I used to live in Dunboyne and have visited this restaurant many many times. I recently moved away from Dunboyne and went back for pre Christmas dinner and drinks with the girls. The food here is pretty good (far be it exceptional) & the service is always very attentive and friendly however I think it offers really bad value for money. Since I have known it they have never changed their menu, never offer any special deals and given the current economic climate they really need to re evaluate their pricing strategy. A new similar style restaurant has opened in Dunboyne which I'm hoping might shake Da Panza up a little.

My partner and I dropped in here at 5pm on a Saturday. Feeling very lazy and hung over we both had a craving for a nice Italian so decided to give Da Panzas a try. We were both very glad we did. We arrived at 5pm on the dot so they were only really setting up however there was a nice warm/cosy ambience. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo (and asked for chicken to be included in the dish which was no problem whatsoever), and my partner opted for the Rigatoni Cacciatora. While the wait was a little longer that we would have liked(although we are exceptionally impatient diners), this was understandable as it was obvious when the dishes arrived that everything was fresh. Both pasta dishes were beautiful, the Alfredo was lovely and creamy and the Cacciatora was equally delicious. We didn't bother with drinks or dessert but will definitely be returning at some stage to sample the starters and desserts. Oh and the service was excellent. I felt as if they really cared if we enjoyed our meal. I'm giving 4.5 stars with the half star being lost for value.

Beautiful Restaurant, Lovely staff. Food lovely, however ridiculously over priced for a small country restaurant in the middle of a recession. Bruchetta was at least 6euro, one small slice of bread with garlic and tomato. Steaks were 25.99 each. All fish dishes were 23.99 + Far too much to pay in this day and age at 8pm on a Tuesday night !

Well what can I say about this little Italian? one word FABULOUS. Visited here last night Sunday, not familiar with the area stayed just one night and didn't fancy eating at the hotel. Arrived at 8 o'clock greeted by the owner (i think), we were the only ones there and thought god is it bad but low and behold it is probably the nicest restaurant I have visited this year. Really soft background music, very romantic which is what we wanted. We both had crab claws for starters with were beautiful, followed by my main course of seabass again cooked to perfection. Other half had fettuccine alamare, tomato based with mussels, calamari and prawns (family recipe). Through the course of the meal, other diners arrived, really impressed. The only downside was been the only diners for the first 1/2 hour, was a bit unusual, but I'm glad we stayed and recommend this place highly.

Had dinner with a couple of friends in Da Panza & really enjoyed the meal, we had crab claws & bruscetta for starters & the claws were absolutely delicious! For main had the seafood pasta which again was delicious, there was nothing left on the plate! The atmosphere was quiet enough but for a Wednesday night there were still a couple of tables in. What I liked most was the food & will definately be returning!

Enjoyed a fabulous evening in Da Panza celebrating my wife's birthday. Food (particularly pasta), service and everything else were excellent, the staff even sang happy birthday much to my better half's embarrassment! Highly recommended & planning another visit as soon as possible.

I thoroughly enjoy myself each and every time I go to this restaurant. Its very cosy and child friendly. I love the lasagne especially and its what I usually have. The staff are very good and after a few trips in, they will remember your name which is nice.

The worst restaurant I've ever been to. I went there with my girlfriend some time ago and we were really disapointed. I ordered a steak and my girlfriend had a pasta. After 40 minutes waiting we got the food- overcooked, almost cold and tasteless. I have eaten in many restaurants before but i have to say this was the worst. I'm not suprised that we were the only people there-i will never go there again for sure and i wouldn't reccoment this place to anybody.

Restaurant response:
You obviously were not in the same restaurant as me your review is way off!

I was there a couple of weeks ago with all my family (1 fussy 7 year old included). Service is excellent. Owner is at hand to take comments and chat and make everybody feel at ease. Waitress very friendly, too. Food is good, although not exceptional. I am Italian, and I rarely eat in Italian restaurants abroad. Da Panza is owned by a true Italian and is as close as it gets to real Italian food abroad (never understood why....). But....it's pricey! Would I go back? I doubt it. I find it difficult to justify paying nealy €12 for a plate of pasta with oil, garlic, and spicy pepper...

visited last saturday afternoon for a quick dinner as I was in Dunboyne for work. Was only 1 other table in the restaurant but this im sure was because of the time of day. Decor is slightly dated but the restaurant definetely has a warm, cosy, irish-italian feel. Service was exactly as I'd want- attentive but not overly and the two members of staff were both smiley and friendly- always a good thing! Food was excellent and did not have wait long for it. Prices were reasonable also. Would return again if i'm in Dunboyne and would definetely recommend it to anybody.

Terrible rude service.Bland food. This was our 2nd time eating here, the first time we arrived 20mins before end of early bird menu and were made to feel totally unwelcome. The owner (who was sitting drinking and eating in the corner) was receiving more attention than paying customers while being comically rude to people. We gave the benefit of the doubt and came back on a friday evening for the main menu, and for such a small place we nearly had to physically grab the waiting staff for service and drinks etc.. We had the irish version of Vicky Pollard tutting in our faces and when a family of regulars came in the staff nearly fell over themselves trying to serve them to the neglect of everyone else in the restaurant. When my maindish came out it was missing one of its main ingredients and nothing was mentioned by way of explanation or apology by staff. This is my first time to post something like this but I'm so unsatisfied at the behaviour of owner + staff not to mention fairly bland food that ive made the effort. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS.

Have eaten here many times and on the whole have found it reasonable good value with a pleasant atmosphere. Our major complaint would be the never-changing menu (it's been the same for over two years) and restricted options available for vegetarian diners. If they could just adjust the menu from time to time and expand it to include more vegetarian alternatives, this restaurant could rate much higher. On the plus side, the crab claw starter and the half duck in orange are very good, and for vegetarians, I really recommend the Salad Caprese and Stuffed Aubergine - which comes as a starter but makes a nice main course.
