We dined in fire & salt while staying at Johnstown house. For starters we had the sweet potato soup which was absolutely delicious and the pork. For mains we both had steak, I had asked for well done no punk bits and my husband asked for medium rare. His was perfect mine seemed fine so I poured my pepper sauce over and tucked in. I couldn’t eat over half of the steak as it was rare on one half and cooked on other! By the time I realised my husband was almost finished his dinner so I didn’t call them to fix it as I would have had to wait for ages then eat on my own. When the waiter care to clear away the plates he asked what was wrong as I had left the steak and it was all cut up so I explained. He apologised and said I should have called him, I explained why I didn’t that it would have led to such a delay and me eating on my own etc. so we then had coffees and dessert. We thought as they had apologised and accepted that the steak was cooked nowhere near to my request that they may have removed the €5 supplement for my steak. On receiving the bill there was no acknowledgment of the mistake. We didn’t say anything we just won’t return.

My stay in Johnstown House Hotel was perfect! I enjoyed a four course dinner which was presented fabulously and so tasty. The best part of my experience were the staff, they were all so friendly and warming. I would highly recommend Fire&Salt; if you are looking for a perfect culinary get together.
