Frenchs Lane, Trim
Space is attractively broken up around a central carpeted square with leather sofas to provide a variety of seating areas and simple, uncluttered table settings are modern and elegantly functional - tall water carafes, finger bowls for nachos and paper napkins.
Light-hearted menus offer an excellent range of choices in the international style and, together with an informal, buzzy atmosphere, indicate that this is a place for a good night out.

Visited Franzini's on St Patrick's Day. Excellent value & selection on early bird menu, 2 courses €19.95. Shared starter of baby rack of rib, fell of the bone & ample portion to share. Main of Spicy Chicken Teriyaki & Sirloin 8oz - great portions, plates hot, (excellent) and Steak cooked to order, thoroughly delicious. Shared dessert of ice-creams & tea for 2. Very relaxed ambience considering they were so busy after town parade, staff very friendly and professional. Great seat by window with view of Castle.

On initially approaching the restaurant we thought it was closed as the front lighting was low. However on entering the restaurant it had a warm cosy ambiance. The waiter was friendly and allowed plenty of time to peruse the menu. We chose from the early bird menu which has adequate choices for meat or vegetarian lovers. Both starters we ample but mains were excellent, more than any one person could eat. Overall a good restaurant, friendly staff, fair prices and more than adequate portion sizes.

Very disappointed after driving down from Dublin for lunch , the menu was literally a snack menu, disappointing considering the evening menu has such a large selection on it

Everything was excellent!!!! Food was just amazing. Would definitely recommend here, but you best have your wallet full. In saying that....sometimes you gotta pay that little bit extra for the good stuff :D

Amazing food, staff are accommodating.. But the food will make up for any other short falls. Out of this world.

Myself and my husband ate here while spending a couple of days in Trim. We had the early bird menu which was very reasonable. The food was lovely and the portion sizes were very good. The service was very good and the whole feel of the place was very nice. We would definitely eat here again.

We went to eat here this evening and the food was so awful I felt I had to write a review because we chose this restaurant because of the good reviews. Firstly I ordered the crab claws: completely overcooked it was almost impossible to get the meat off the claws - and they arrived with garlic mayonaisse which is a very strange combo. W we also ordered the garlic mushrooms which were dripping with oil. Then, the worst meal I've had in a long time: I ordered what appeared on the menu as a chicken caeser salad. simple enough? NO. It arrived two pieces of chicken smothered in cajun seasoning and TERIYAKI SAUCE? who in their right mind puts teriyaki sauce on a caeser salad? I tried some and started coughing from the seasoning and sauce. When I didnt even touch it the waiters didnt even bother to check why I hadnt eaten it. We also ordered a pizza that was completely soggy and inedible. Also, my coca cola was so flat i couldnt drink it, asked for another and it was exactly the same. Would never return, absolutely gobsmacked by the terrible food.

we had a lovely meal here on a Sunday evening recently. the only negetative experience we had was with the maitre d /manager. I asked him a question and he was very rude with his reply. he was even quite smart. we considered walking out but decided to stay and have food as we'd heard good reviews on the place. the food was lovely, the staff were very good and we really enjoyed it. but i'd be hesitant to return- maybe if we knew that guy was on a day off!

Did Not Feel The Love - Thought we would try Franzini O'Briens after visiting Trim Castle today, the restaurant is conveniently located right next to Trim Castle and has a great ambience. Well this is where it ends, we ordered the “Buffalo Chicken Wings” starters – according to the menu they are supposed to be grilled – they were definitely deep fried, dried out like leather. As for the service its shocking - waiters just walked right past our table about 8 times after we had finished our starters, they could see we were finished but decided to ignore the fact that we had finished our starter and left the plates in front of us until we had to ask to have them cleared.. They never once us how our meal, we were totally ignored and “We did not feel the love”. Further to this we noticed all the other tables had water, this only arrived after we asked. Before leaving I decided to order a double macchiato, when the bill arrived I noticed I was charged for 2 single Espresso's, when I queried this with who I would describe as the "manager / owner" he just said "Well, that’s the way it is, accept it!". Well I don’t accept it, a double macchiato should only cost slightly more than an espresso, I felt ripped off and we definitely will not be returning to this restaurant.

Visited this place and was absolutely blown away. The place was buzzing to start but the staff seemed well able to deal with the rush and so our welcome etc... didn't suffer. To start I had the homemade tortilla chips which were absoutely amazing and really reccomend everyone else tries them. My wife had ribs to start and felt they were some of the best she has ever had. For the main I had the sizzling chicken fajitas and they were absolutely delicious and the portion was huge to boot. My wife had a steak for her main and was delighted with how it was cooked. For dessert we split this huge banoffi/meringue concoction which was absolutely delicious but unfortunately we could not finish it! The staff were very friendly and very prompt throughout the night and I would consider going all the way to Trim again just to eat here.

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Franzini's recently. We made a reservation for 7pm on a Wednesday evening. To our surprise the place was very busy when we arrived and we were glad we had booked ahead. Upon arrival we were greeted my a busy looking but also very friendly man who we assumed to be the manager. He brought us to a nice table and we settled in. There was a little delay in ordering but we didn't mind as it was obvious they were very busy. Once we had placed our order there was no delay in our drinks or food arriving. I chose the confit of duck for starters, it was served with a pear puree which complimented it perfectly. My Boyfriend chose the rack jnr, this was equally delish and was served with a honey and mustard dressing. For mains I went for the monk fish and prawns with noodles. I ordered a side of fries with it, but I shouldn't have, the dish itself was more than filling. He went for the pork belly and he seemed pretty happy with his choice. As we were both so full after our main meal we decided to just share a bowl of ice-cream for dessert and we finished if all off with tea for two. Our bill came to €66 which included a bottle of the house red. We were very impressed with all elements of the evening, particularly the value for money. We will be back!

A large group of us ate here today. We had booked in advance, and upon arrival our table was ready and waiting - always a good start. There was a buzz about the place, but not so loud it made conversation difficult. The staff were very attentive and speedy. Despite us making a colossal order at once, they handled it well and we were all served our food at the same time. Dishes were cleared promptly, and with every course we all got fresh cutlery - minor details but some restaurants can overlook such things. The food itself was generally loved - one or two minor complaints, but overall full bellies and happy faces all around. There was an element of portion size control - some starters were miniscule, some were colossal. I had Nachos as a starter, and upon finishing them barely had any room for my main course. Probably my own fault, but they were damn tasty and I couldn't stop. My Tiger Prawns Tempura were delicious but I was sadly unable to finish them off. Desserts, teas and coffees were all met with approval. Nice house wines too. It was tough to find parking outside, which was a downside. Overall, I would definitely come here again.
