. The meals are well worth the price. I cant compliment the food enough:its as thought the chef is physic.

A group of us had a table booked for here. When we arrived at the bar for drinks, we were left waiting, while 4 barmaids chatted behind the bar. We ordered our food and were seated when it was ready. However, the food was on the table when we came out so you'd no choice where you wanted to sit, which I thought very strange! The portions served are far too big and it is a massive waste of food. You get 2 servings of chicken or fish and then need to order veg separately. The food was enjoyable though. If they re-did the menu for smaller portions at a lower price it would be far better.

Went here on a recommendation, was determined not to judge the book by its cover so ignored the tatty appearance of the bar, the terribly old fashioned decor, the awful cheap and old menus and the lack of choice .... i shouldn't have bothered. the tiny choice of starters must be in direct proportion to their freezer space, the soup was out of a packet and a cheap one at that ... the surf and turf was as previously described ..a good size steak that was properly cooked but the shrimp was awful. i am sorry to say i was totally disappointed with this place, and i had been really hopeful as the drive out there from Dublin is lovely. our bill was €85 for three soft drinks, a soup, garlic mushrooms, surf and turf and fillet steak oh and extra for glutinous bland pepper sauce. this place obviously has its fans ... but it bothers me that people pay so much for less than good quality food when there are so many good places around with better tastier food, great buzzing atmospheres for much better value. it seems Ireland still has some way to go .. won't be returning

I ate here on Saturday and it was the worst dining experience I have ever had. The place was tacky and horrible. Service was slow, despite the lack of custom, and we didn't find out until after the mains had been delivered that there were no half-bottles of wine. It was too late at that stage to bother ordering. I paid €8.50 for 'Prawn Cocktail' as a starter. What came out was defrosted prawns on a bed of shredded lettuce and covered in 'Marie Rose Sauce' (read: ketchup mixed with mayo). It was very, very basic for the price of it. Worse: there was a load of water at the bottom of the bowl, probably from the defrosted prawns. The sauce ended up mixing with the water and everything tasted bleh. For starters I plumped for the Surf n Turf (fillet steak and scampi for €30) after reading about their steaks on the web. In fairness, the steak was cooked right. It wasn't particularly flavourful, though. The 'Surf' part of the dish was deep fried, frozen, battered scampi and it was utterly disgusting. Little soggy parcels of mushy batter. Ugh. Sauce cost extra, and when it came out the 'chasseur sauce' tasted like the gravy on my sister's plate. I ordered carrots as a side and what I got tasted like tinned baby carrots that had been heated up. There was a lot of food on show, even though it was ming. My wife got the plaice and was served two gigantic battered lumps of plaice with a platter of chips. However, since the batter was disgusting, she was left with a plateful of scraped-off batter. Desserts were a saving grace... but it was WAY too late at that stage. Ryans obviously focuses on quantity over quality. However, unless there is the slightest shred of quality, why would we bother paying for this food? I could have cooked that meal myself in about 15 minutes and it would have cost about 10% of the price and tasted much nicer. And the punchline of this joke of a meal came when I asked waitress about the bar menu, which I noticed had a lot of the same dishes as the restaurant menu, except at half the pri

At first looking at menu seemed expensive but on friends recommendation decided to give it a go and god were we glad we did - fantastic! Boyfriend ate off restaurant menu and had surf n turf, friend had pork fillet chasseur and I had 8oz sirloin off the bar menu! Great to be able have option of huge steaks - now called Ryan's special all over the world! Or go for bar menu which has great options for the recession hit customer! Chicken wings tastiest ever!
