Sometimes bar food is standard fare, but this meal was quite different. There was plenty of choice on the menu. We had a delicious three course meal with wine, which was very good value for money. Service was also very good – thumbs up to the Bailey Bar in Trim Castle Hotel.

Had a delicious three-course meal in the hotel's bar whilst on an overnight stay. Menu options were very good and our meal was served promptly by friendly and attentive staff. We dined in the bar because the restaurant wasn't open, but that certainly didn't take from the meal. Mid-way through the evening, the lights were dimmed in the dining area and this added to the lovely atmosphere with candles flickering on the tables. Dinner was particularly good value for three courses, well cooked, well presented well and of a very high quality. It far exceeded what we would expect from bar food, so well done to the staff here, on all counts.

Stayed in this hotel and had dinner here on the Friday night. Service was very slow, food wasn't great and the atmosphere was very bad. Didn't feel like a bar or a restaurant. Felt very uncomfortable. Would not revisit

This is one place I wont be revisiting. I've never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant- ever. I queued here and asked for their special of the day - which I was told would be another 5 minutes.... when I explained that I didnt mind waiting I was asked "would you not have something else as we are very busy?". If it had not been for the fact that my colleague had already got his lunch I would have left but I explained that I would rather wait. 25 minutes later I still had not received my food despite having paid for it- and having reminded several waitresses. I had no other option but insist on a refund and leave without having eaten anything. You wouldn't get service like this in a fast food restaurant! Absolutely despicable and I'll not be returning.

We were staying in the hotel and had vouchers for the Champagne afternoon tea. I have to say I was not holding out much hope, I expected a few stale sandwiches and a scone with some flat awful plonk! I am very happy to say that I was entirely wrong, the experience couldn't be further from my preconceptions! We had a plate of six different sandwiches, beautifully presented and then another plate of mini sized cream cakes which were yummy, this was accompanied by tea and coffee and a glass of passable Champagne. Wonderful surprise and I would recommend it to anyone who is in the area, great light pick me up after a tour around the castle.

Passing through Trim on Sat afternoon we decided to stop for a bite to eat. We were turned away from a restaurant as they didn't open until 5pm, so we wondered up to Trim Castle. We were directed into the bar which was v busy & handed the menu. For EUR19.99 we got a gorgeous 4 course meal, the sirlons were excellent quality meats. Overall I was very impressed & would certainly return to the bar for food. The waiting staff are so helpful & would not rush you out the door once you had finished your meal. Highly recommend this bar for food!

This was our first visit to Trim Castle hotel and we'll certainly be back. The hotel and room was fantastic and the food and service was excellent. I had tomato soup to start one night and then the Steak which was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The next night I had the Steak pie which was really nice. The waiter/ess are very good and one even knew id have a Coffee after my meal at 9pm because thats what I had for breakfast that morning. Brilliant attention to detail even though the hotel was packed. Great atmosphere, great Food, great value and great service. And the room was fantastic to. I would recommend it to anyone.

Stayed in the hotel an as part of the package we had a chamagne afternoon tea. the desserts were nice and had a good selection. whereas i felt the sandwiches seemed like they had been made the day before and had been left in the fridge. The bar food looked lovely so if i was to go again i would try that instead.

Having spent the night in the hotel we had champagne afternoon tea included. I had found the staff to be lovely all weekend and we were assured when we arrived the day previous that it would be ok to have our afternoon tea the following day but when I asked one waitress in particular she was not very friendly or helpful when I asked should we take a seat. We enjoyed our afternoon tea. While I would not normally have a sweet tooth the desserts definitely surpassed the sandwiches which were bland and unimaginative. They basically consisted of dry salad and the one small smoked salmon on brown bread did not seem very fresh. Having said this the carvery dinner which was available in the bar looked and smelled delicious and considering how full the place was I think people probably return on a regular basis for this.

We decided to have dinner here at 4.30pm on a snowy Saturday after another restaurant close by turned us away because they didn't open until 5pm. I'm glad we were turned away as we enjoyed a great meal at the Baily bar. The baily bar is a modern bar and it was fairly quiet when we arrived but it did pick up at 6pm with most people eating. We decided to go for the 3 course meal for €19.95 incl tea/coffee. We all had the chicken wings, sirloin steak and cheesecake/pavlova. The wings were a large portion with sweet chilli and blue cheese dip. The only fault here was the sweet chilli was fairly scarce and didn't have enough flavour. The steaks were surprisingly large, cooked perfectly to our request and tasty. The deserts were lovely and couldn't be faulted. There are two whites and two reds and we went with the €19 Spanish red which was very good. The staff were very attentive, pleasant and obliging. I will defo be back to the Baily bar for a meal next time I am in Trim.

I put a date down for June but I cannot honestly remember the first date I visited here but it was around then. It was the night before a wedding and we arrived around dinner time. The restaurant was busy but they accomodated us without a reservation and we were quickly seated at a very dirty table. After an age the waiter arrived to take our order and ignoring the filth of the table proceeded to reset it. I asked him to clean it first and he looked offended but obliged. We must have been there when Carol (previous reviewer) and her crew was there as a large family group took the table accross from us and they looked like they were having the best time of their lives. The kids raced and screamed up and down past our table allmost tripping the waiter a number of times. This was past 9pm when they should have been tucked in but no...this restaurnt sure was kid friendly. We huffed and puffed and asked for asprins to see if the staff would get the message and control the mothley crew but no notice was taken. At one stage we had to ask the parents to take charge of the situation. We hurridly finished an ok meal and took our drinks into the foyer for some peace and quiet and low and behold - the mothly crew followed. We left. I came back twice since. The experience was repeated. We waited 45 mins to get served while everybody around the table were served before us. Another tme I called for lunch and found that the carvery lunch was of very poor quality but that did not stop them from charging the earth. I had a coffee in the cafe which was a lovely area and I must admit that the cafe had a wonderful selection of desserts and coffee. I love the location, the building and the decor. The wedding food is good. Infact its the perfect location for weddings but for their customers sake you would think that they would get their lunch and dinner service and menu together. I wont be back for either. I will be back for cakes and coffee and weddings.

I love this place. Our last visit was for my partners birthday and we'll certainly be back. The food is to die for. I've never had steak cooked so well. The service is top notch. The waiter/ess are on the ball but no in your face all the time and the atmosphere is lovely. I've never been in this place when it's not had a good crowd. What I'd really like to mention though is my mums birthday back in March. I got the whole family together for her 60th, thats 5 kids, partners and 7 grandchildren and started to make arrangements to go for dinner. As the 7 grandkids are of delicate ages between 7months (only 2months at the time) and 10 yrs, I was afraid of the noise levels so I asked about a private function room, they were more than pleased to oblige me with the private room and not only that it was of no extra cost. We had a great day and the kids loved it. We didn't have to feel embarrassed if they were making enough noise to waken the dead so we could relax that bit more. I have to say its one of if not the nicest place in the area and I would recommend it to anyone. Great value and great service. Who could ask for more.
