My wife and I are not big fans of Indian so when we tried this restraint in Dunboyne we put ourselves in the hands of the excellent waiter and waitress in the restaurant. We were not disappointed I had the Onion Bagie and my wife the chilli chicken on the early bird menu. Both were tasty and lovely to eat. For mains the chicken rogan josh and the chicken jalfrez again both were very tasty. Great value and good food in a nice atmosphere also the tables were well spaced and service was good. Will be returning for same very soon thanks to all the staff.

This is a great restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly and the food is the best Indian food I have ever tasted. It is also very child friendly. Service has always been excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Brilliant restaurant.

Have been eating here regularly and ordering from takeaway menu for over two years and have never been disappointed. Food Beautifully cooked and service always so friendly. Kids, when given the choice of Taj or other local restaurants always pick Taj as they love the Naan bread and the starter dips. In the over 30 times we have ordered food from the menu we have never been disappointed. Lovely hidden Jem with very talented chef. It is our number 1 place to dine in Dunboyne and so much more reasonable for a family with kids than other options.

I am a lover of Indian food and was looking forward to eating out as It was my birthday. I will say that the staff were friendly and courteous throughout the evening. There were 8 of us dinning there and all would agree that the starters were very disappointing. The starters were bland and lacked any kind of presentation. On of us ordered a Gin and Tonic and was told that they had run out of Gin. When the main courses came there was great confusion as to who had ordered what. My wife ordered Chicken Passanda which totally tasteless. The food was reasonably priced but I would have preferred to pay more for tastier food. The decor was drab and overall I would say that this restaurant could do with a facelift in terms of decor and more importantly in terms of its exhausted menu.

Having been a fan of Indian food for years I was chuffed when one opened up locally in Dunboyne. This beyond doubt has become the best Indian restuarant in the region. Great takeaway specials (check facebook) comprising of main, rice and nan for €10 and always great value for 'eat in'. The staff are happy to mix and match meals to suit your taste and spice preference (my son likes the chicken tandoori / phall mix). I have attended in small and large groups and never been dissatisfied with service or food. Often head chef and owner Haroon, will come out to talk to customers about new dishes and ideas for the restaurant - even giving me advice on cooking my own curries. Decor is plain but clean. Small, family run, excellent venue for quiet dinner or large party, can't recommend it enough.

I used to eat here a lot and it would be one of my favourite Indian restaurants, one that I recommended to many people over the years. Never again, unfortunately. We ate here last Friday, a group of 10 of us, many who have been fans for years but the complete lack of services has turned all of us off. It started with our table being given away, even though we were early, but these things happen no biggy, we eventually got a new table and then after about 20minutes had to request our menus. We ordered wine that didn't arrive until we requested it three times, then were informed that two out of three of these wines where not available, then the next we picked was not in stock either. We had no water on the table, we requested it through out the night (I say night as we were there for over two and a half hours, and that was not even including desert or teas and coffees, which we weren't even offered??) After we requested that somebody please take our order and put it in we waited at least 40minutes for the starters to arrive (so that's more than an hour in the restaurant and not fed, barely watered) after the starters arrived a few people from our group went for a smoke outside and we saw a couple who had entered the restaurant adjacent to us at the same we arrived leaving. We hadn't even had our mains! We kept letting things slide but after and hour and half after ordered one the staff members came out to ask what one of our party ordered it got even more rediculous. We tried to explain our grievences to the staff and management and were greeted with nothing, not even an apology let alone the offer of maybe a bottle of wine or something knocked off the bill. The final straw was when we asked for our bill and we were being grossly over charged (a an extra meal for two with wine had been added to our bill) and we actually had to sit down and write out exactly what we ordered and add it up for them, which they disputed then. All this isn't even included rice not arriving, mistakes with the order, the wrong food etc we were j

I ate here 3 weeks ago and used to be a regular but their menu lacks imagination and you get bored of the same dishes week in week out. That said, the early bird of $49.00 for 2 starters, mains, nan , rice and wine is great value and I will probaly be back!

We booked Taj in Dunboyne for a New Year's Eve dinner for 8 adults and their respective children! The Taj manager VJ was really helpful in organizing the kids meals as well as a fantastic spread of Indian food. He even upgraded our wine choice from the fixed menu at no extra charge! We arrived at 6PM and were well looked after until we exited at 9PM... all very satisfied indeed. So, what about the food: Everyone loved the mixed grill sizzling starter! Paul's special nutty sauce was also a crowd pleaser. The Chilli Masala had a nice hint of lemon and the Peshwari Naan is the best anywhere. If you ever get a chance to dine here - do. Highly recommended.
