Went to the restaurant on Sunday evening as I had a night booked in the hotel. The hotel was very warm and stuffy and when we were seated we were put in the corner down the back of the restaurant. There was no atmosphere in the place. We had a 4 course meal which I had heard was lovely. We were offered bread to start which was nice. Then out came the starters I ordered chicken courgette because there was not much on the starter menu that I would eat. I wasnt impressed I gave my boyfriend the other half and asked for more bread. When we were finished the server came and took the plates away which I noticed there was a big black roundy stain left obviously the plates were not cleaned properly. The main was very basic chicken with potatoes stuffed in goats cheese. I thought sure the bread was fillip me and Ill order a nice dessert again I was left disappointed not much on the menu I ordered a cheeses cake as you cant go wrong with that. However, I was half way through it and noticed there was a hair in the middle of the cream on the cake I called the manager over and he said can I get you anything else. I was disgusted and said no I couldn't even finish of the wine after given dirty plate then hairy food. I felt sick I went upto the room and didn't even bother going back down to the bar I. Then the next morning we went down for breakfast I had to ask for a clean cup as there was dirt on the inside of the cup. I think hygiene is the most important factor in any restaurant and this had not got it.

Ate here while staying at the hotel over the weekend and we had a lovely meal. The restaurant is lovely and quaint, nice and spaceous with a lovely atmosphere. The menu was good, with more tempting choice for main course than starter in my opinion but everything we ordered was great and deserts were fantastic! One thing though, the wine selection is expensive!

Went here for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago and were left with a bitter taste in our mouths. Service was friendly, but lousy. Asked to order drinks three times. Finally ordered and it took about 15 minutes to get them. Menu was pricey for what you actually got and the food was mediocre at best. Atmosphere is overbearing and stuffy. They are going for a Connaught type feel, old style dining room, but the food and service turn it into a sad joke. Don't think we'll be back. Very disappointing.
